New in Malaysia is this new Osis product called Rough Rubber. I was curious so i bought one fr Shins for RM34.30 (normal retail is RM 49). advertised as limited edition but i think its just a gimmick by Shins coz on the box there is no limited edition label.

the paste is blue n texture is weird. has the regular Osis fragrance but with a very pronounced chemical smell i dun like. the texture is like ma lai kao cake. really need to poke the finger in to scoop some out of the tub. but once u work it between your palms its feels like a wax. the moment i applied it to my hair i realized it lacks grip n hold. i normally push my medium length hair to one side n pull up some random messy spikes. but with Rough Rubber it was hard to do it. its like it aint sticky enough n my fingers just glide through. so i use my fingers to pull up n make some spikes n texture.
damm after a few minutes my hair just flattens. there is still some shape but just doesn't look nice. i applied 4 finger nail size amounts. maybe i applied too much so next time i'll try with less product. kinda disappointed with Rough rubber tho as its labelled as 3- strong control.
Here r reviews of other Osis products i have used over the years.
1. Flexwax

U can normally get this for around RM30-35. the strength is 4 (ultra strong control). initially i din like this one as i found it unable to hold my spiky style especially the fringe. even if i use a lot my fringe will fall after a few hours. but as i read more about using wax i realized i was using too much n that Flexwax aint for spiky hairstyles. so i used less (about 2 finger nail size amounts) rubbed into dry hair. instead of anti gravity spikes i started styling my hair like how i described above. after these adjustments Flexwax performed pretty well. held my hairstyle pretty well for 4-5 hrs with minimal flattening.
Flexwax still works well when my hair is due for a trim n out of shape. other waxes like Gatsby tend to make my thick hair clump together...making hair styling a nightmare. u could probably restyle as many times as u like with flexwax. that is one thing i love bout it.
i wished it was a bit less shiny though. sometimes when im in a rush i tend to apply too much n it makes my hair a bit flat, limp n shiny. but if u careful with the amounts u apply Flexwax will work. less is more. washes out easily too.
2. Mess Up

U can normally get this for around RM30-35. the strength is 2 (medium control). This product will not work if u want to do any kind of anti gravity spikes. this was d 1st Osis product i ever tried. my hairstyle was of the spiky kind that time so Mess Up failed badly after an hour. Mess Up works better for more natural hairstyles. it tends work better for me if my hair is trimmed n thinned regularly but when my hair is longer n thicker (bout 3-4 weeks after a haircut) Mess Up becomes extremely difficult to use as it tends to make your hair clump together.
washing out can be difficult if u apply too much but not as bad as Moving Rubber. I also think that Mess Up works better for ppl with thin to medium thickness hair as it can give volume.
