Sometimes Amazon have some nice price on them, but this site is also quite good - it shows several retailers and their lowest price

http://www.trailspace.com/

I bought mine from REI Outlet with an extra $20 off from their promo coupon they had going on.

Thanks, glad the fitting was okay as i had to trust the measurement chart since no place in Msia to try sweat.gif

If you can wear XL, Massey is selling the Alpha SL quite low at $151. Or other brand options you can also consider is Black Diamond, Outdoor Research, Patagonia, Rab.
Or locally there's Salomon like you mention, or Columbia, North Face. Not familiar with Millet products though, but i see they have quite a few distributors in Msia.

I probably lost around RM30 from the drop in USD rate past few days compared to when i bought mine, but i don't mind so much since the discounted price fluctuates and would have been higher if i waited. Check with camelcamelcamel on the Amazon link for the Alpha SL so you'll know what's the lowest price it's ever dropped to and also the best trending price.

I still need a light breathable hiking/trailing pants (lightly insulated would be a plus), which is even harder to find fit since the length is always too long for my legs.. Still scouting North Face and Columbia for that, might check out Mountain Hardwear as well. Not willing to spend much for pants since i've been overspending lol.

Good price on the Mountain Hardwear, but why Alpha SL when you have the Plasmic Ion?

Plasmic Ion just a temporary solutions .. in the past i have salomon XT WP jacket that only can sustain for 2hours heavy storm while racing in sabah KK jungle .. drenched & soak in wet body quickly losses energy to generate more heat .. food that carry along ran out fast .. in the end rely on support staion's fruit to provide energy and finished up the race. ..
so Alpha SL might be the best choice since they use highly breathable GoreTex fabrics then it will keep me out from sweat building up inside while keeping dry outside ..
for Plasmic Ion will use in local peninsular msia races as here the weather is much more mercy compared to Sabah tropical forest rain .. smile.gif

Ahhh i don't think Goretex would make a big difference when it comes to heavy storm though.
But apparently there's a new fabric which supposedly performs better - Outdry Extreme fr Columbia and Goretex Active. Maybe you could be the guinea pig and let us know how they perform? biggrin.gif

That is mother of all water falls. Makesure you spend the entire day at the Niagara falls. And the night scenery too.

You will just feel not enough to see that falls !
