eh...I know probably I've asked this before
but I see some guys in the gym doing bench press with their legs on the bench...er..wrong, right?

BTW, does BCAA help with recovery? You guys consume it?
*
When you put your legs on the ground, there's a force of a similar magnitude pushing from the ground. It's just like when you run and ram a wall with your shoulder. You'll get pushed back with a force similar in magnitude to that which you exerted.

So, putting your legs on the ground while bench pressing gives you that extra bit of force compared to doing it with your legs on the bench.

Kinda lean but small. Not worth the trouble. I've seen his pics. And his leanness isn't that impressive. Any regular guy can achieve that with the proper amount of dieting. My issue is with him threatening me on msn after adding me. Then the lame thing is pm'ing other members privately to ask them if he can show them their pics. Geez.... he couldn't take it after a girl flamed him in my journal so he pm'ed her and asked her the same thing, to show her his pics on msn webcam.

LOL. I was about to access the BB thread when the word "bebeq" caught my eye. It turned out to be his journal. Read it. Read the "friendly" and somewhat sarcastic replies from you guys. I just LOl-ed.

Doesn't sound European to me. Chinese, I would say.

Sure hope he PMs me. Wanna see a pic or two. laugh.gif

Both diet and exercise are important but I would say that more emphasis should be given to the food we consume.

Counting calories is one thing while getting the right calories is another, IMO.

My friend just busted the lat pulldown yesterday. The cable freaking snapped. Hit him on the head but thankfully he's okay.
The thing is, the lat pulldown and the cable row share the same cable so now i would be without those two exercises.

And I hate pullups. cool2.gif

Hi guys, any gym near Kelana Jaya that has a monthly or 3-month membership that isn't too expensive with not-so-crowded power racks? (I was thinking True Fitness Hartamas or Jaya-33 near Section 17).

The power rack at the gym I go to is bouncy, and I can't squat away from the rack because there's no space away from the rack (don't ask, odd set up with walls and pillars).

Thanks.

Added on July 4, 2009, 12:52 amI remember now that there is a Fitness Network @ Centrepoint! You guys had a gathering there, right?

HOW WAS IT? Good enough? # of power racks? Hammer Strength machines?
*
I would recommend True Fitnes JAYA 33.

4-month contract totaling to RM 880.00 inclusive of tax.

Good equipments. Spacious. All weights and workout machines are on the same floor. Plenty of Hammer Strength machines. smile.gif

Aren't you supposed to work the grip if your poundages can't handle them anymore? I think going on straps is a last resort. Many trainees here haven't explored their maximum potential just yet.

@Jonyeap.

You should sleep sideways then if sleeping flat on your back hurts. It worked for me.
*
Sleeping sideways is the right way. My dad used to have backaches but after starting to sleep sideways, his backaches have gone away. rclxms.gif

My friend in the UK saw this mat salleh doing 50 kg DB press.
I gotta say that he has certainly "owned" our asses tongue.gif

Oh yes, what do you guys think about having tandoori and rice as a pre-bed meal?

Tandoori is certainly not oily but the idea of having rice before sleep sounds crazy to my friends.
Just wondering what you guys think. smile.gif

I've just received some 'unconventional' nutrition and exercise advice today:
(pizzaboy, can you ask your coach about these pointers whether they make sense? Because they certainly don't make any sense to me. LOL!)

1) Drinking whey in between set during workout will put the proteins to waste. It's better to take isotonic drinks. Post workout should be something with carbs (milk, bananas, eggs), then a few minutes later---whey protein.

2) Don't take protein stuff immediately after waking up. Take some carb (fruits, honey, bread, rice, porridge, etc) or chinese style soup. Then take protein (eggs, milk, whey, etc) 1/2 to 1 hour later.

3) Chin up works the triceps instead of the biceps.
Well I have lots of respect for the gym owner, but this one I can't accept.

doh.gif
http://exrx.net/Lists/Directory.html

I agree with the first and second one but concerning the third one, I don't quite agree and I believe that most of us here do not too.

The first one can be easily explained. When you workout, the glycogen supply in your muscles deplete. Any consumption of protein will be used to refill the glycogen supply and not be used for building muscles. This will burden the body as it has to convert protein into glucose. However, if fast-acting carbs are taken, they are readily used to refill the low glycogen supply of the muscles and therefore provide a fresh boost of energy. The same goes with post-workout meals. After your workout, your muscles' glycogen supply are very low. Fill them up with carbs first before consuming protein. Otherwise, the protein will be used to fill the glycogen supply and this would lead to so-called "protein-wastage" as the protein is not used for muscle-building. So, fill those empty muscles with carbs first before taking protein. The protein will then be optimally used to build your muscles.

The second statement uses the same theory as the first one. When you wake up, the glycogen supply in your muscles is low. Hence, you should refill them with carbs first before taking protein.

Was wondering if anyone's tried 10x10 for barbell curls. blush.gif

Did it for my biceps workout yesterday and booooyyy did it burn. Got a great pump too. Though, I only had strength for 3 sets of concentration curls after it. My biceps are hurtin' like a beech today. sweat.gif

I'm a fan of the 10x10. It's simply amazing. I do it for my arms, chest, back and legs. Dun mess with it. It's powerful XD

10 sets lo.

Then I'll see what other suitable exercises to incorporate into my workout but I'll normally just leave my arms alone after performing the 10x10.

However, after 4 or 5 sessions with the 10x10, I try to add in another exercise to mix things up. So far so good. smile.gif

Does anyone here find pullovers and upright rows taxing on the rotator cuffs?
I find them somewhat unnatural especially pullovers.

Any comments? tongue.gif

Pizzaboy, knowing that food digestion is 100% after consumption of the HCl pills, would an extra burst of energy be expected?

Am I right to assume that BETTER DIGESTION=MORE RELEASE OF ENERGY FROM FOOD?

Thats a complete shutdown.hahahahahhahahah!

Well, technically better digestion means, an even more efficient nutrient absorption process, therefore better distribution throughout your system.

The fundamentals of x amount of food = x amount of calories = x amount of activity still remains. Calories are king. Nutrition values are secondary.

If you want more energy, you need more calories.  icon_idea.gif  icon_idea.gif  icon_idea.gif

What I've gathered from reading here and there concerning creatine is this:

1) There are 2 phases; the loading phase and the after-loading phase.

2) The loading phase lasts for 5 to 7 days during which you consume about 20 g of creatine in a day.

3) During the loading phase, there are 2 ways of consuming creatine; 4 servings of 5g or 2 servings of 10g (I prefer to consume 10g first thing in the morning with glucolin and then another 10g post workout also with glucolin)

4) Upon completion of your loading phase, take 10g of creatine everyday (On workout days, take it post workout. On non-workout days, first thing in the morning)

5) I would do this for 2 months and then stop for a month and then continue with the loading phase once more and the cycle goes on and on.

6) Consumption of creatine with fast-acting carbs is essential to cause an insulin spike so that the creatine would be quickly carried to your muscles.

7) About 30 minutes after consuming creatine with fast-acting carbs, consume whey (same thing goes for your morning shake).

8) About an hour after that, have your solid meal.

*Some articles recommend taking creatine pre and post workout but I don't know why creatine is needed pre workout so...meh..

** It is also possible to do without the loading phase but research has shown that those who choose to load have better gains (not sure in what sense but it could be strength or lean mass)

Hope this helps a lil'. smile.gif

Haha, thats what I was planning to do. Thanks man!

What's your goal?

If it's fat loss then the shake should not be taken before cardio.

If it's muscle building then it should be taken to prevent muscle loss during cardio (but I don't really care because how much muscle can you lose? it's not like we're gonna lose 10lbs of muscle. i'd say get our 6 meals right, lift right and sleep right and stop worrying bout minor details like this one smile.gif )

Back to the issue of fructose and insulin spikes, fructose only has a GI of 38. I read somewhere that the maximum figure for GI measurement is 100 but Vitargo is said to be 7 times faster than sugar and sugar has a GI of 100 rclxub.gif

But what I'm trying to say is that while fructose is able to create an insulin spike, it wouldn't be as effective as say, glucolin. Furthermore, 4 tablespoons of glucolin contain 88g of carbs. We would have to consume 4 cans of 100Plus to obtain that biggrin.gif

Finally seen the thread huh? LOL. I was stun-ned with his posts. Thought he was joking.

But his passion is simply amazing.

Anyway, I bought a few bb magazines from Cineleisure for fun. 2 FLEXes and 1 Planet Muscle. Freaking cheap.

As for FLEX, I would say that the ads take up about 75% of the entire mag. And TEAM MUSCLETECH guys appear everywhere especially Jay Cutler. Guess the passion came from there biggrin.gif
