Jakarta..hmnnn..nothing special really...probably try their bakmi wth pansit (Actually wantan mee in short haha)

bak - hokkien for meat & mi - mi-lah - For bandung- expensiive factory outlets lor..well for those going for branded stuff - but I heard mostly replica AAA.

expensive ehh?

i hear many AA stuff selling in bandung ?

is cheap?
*
I think you're more on Bandung, better discuss this in Badung thread otherwise abit off topic dy.. For me it's expensive when nothing below RM30 for a tee-shirt. You can get cheaper t-shirt if you shop in Jakarta compare to bandung.. I was expecting those cheap rp10,000 to rp20,000 t but those in bandung nothing less than rp90K sad.gif

90k maybe for a good t shirt. street side t shirt for souvenir is only about 20k.
*
Yeah 20K or even 10-15K can get in Jakarta or even Jogja not in Bandung lor.. I did not stopby at those local street mall.. Not as interesting as those in Jodja especially Malioboro st biggrin.gif.. Wth this, for me looking for souvenir tees, The best place in whole Indonesia so far for me is actually Jogja - So many weird & nice designed Jogja T-shirts- 2nd - Bali

Oh, yeah I got the Bandung Souvenir t-shirt on top of Tangkuban Prahu volcano haha.. That also after hard bargaining and the best as u said `rp20K biggrin.gif

anybody got tips on how to navigate jakarta using the BRT? biggrin.gif unfortunately google maps doesn't really show which stops are the BRT stops hence it's hard to see which BRT is nearby my area :/

would be going for 2 weeks at bintaro hehe
*
BRT is basically bus system. Yah no BRT maps in googlemaps. The best is the image map.. one of the best is the one in wikipedia:

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

BTW why you choose area so far from the city centre? I do not think Bintaro having any BRT system yet. If you have yet to book, better book closer to city centre

Cheap shirt- Mangga Dua Mall-lah.. Cheap PC & Notebook siimilar to our LYP also the next buiding also part of the same old complex.- That IT mall is even bigger than LYP! Hotel price range RM80-RM200 for no start to 3 star.

Try looking in agoda, booking.com & etc for better pricing & range

thanks for the photo! now have to find out which attractions are nearby which stop biggrin.gif

i'm going bintaro for an industrial attachment. so after work plan to go travel around if possible. interested in the pulau seribu but not much information and bad reviews on it. also not sure whether its worth the hassle to go the bandung in the weekends and rush back.  unsure.gif
*
Advisable not to go bandung during weekend. Even normal day, u surely stuck in the horrible jam after the toll plaza entering bandung. Furthermore factory outlets there are no longer cheap, if that's yr intention

haha yeah that's what i thought.

so my plan was to explore those famous shopping centres on one day, and maybe go the theme park the other day. maybe blok M during weekdays as its kinda near bintaro on map.
*
Yeah Jakarta normally Shopping here & there but do not miss the older part of Jakarta at the end of the Northernomost BRT stop at Kota. Thereafter you can just walk further North or take a short angkutan / taxi to Farquahar Square /museum area. This area is the old Dutch Colonial square of Batavia. except they dun paint the buildings there 100% red like Malacca biggrin.gif ..

Another 1KM further, is the famous Traditional Sunda Kelapa Port.. Good for picture opportunity smile.gif
Yeah blok M slightly near to bintaro although still far. probably a short taxi ride to Blok M & you can take the Southern End BRT at Blok M to Kota... BTW, the BRT fare is fixed rate irregardless of distance.. I forgotten how much dy..~3000rp? hmm.gif

In Mangga Dua area got lot of mall? I am planning to visit few shop in Jakarta Selatan.. if stay in mangga dua how far? I am not sure where to stay, so if walk in hotel cheaper or online booking?
*
Depend. Most of the time esp bigger hotel, walk in more expensive. For smaller hotels, online & walk in slmost similar after they give u the discount but not all the time. Anyway to save time from walking from hotel to hotel, book early. From mangga dua, u can take a short tuk-tuk ride to kota or glodok brt stn. Thereafter u can take the brt direct to the last southern stop at blok m. Main interchange stn is hArmoni. Can switch lines there to more malls

Kota is where those plaza indonesia are located right? haha the price is quite cheap la a bit negligible
*
No lah. Kota is the old batavia. Old colonial buildings near to the sunda kelapa port. This stn is the last Northern stop for brt. This stn also close to mangga dua area.
Plaza indonesia is located in the centre of jakarta highrises. Just like our klcc/ sultN ismAil area.
