do u guys name ur scorpions or just refer them to their species name?
made a time lapse video of the scorpions last night. damm boring. they just move a bit then stop. then move then stop. the male just showed his pincers then went back to the burrow. the female wast moving about. nothing special. haih.
2 hours of filming and the clip is only 7 minutes long but 420mb in size.
tonight going to do it again. different angle. from inside the tank itself.

hehehe. i think the male longimanus is adult already. the female maybe got 2 or 1 more molting to go.
no wonder they are always a sleep. i keep them in a lighted room 24/7.
oh and do your scorps have any preference for food. i put a cricket yesterday and the male just went for it. thinking of changing the diet to cricket from meal worm. plus meal worms are smelly lot when they die.

don;t expect to much . using a PnS camera. just going to put the cam inside the tank at an angle so that i can see them from a perspective of a rock on the gound. last night vid was really blurry but got 1 bit where the cricket came close to the burrow of the male and the male just lunge at the cricket then dragging it back inside the burrow. total lenght of that scene:
4 seconds.

anyone of you had that type of dream before. and it was by a white/yellow scorp. maybe a YFT. hahaha. thank god it is in a dream. if real life i don't think i will be writing this.

yup. 1 observed both of them under sunlight. the male is greenish, while the female is blueish black.
i'm thinking of getting and Emperor. just to observe the difference of habits between the 2 species.
how much are Emperors now in the market?

one of the places where i go to find scorps. just behind my room. alot of creppy crawlies. well on to the main reason for this post. i caught a new scorp. it was found about 10 feet away from a long hous ethat i was visiting this morning. my first time in sexing. i think it is a male. i think it is a longimanus. another pic. still young i guess from the color of the telson.cream color.the rocks you see it sitting on is actually a base for a flase bottom tank i'm building for the scorps. if you guys cant see the pics then plz follow link Added on May 23, 2009, 11:49 pmyes sir spamming sir. hahahaha.
well if you see all of my scorps are wild caught and are caught when they pose a threat to themselves or human.
i don't simply raid the jungle for scorpions.
except for the liocheles. that 1 i really went out hunting.
now i'm finding wild crickets to breed as food for the scorps. i also have made a simple drip device to make sure that the drink dish and substrate don;t dry out when i'm on raya leave this september.
Added on May 24, 2009, 12:03 amsure it is female. ok then the male got 2 wifes already.
i'm keeping them in a cool dark area so that they are more comfortable.
with the drip system i just check on them like 2 days once.

i was going thru the v1 and v2 thread and notice that alot of those people from the v1&2 are not anymore in v3. have they stopped keeping scorps?
and about educating. my frinds are all saying that 1 bite from the longimanus can kill me.
haih difficult to explain to them.
that is not including the superstition that the brother/mother/uncle scorpion will come and find me because taking one of the family away.

QUOTE(aros @ May 24 2009, 12:05 AM) what drip system exactly? Added on May 24, 2009, 12:07 am akagidemon, try finding this in the longest yard is that a spinifer or emperor? the drip system is base on a modified IV-drip that is use on human. basicly i use the IV-drip line and modified it so that it will drip mineral water into the drink dish and let the drink dish over flow. the over flow from the drink dish will then moisten the substrate. the flow is really slow about 20 drops per minute.and 1 drop is about 1ml only.

QUOTE(rideon @ May 24 2009, 12:14 AM) these people have to hold one and see for them self how nice these creatures are. Like my friends and family members. They all say 1 sting can die. Then i picked one up on my hand and dare them to hold at least 1 min. At least that works. They know know but still dont want to keep one.. But dont hold YFT though.. you b flying with angels... who in the right mind would hold a YFT?

QUOTE(aros @ May 24 2009, 12:18 AM) just make sure the drip system does not overflood lor. i guess that you might say that. i have a drain hole also. so no flooding. but you should see the scorps when i was trying out the system and the drain hole got clog. all the scorps were running to the highest part of the enclosure. not a serious flooding just the burrowed got flooded bu 2cm of water.
