I just completed Vanguard on Insanity =.=
Died like more than 100 times...Totally imbalance.
Word of advice : Reave is the most effective skill against armor and barriers. Cannot survive Insanity without reave

In my opinion, the best mates for the final mission or any mission involving collectors are samara and miranda.
Warp + reave, you can rape scions and harbingers.
If you are a vanguard or an adept, you could use reave as a additional skill. Note : do not use reave on a target without armor and barrier. it heals instead =.=

As for missions with lotsa geths, I recommend Zaed Messani + Garus/Miranda/Tali/
Zaed, use him to learn Group Disrupter Ammo and Garus (Overload) Miranda (Warp) Tali (PERMA AI Hacking 12sec duration 9 sec cooldown. hack those shooting rockets for maximum ownage)

MUST AVOID SKILLS
- Combat drone (totally useless at higher difficulty. AI hacking is better)
- Fortification, barrier, geth shield boost (minimal gains, 12 sec cooldown prevents spamming of other abilities)
- Throw (Pull is much better)
-Shredder ammo ( Who needs this skill when you have AP ammo + warp ammo)
- Cryo ammo ( The most worthless/useless ammo skill. )

What is your skill point layout like? I'm playing a vanguard too. which branch of charge did you choose?

Heavy Charge ( You really need the 2 secs of slowmo to decide what you wanna do next)
Champion ( I chose this for the little extra in cool down reduction time )
Heavy Shock wave ( For knocking enemies out of cover or to their deaths, pull might be a better choice though)
Squad AP ammo or Heavy Reave (Entirely up to you)
Inferno Ammo (optional, I already max out all the necessary skills)

I chose CLAYMORE SHOTGUN

Vanguard tips:
When your life is red, simply charge any enemy to regenerate your barrier to full strength and simply hop for cover. When your biotic skills and upgrades are maxed our properly,
your charge has a cooldown of 3-4 seconds. This take practice though, you must know when to charge and who to charge. Aim for enemies behind cover so that u can kill them
and use their cover lol.

Max out your melee attack, its is extremely painful. Unmodded, you can deal up to 35% of an normal enemy shield per hit. When max out with heavy muscle weave +50% melee damage and
some armor upgrade + 25% melee damage. 2 hits is enough to rid an enemy of their shields.

Claymore shotgun is the second most damaging weapon behind Widow. On Insanity, one hit ON THE HEAD can KO 99% of the normal enemies (even with full shield/barrier) While you reload, use your melee attack if the enemy is still alive.

Yeah but I prefer the Scimitar, it's the safer route with extra bullets per clip, weak on armor but with AP, it's pretty win-win IMO. Reave is good. Those behind cover I think using Shockwave is better, but if only left one or two, just charge all the way.

You must have leveled up alot to get alot of points to almost lvl 4 every skill.

I reached level 30 right after completing all the loyalty missions. My second playthrough though, you get 25% bonus experience. At level30, you will have 50 points. So you can max out 5/7 skills.

Everyone that played ME will tell you that it's HIGHLY recommended that you finish the 1st game. Even though I'm only over half way through the game, I can already see alot of reference from the 1st episode.

FINISH MassEffect and DONT RUSH THROUGH before you start Mass Effect2

Just finish my session of ME2 for today; I respec my Vanguard so I can max out charge asap. Experiment with both branches of charge and I have to agree that heavy charger is the better choice. The 100% shield and 2 sec slow-mo really does help in alot of situation. The Other branch with aoe effect is pretty bad actually, the small radius makes it mediocre; if only it had wider radius I might had just pick this one. However, for now I will take the 100% shield and slow-mo. I'm actually quite happy with the Vanguard now, I take back all my rant/complain about the Vanguard and shotgun.

Having heavy charger ASAP definitely does make vanguard the class that it's suppose to be.

I FINALLY got to play this yesterday (I should just be called the "late gamer") and so far it hasn't disappointed.

In a nutshell here is the sequence of events that took place upon unwrapping the box as I got home yesterday:
1) "ooohs" and "aaahs" at the packaging. Very nicely done and well worth the extra cash
2) Pop in disc and begin installation
3) Register game at BSN. So far so good.
4) Redeem Cerberus Code. Says I have the Collector's Armour... Uh-oh
5) Prompt for disc 2... That was quick.
6) Redeem actual Collector's Armour code. Says I have Collector's Armour. Uh...
7) Desperately attempt to find list of redemptions.
8) Game finishes installing
9) Found list of redemptions. Yay!
10) Attempt to download all DLCs before starting.
11) See Zaeed's download side. WTF
12) Launch game
13) Cue sporadic "oohs" and "aaahs" here and there.

8 hours later, I must say its a lot... different than Mass Effect. Not in a "Hey, let's streamline everything for masses" (AKA dumbing down) but in a more focused way that actually makes more sense than before.

I'm enjoying it so far and the only niggling thing I have is that Miranda looks freaky since her eyes can't seem to focus properly and she perpetually has that "doll eyed" stare. Brrrr

she's not the only one, it happens to every npc sometimes. Their eyes should be back to normal without you even noticing it.
