Quoted from someone who have played as Vanguard(I feel exactly the same) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « The range, power, and speed of the shotgun has been gimped to hell. Most of the firefights take place in long range, making it useless, and mid-range is borderline useless. Even when your character is at close range, the shotgun doesn't neccesarily kill in 1 shot. By the time you shoot the shotgun and pump it to shoot again, you could use 2 shots from the heavy pistol or half a clip from the burst pistol and the enemy will be dead. Because of the shot speed of the rilfe, along with the reduced ammo cap and power along with the increased gameplay speeed and enemies, going up close in the shotty will get you killed 80% of the time. The only time it is effective is after using Charge, and even then, you will get worked by all the enemies that are grouped up at the end of the room.
I like the ammo powers, but over all, you don't need them as long as a squad mate has them. Shockwave is a good power, but only effective when enemies are behing cover. Start-up on it is way too slow to use effectively in the close-up action of the Vanguard to be useful.
In short, the close-up game of the Vanguard is a lot riskier, and not rewarding. Gameplay forces you to camp, and the shotgun is pretty much **** when compared to the pistols.

I played ME1 and i dun really understand the story line. Cause I don really like the long conversation. Mass Effect 2 still got lots of conversation is it? But I like the gameplay, very good.

It's a user's opinion. She's basically telling you that the shotgun got gimped.
You cant even use an assault rifle, lawl.

Btw I don't think it makes the Vanguard boring to play, i feel it actually makes it more challenging, and you've gotta admit, charge , though very risky, is bloody cool to use. But that said, Vanguard is not so suitable for newcomers This post has been edited by Honky: Jan 28 2010, 04:20 PM

yeap, i'm playing as a vanguard. I gotta say i agree. I always end up behind cover shooting with my pistols until i killed most of the enemies or lower their defenses only i could do a charge that have a higher probability of me surviving. the shotgun is quite true the way i experience it, at times, though close range, its not doing much dmg.
I just contacted EA singapore, and they said i activated my cerberus card for the xbox 360 version. That explains why my bioware social site has the xbox 360 DLC lol. Took a screenshot of my card for verification, hopefully they could fixed it.

hey SMG and assault rifle different right?!?!? LOL
shotgun power is depends on the ammo that u use ... should always use the ammo which work against the enemy, i.e. there are ammo which deals more damage to certain enemy (geth, mechs etc ...) i you follow this i believe it shouldn't be a big problem!

Does Mass Effect 2 run on a 2.7 Ghz Dual core processor? The minimum requirements is a 1.8 Ghz Core 2 Duo processor.

QUOTE(KayK @ Jan 28 2010, 05:02 PM) Can you run this?test your system at the following website... The thing I'm currently using a 1.8 Ghz Dual Core processor which is insufficient according to the website. I'm thinking upgrading to a 2.8 Ghz Dual Core processor. Any can help me know whether I'll be able to play Mass Effect 2 with the upgrade? This post has been edited by Loreburner: Jan 28 2010, 05:52 PM

In ME1, IINM, Vanguard class gets to use the AR. Like what my quote said, the ammos you use doesnt really matter if your teammate has it. Best upgrade shockwave, but the time for it to execute is waaay too long. I jst use nade launcher(like 3 shots) on the all mini-bosses(inclusive of the Archangel mission).
