I should read the Codex a bit more... Think of it as what happened to the Batarians; Batarians like slavery, Council does not. Thus, Council bans Batarians. Only for the Quarians it would've been "played with AI".
*
The council didnt ban the Batarians. Batarians quit as associate members, cause of humans colonising their "Batarian zone of interest".

Anyone using 64-bit here? I have to reformat and install Windows 7 again cos I'm using RC7100 and since retail comes with a 64-bit disc, I'm thinking why not? I just hope there aren't any issues with ME2.

Registered game owners finally get custom avatars on the social site. Not as great as Dragon Age's character portraits but it's something. I love Legion tongue.gif.

No bro, you just chose the wrong people for the job. I think the list is a few pages back. For me :

Tunnels : Tali
First fire team : Garrus
Second fire team : Garrus
Escort : Mordin

Everyone loyal, all upgrades. The first time I did it :

Tunnels : Legion
First fire team : Garrus
Second fire team : Garrus
Escort : Zaeed

Also worked but Mordin died so I reloaded.

yea, i finished the game and i found out this is the method to achieve no one left behind plus my oldest load files cannot choose my first fire team anymore. I am pretty much lazy to replay the game, damn bioware give me hint on loading scene telling me that whatever i do in ME2, effect in ME3.

I probably predict in ME3 that some of my team member in ME2 might not join my crew or some team member might give me side mission to do which either give experience or give some awesome weapon and i "almost" certainly believe Ashley will join me in ME3 since i do not help

Maybe. Some EA rep hinted that something 'far-reaching' will be coming from Mass Effect in Dec 2011 unless I'm getting mixed up tongue.gif.

Hell yeah. I want to see Ash in action without ME1's retarded AI. Garrus is so much better now.

You guys liked Ash? The xenophobic soldier? I'll admit that she was a far more interesting character than Kaidan was, but she had little redeeming features other than her "deathwish".

That being said, I expect her/Kaidan to pull a Carth and come back with a promotion or admiral in ME3

Ash wasnt exactly xenophobic. She seemed more like the conservative type to me. Her distrust towards aliens might have also been due to her granpa and Shanxi.

In KotOR, I disliked Carth especially after the big reveal and the Saul Karath part. Kaiden isn't much better. I got the 'best friend' vibe from Jacob more than from Kaiden even though Kaiden's conversations seemed more personal.

You can change Ash anyway, with some Paragon options.

She stated many times that she hated and distrusted them. The first time you talk to her in the Normandy, she questioned your orders to allow them free reign around the ship. That's xenophobia man.

The issue with her grandpa was over the fact that he was the only human admiral to ever surrender and what has her sister (Shanxi right?) got to do with anything?

Throughout the entire game, she constantly makes you 2nd guess any attempt to give aliens any power (Especially those scenes after missions where Liara offers to help)

What I meant with that Carth remark was, that Carth came back in the sequel as an admiral. So, by ME3, I'm guessing Kaiden/Ashley won't just be a lieutenant/Gunnery Sergeant anymore.

I don't remember being able to change Ash (Or any other character for the matter) in ME1. You *can* convince her that her thinking is bad or whatever, but in the next cutscene, she still exhibits the same xenophobic behaviour.

No Bioware game to date has allowed you to shape how an NPC grows. In most cases, you're just a catalyst for a change that happens out of your control.

Only Obsidian did with KOTOR2.

Psst, her sister's name is... err... it starts with L I think. I remember her saying she has 3 sisters?

Shanxi was the colony mentioned in her story on her granddad.

Yes... Admiral Carth. Shudder.

Maybe not as much as KotOR2, but here are some examples. Note, I did rush through KotOR2.

Dragon Age : 'Character hardening' of Alistair and Leliana.

Mass Effect 1 : Influencing Kaiden until he calls Udina a '*******'. I can't remember if he does this even if you don't play female Shepard and kill Ash.
Making Ash less xenophobic.

That's hardly influencing. In Dragon Age its more of the characters are either normal or they like you. ME1's example is also pretty typical of what Bioware have done in the past. Basically, the character's growth is always the same... just a matter of whether you are willing to "activate" it.

In KotOR 2, you could turn almost all your companions into super evil muthas or paragons of justice and virtue (And into jedis or sith if you were persistent enough)... It wasn't some static veiled static "level up" mechanic. You literally could influence whether they were evil or good. Now, THAT is character influencing.
