I checked the coverage area but too bad, it only covers until 200m away from my area... I'm on the 'suburb' of the coverage area... could my area possibly has the coverage? very near but not seen touched.

hi everyone, digi promoters told me that the map showing coverage area is not updated for a long time and he told me that maybe my area is already covered... he also says even if it is not, i will still get high speed access, is it true?

The only sure way to check is to search the DiGi 3G signal yourself, either via 3G phone or USB modem.

High speed only when HSDPA is avaiable, otherwise only EDGE speed you will get.

Hi, I do not have digi sim card which has 3G enabled but I do have 3G phone. I tried 3g phone with a maxis sim card and i could only detect maxis 3G...for modem, same... i used maxis broadband before and i detected HSDPA ... does this apply to digi? Must i use a digi sim card with 3g enabled in order to detect?

Funny, I am using DiGi sim and can detect DiGi, Maxis and Celcom 3G signal, most likely your area don't have DiGi 3G.

Have you checked here as well?

I've checked the web, but i'm on the vicinity of the coverage area, which is very near (about 200m).
Hmm, what is did was first , click web > connect to internet > a list of option pop out, include maxis 3G internet, streaming and various other but no digi.

Thanks.. I've subscribed to digi broadband and im able to detect hsdpa in my area... Speed is quite stable, ranging from 100 to 130kbps at the moment. Better than maxis in terms of latency and responsiveness.

For those who wish to use a usb router, you can buy the latest released aztech wireless N router plus HSPA Support for 3G mobile Broadband ( HW550 - 3G .

I have bought this 1 with rm199 and it has easy set-up, just plug and play. It has 4 ports and u can create wireless access point!

The modem is called Aztech HW550 ? only RM199? Seems cheap hoho
*
Yes, it's the cheapest one i can find in market. It was just out on 5 june 2009. Very friendly user, you can just push a button on the modem to connect/disconnect without going to web ui interface.

RM199 for 3G router is considered cheap at this moment, some more it's 802.11n... i checked from Aztech webpage for product spec, it only supports up to UMTS (3G) only? I believe it should support 3.5G....

anyone know what is the different between HW550-3G and HW831?
*
It supports up to 3.5G , cleary stated in the manual and on the modem (the LED). So no worries, speed is the same.

Just to reassure some users that HW-550 3G works flawlessly with digi wireless bb. I've been using for a week without any problem. It is compatible with most usb modem available.

Just call 016 299 3333, they will ask you about the numbers printed on your sim card, then they will be able to tell you your network ID.
Really good price you bought one. thumbup.gif

I was lucky to have found that usb router since they had only 1 in their stock. I had searched in several shops in several malls and there was only one shop which sold this.

The router has quick response, unlike other. You can check which modem it supports in its website which has complete list (the box doesn't have complete list)

The coverage area in the web is not accurate. Mine is shown not covered but in fact it is in the coverage area.
Digi is expanding their network in Penang. Digi will have covered 90% of Penang in septemper according to a digi employee.

Yeah, Digi broadband's latency is still bearable. Around 100++ ms. I guess this is only important if you're gaming but internet experience is not always about gaming. Things like downloading, BT, surfing, streaming, etc seems to be same like Streamyx to me. Of course the speed is a lot faster.
*
Digi's latency is good compared to that of maxis. with maxis, it is almost impossible to gaming, eg, dota. but with maxis, it is surprisingly smooth. tested taiwan games, hk games, us games all with no problems.

as for wireless broandband, digi is consider good. but wired connection will still be better than wireless in terms of latency.

@NicolasLau
Sometimes, my digibb falls back to EDGE network and i have a notice EDGE has a higher latency than the HSDPA. Surfing ok... online gaming... too bad
which is which? but i guess is maxis impossible for gaming while digibb can online gaming?
Actually, I find digi bb performs much better than screwmyx in many ways. Downloading, any country always fast, BT, I set it to only 20 global connection and i can get 1mbps speed with digibb, surfing, nice respond from euro sites, streaming(mostly nvr require much buffering time)
*
I'm comparing digi explore with maxis.
Using digi explore, already dumped maxis, impossible to gaming.

If you experience EDGE speeds frequently, set your modem to receive only WCDMA band only, so you can be connected to HSDPA all the time.

Hi, I am wondering anyone staying 24th floor  Ridzuan Condo, Sunway able to use Digi Broadband or any other high-rise that able to connect to DBB?

Thank you very much.

I stayed on 20th floor in an apartment which is located on high ground. The maximum speed i get is 1.4mbps, quite consistently.
