yeah well... the not so nice thing is the design... i can get an n81 and some would say i've got an n96..wow..
i could get an n85 and some would also say i got an n81..
but nokia's design is going in that direction...what to do..
same as SE too..their designs are going towards g705/w705/w995 design...reallllly similar in shape and size..

their current design like n81's in my opinion are great but don't make it so much similar to other models because well, each user wants a phone that looks diff from the other model..a bit unique..
i dont want to get an N96 and having people say i have an n81..that's just what i dont want..

yes that pic is nice..though at it's actual size it's more grainy than a daytime picture because there's very little lighting.. all cameraphones have this, it only differs in the degree of the graininess..

Nope.. I have one myself and it works really well. keep in mind that N95 8gb, N82 and N95, N73 has Tessar 2.8/5.6 and better aperture/focal length than newer N85, N79 and N96 (which in a way means that new isnt always better) plus all there of these new phones doesnt have OMAP 3D GPU which is on n82 n95 and n95 8gb..which helps in the image processing.
N73 n95 n95 8gb and n82 has a much more mature firmware that has better algorithm and image compression thus making it better. reviews will tell the same.
a quote from other forums : "I would personally prefer Nokia improved sensor and aperture instead of boosting megapixels. Consumers make assumptions like "an 8 megapixel camera is better than a 5 megapixel camera", but that is just nonsence if the 8 megapixel has shitty optics and/or sensor and/or smaller aperture size."
Consider this.. a THREE year old phone like N95 and TWO year old phones like N95 8GB and N82 can generally take a picture as good as new phones like n85 and n96 and the differences are not major. It means in 2 years since n82 came out, nokia hasn't made any significant or no progress in making their cameras better.

QUOTE(Eguy1314 @ Mar 23 2009, 07:53 PM) So if the phone release which phone will you prefer? N85 or N86? if i were given these two choices... i would say n86 as it has a better and newer generation led flash among other things like it's features.. Added on March 23, 2009, 10:48 pmQUOTE(Seaedge @ Mar 23 2009, 08:25 PM) totally agree on alpha. used 3 model of them and i kept plenty of their photos. and the quality is yet on par if not better than any phone models available. having said that, there is also other phone can produce even better picture; those phone having a CCD sensor like imobile 902 and Sharp 903SH. however i reserve my comments on those photos to compare with 8mpx phone since i havent own either one of it. just wan to say that never to say a phone camera crap unless you really own one to compare. yeah CCD sensor camera which can yield superior quality than CMOS Censor... sharp 903 hard to get though cause it's only released in japan. imobile 902 has a really good camera despite being cheaper than most if not all cameraphones and despite being an old phone.. QUOTE(Dlim88 @ Mar 23 2009, 11:41 PM) Of course in n86 lo...8mp ma again 8mp doesn't always mean the quality would be better. a small sensor with 8mp would lose to a larger sensor with 5mp.. fyi, larger megapixels benefit people who do large format printing because the image maintains it's size and lessens the pixelization as the MP goes higher.

im cant give an exact date as i'm not sure myself. but i do not recommend buying the phone so soon as it will much much more expensive, and in the mean time you can read reviews and user opinions on this phone. So you can decide whether spending money on this phone is worth it or maybe u should get a cheaper 5mp N series like n82, n95 n85 n79 etc...

original price of n86 will of course be more expensive than ori n85. it's a new phone after all and has better specs than n85.
can't really tell about the ap price because it depends on how long it will take for ori to come in and the demand for this phone. if ori comes in earlier, ap price will be lower.
if ori comes in a bit late like much awaited 5800, then the early ap price will skyrocket through the roof..

QUOTE(FaezFarhan @ Mar 28 2009, 03:56 AM) will this fon be good? i hate n85.. Yeah i agree. I suspect it will be because of the variable aperture settings and higher mp (possibly better) camera. Flash capabilities are somewhat similar to older n-series phones i guess. Physically i'm not so sure.. nokia needs to make a more durable phone and not just make it an eyecandy but later breaks...like cracked keypads, d pads etc..

QUOTE(ckming21 @ Mar 28 2009, 12:15 PM) The design almost same as N85 , why nokia dont create some design special a bit ? I think it's because this type of new design is getting more attention and better than previous n-series design like n73 n80 etc. It derives from N81 and then n78, n96, n79, n85 maybe because the initial n81 design receives so much attention that nokia just want to keep it for a while longer.

but the bad thing about this type of design is an n96 would look like n81.. i dont want that to happen..
and you know what i mean.. we dont want our nokia phones to look like another model..especially if it's an inferior model to ours.

i dont wanna go any smaller than 2.8". nobody wants a small screen like their friends..

QUOTE(Dlim88 @ Mar 30 2009, 09:51 PM) Too big la for a non touch screen phone too big for a non touch screen? if you're saying that, then you're saying that samsung innov8, n95 8gb and other high end phones are no good in terms of size? a lot of people buy these 2.8" lcd phones because of the big screen among other features.. if you said 3.2" was too big for a non touch screen phone then maybe you're right.. but if 2.8", it's a proven best seller for non touch screen phone. like BBXiong said, if you like movies or just like eyecandy.. a bigger screen would be the choice for you.

QUOTE(Mr.Ken @ Mar 31 2009, 04:59 AM) 3.2" still ok for non touch screen phone, manufacturer can make it even bigger like 3.5" by changing the form factor of the phone itself. yeah.. correct by changing the form factor of the phone.. but that will make the screen longer right and not wide like in 5800?

yeah that is what i mean.. diagonally it's 3.2". like tv or lcd screen la.. well known fact already.
but a longer screen would make a phone taller and be less pocketable.

to keep a resolution of the usual 320x240 like in so many nokia phones, i think 2.8" or 3.0" would be the max to keep the size of the phone pocketable.

QUOTE(Eguy1314 @ Apr 1 2009, 12:13 AM) Does it need a lot cost to create a 2.8 inch phone? If not why don't the nokia use 2.8 line N95(8GB) instead of 2.6 . nokia need to put some differences into their phones so that it can be priced differently. n79 and n85 has the same specs but n85 has a bigger and better screen. if n79 also has the same screen size, it will be a direct competitor of n85 and nokia doesnt want that. another thing is that the n series is more expensive with N-9x series and cheaper as it goes down to N-8x and N-7x. Of course nokia has to set a different class for each of the models..like n9x having bigger screen, and n8x having smaller screen than n9x, and n7x being a candybar phone.. u get the idea.
