If i want to use GPS on N82,do i need to buy any external devices or any software to use it?By the way, i'm still not understand what is "A-GPS"? Some ppl say is GPS enable phone. And i'm not understand what its mean. Can anyone mind to explain clearly to me please?
*
The N82 has GPS built in, so no need to buy any external devices.
You can use the Nokia Map that comes along with the phone. But you need to pay for subscription for the voice navigation (that means there is voice to tell you turn left or turn right).
Many users tend to install Garmin into their N82. Garmin has better features than Nokia Map.

A-GPS is Assisted GPS.
It is like a "fire starter".
Assume you want to start a fire for a BBQ, you light a match to fire up the charcoal. It will take some time for the charcoal to burn. This is = GPS take some time to lock in the satellites.

If you use a "fire starter" on the charcoal, the charcoal will start to burn faster.
This is = A-GPS faster to lock in the satellites.

So for N82, A-GPS is built-in to assist in locking the satellites faster, but it make use of mobile phone operator signal.
Therefore, when you use A-GPS, you will be charged a small fee by your mobile phone operator.

Only A-GPS lock in the satellites faster. After that it is the same.

I feel N82 Loudspeaker when in telephone call is not loud enough, even set at maximum full bar  sad.gif
*
If you are driving, then it is not loud enough. But if you are in a quiet room, then it is loud.

I have the SE Bluetooth headset. But sometimes forgot to bring along, then have to use the speaker when call comes in.
All Bluetooth headset battery can last for many days (with one charge).

Probably the technician did not do a good job for you. Go back and ask him to rectify it.

recently i just go to the shop and ask the price for n82...the AP price rise till rm1255 (which is more expensive than last time i asked, last time only rm1155)....and original price around rm1400...is it better for me to get ori set since the price gap just around rm200...
*
For me, I will go for the original set. Unless the AP set seller is your very good friend. smile.gif

You have the advantage there. For many of us, we don't have such advantage. If we have this advantage, we will go for AP set like you.

V20 is the most stable firmware for N82 at the moment...
*
With V20, I find that the GPS lock in to the satellites in more than 2 minutes.
With V30, the GPS lock in time is around 45 seconds.

If you installed GMXT on your phone and you want the battey life stays longer... Follw the step below to removed some files...

The new garmin kills the battery life on our phones. There is a program called TSRAutostart.exe that is draining the battery. If you have jbtaskman and kill the process, it will just start again when you restart your phone. Here is a solution to stop that file from automatically starting, thus greatly increasing your battery life.

To stop that file from restarting, plug your phone into your computer and use the mass storage setting. Then, delete these two files

\sys\bin\CardRunner.dll
\resource\plugins\CardRunner.RSC

This will stop that battery hog file from starting up. If you install jbtaskman you can kill the process after your run garmin. This will increase your battery. It works for me, and i use the N82...

Does this really work? Anyone tried removing the files as described above?

hi all,
i had my N82 since December '07,so far all was well...
But suddenly just now,a yellow dot with red ring around it formed on the LCD...its small but very visible and very annoying...
Any of you guys experience this before....i don't think its due to pressure or sumthin mayb the LCD gone.....
But the weird thing is that,i switched my phone of for about 10 minutes..the dot seem smaller and changed its shape.... rclxub.gif

Any suggestions?Comments?
Thanxx all

This is called a hot pixel. This particular pixel is weaker than the rest of the pixels on the screen. When the current passes through this pixel, it gets hot faster than the rest. That is why it is brighter than the rest.
Not sure how to cure it on a mobile phone.

Tried with mine just now and the pictures doesn't have pink tint even on printed white pages.

Probably there's some problem with the camera's internal timing with the red light..they doesn't coordinate that well.
*
I agree with you Eve. Mine also don't have the red tint.
