What to do, that's what employers want. Sure we can promise heaven and earth but when they ask what cert do you have.. then how? tongue.gif

You're kinda right, on the other hand, being a certificate whore, doesn't make me at least feel or think i am better smile.gif ....its more of self pleasure than anything else. Don't get me wrong, i am not against certification and trainings, i am just against stupid titles like Certified Ethical Hacker, what a load of cow dung biggrin.gif

Hi jayded,

Sorry but gotta ask you this question. What is your relationship to EC-Council? Or are you recommending CEH out of your own personal experience? Perhaps you can roughly throw us a number (the estimated cost involved)? Thanks.

hey buddy, sorry for the late reply. I'm actually with a Training Centre and we're in the midst of becoming EC-Council's Authorized Training Partner.

Price range should be RM 5399 onwards estimated.

cheers!

well, the good thing here is that the course is fully claimable with HRDF. But i bet ya, many companies her still neglect the importance of security. I'm sure those in security will agree with me.

To become an ATC, there is a certain upront commitment purchase of kits and licence fee i believe.

Hmmmm how does an employer get refunded thru HRDF by the way? How does an employer qualify? Is there any chance the refund will be rejected? And oh, if one cannot afford the full course, how much just to take the exams? And there are certain requirements right? And oh, no sign as of yet of a response from EC-Council from the email you sent earlier smile.gif

For an employer to be qualified for a HRDF, the employer must be already a contributor to the HRDF.
Check with the HR to know whether your company is already a HRDF contributor.

MDeC also have such funds for employees of non-MSC and MSC status company to apply when taking up certification.
However, the reimbursement for MSC status companies are much higher and covers a lot more.

Hmm... I'd like to know the exam cost too. I have seen the full V6 slide set and it looks interesting, a good overview of computer/network security. A tad superficial though, wondering how much the course itself compensates for that. Looks like it'd be good for sysadmins, but might not be that relevant for penetration testers.

Agree with u....all I can say is ceh is just the foundation....most of the exploit, tricks in the ceh even version 6 is not really reliable since most of attack have their own countermeasures..
some people more interested with 0day, doing research, etc2..
but again, sometime in this industry, we still need the paper even though we don't really need it....just because our client want to see our credential..that's it

CEH Overview

The goal of our five-day Certified Ethical Hacker (C|EH) Version 6 course is to equip information security professionals with the knowledge to identify and correct exploits that make information systems vulnerable to attack.

You will learn some of the latest techniques and tools for penetration testing because the best way to protect an organisation from malicious hackers is to be skilled in the art of ethical hacking.

During our Certification Training Program, you will live, learn, and take the (C|EH) Version 6 examination at our training centre. This blended-learning program employs outcome-based (Lecture | Lab | Review) delivery - that focuses on preparing you with the real-world skills required to obtain your certification and to hit the ground running in your career.

CEH Benefits

Given the complexity and scale of today's corporate networks, effective penetration testing may be the only way to find out how secure a network really is. Ethical Hackers can provide real evidence of weaknesses or provide real assurance that current controls are working effectively.

This course will significantly benefit security officers, auditors, security professionals, site administrators, and anyone who is concerned about the integrity of the network infrastructure.

Technical certification is a sound investment in your career - and your organisation. Although certification does not guarantee success, research has shown that it can have a significant impact on:

Morale and confidence
Efficiency and productivity on the job: 85% of managers view certified employees as more productive (Gartner Study)
Career advancement: 70.8% of IT managers view certification as a criteria for promotion (Gartner Study)
Financial rewards
