When Babel misses, it's not a miss, it is a good shot, but he is unlucky. xD

It is a gamble tactic by Rafa. 6 defenders with 3 centre defenders, 2 on the flank, one is the middle.
But soomehow with defence look quite shaky most of the time with 3 centre defenders, may be understanf not enough or not use to play with this system.

I thought our defenders were awesome last night. Even Dossena played brilliantly. Our midfield was pretty solid too. We only lack our striking force. --> Babel lol

Still... do you remember how many sitters did Robbie miss? Luck wasn't there for him. *Oh yeah Mascherano seem to have a talent for shooting from afar Benny and Aurelio are REALLY GOOD. They remind me of Rafa's Valencia This post has been edited by Yuka Yuka: Feb 8 2009, 02:09 PM

Yuka Yuka, yea, but did you see how hard he worked for the team whenever he was sent on? He runs EVERYWHERE, and he's really hardworking. He was beginning to settle into the team, when rafa decided to drop him... *sigh*
Added on February 8, 2009, 2:13 pmBenny is awesome. Really good "twisting" ability, and Aurellio, as you said, played brilliantly.

Getting Started

Aurelio MOTM for me, benayoun was brilliant too. It's weird how a 'B team' can come up with such positive responses from us, compared to our 'A Team' = P I think rafa should realise benayoun is a great player, i think he could play quite well in the middle, he can dribble very well and is probably one of the most intelligent footballers in our squad. N'gog didn't do too badly, still young, I can see him developing into a good footballer. I would REALLY like to see Daniel Pacheco get a call up some time soon, he's been brilliant for the reserve and youth team recently.

Upon seeing our starting line-up, it took me some time to realise this wasn't a league cup game. So Portsmouth are struggling and have only won 2 games under Tony Adams but with the league as stake, Rafa once again left me wondering how we could afford to leave the likes of Riera, Kuyt, Alonso and Torres on the bench. We started with 6 defenders (Skrtel,Agger, Carra, Aurelio, Dossena and Arbeloa) so forgive me for thinking we were playing at the Bernabeu. Like some of you, I have to agree that Aurelio had an awesome game, definitely one of his best in a red shirt. Benayoun was a constant threat with his mazy runs. As for Babel and N'Gog, now you know why Rafa hasn't been playing them much. I responded to a poster yesterday that expressed surprise at Rafa's exclusion of the two but like I said, Babel lacks vision while N'Gog lacks just about everything but pace. Fairplay though that both are young and will improve.
Comeback Kings While it takes a great deal of character for a team to come from behind to take all 3 points, it raises the already high blood pressure levels of Liverpool fans, me included. Why is it we only start to play when we go a goal down? I swear to you that in some games, I'm almost wishing we would conceded early just to give the players a jolt.
Agger & Skrtel Notice how far up the pitch they were playing this morning? Agger managed to earn a free kick near the edge of the opposition penalty box as he tried to find his way past 2 defenders. I've lost count the number of times Agger was seen bringing the ball all the way up the park. Not only did Skrtel do well defensively, he was basically parked at the half-way line as he slotted into the central right position of our 3 man defence later on in the game. He was operating almost like a right back.
I must admit that I thought it was all over after we conceded our 2nd. I was going to text my friends telling that it is now well and truly over especially since Chelsea contrived to draw against Hull at the bridge no less. Needless to say I am pretty relieved.
