heylow guys,

I'm a newbie here, but right now I'm studying at UniKL MIAT taking a degree course in aircraft engineering maintenance, so I'm looking for a place to do an On Job Training (OJT) in the aviation industry for this semester break on mid June because I want to fill up the work schedule by doing practical on life aircraft. Besides that, at MIAT I also do a practical with some aircraft to complete training log book, but it still cannot be certified if I want to seat the LWTR exam. Currently I'm semester 6 students, so I'm only having 1 semester for theory and next year, my last semester will be a practical semester. But I've planned, I keen to take the LWTR license in this 2 years period, therefore, I need to fill up the work schedule as much as I can before I finish up my degree course at MIAT, then I want to submit to DCA for LWTR exam. I hope anyone can help me for the OJT.

Please help me bro..

may i know how long (duration) is ur degree course?

Airasia engineer should wear red+white colour shirt - looks like MANU or Ferrari enginner rclxms.gif

Btw, saw Airasia sponsored logo on WILLIAMS team's car look weird (blue colour+white wording) on the spoiler there wink.gif

I found a threat regarding to the airasia poor maintenance plane which is belongs to gto3000 on zerotohundred.com(automotive forum)

gto3000:
Hi, first I would like to apoloze if the post is not OK in here ...
Because I feel like it is a responsible to voice out about my concern ... on Air Asia Plane Maintenance ... I have send countless email to Air Asia, guestsupport@airasia.com, or callup the Call Center only to put on HOLD for 1 hours plus ....
I ever post an comment on blog.airasia.com, but the post never published ...
Below is the messages I sent to Air Asia:-

Dear AirAsia,
Just some minor input about AirAsia ... maintenance on airplane. I have submit in my feedback through AirAsia web site, but nobody ever reply & ever call the Call Center 03-21729222, the voice center just pass me around. Hope you can divert me to the right person.

During my last flight with AirAsia on Febuary, 2009, the AirAsia plane I taken was in very poor maintenance & condition, as attach some photo I took after I have safely landed at the airport.
On the wing section, you can notice that they use some kind of silver tape just to secure the broken metal pieces....
Thank you !

Attach is the photo I taken on the Wing Portion on Air Asia Plane !

I think its a semi-regimental.sorry typo.
Need to walk in form, cannot smoke, the discipline are very strict.
*
what is mean by regiment? hmm.gif

Ai ya, all aircraft engineering school also very strict with discipline one.. we're not like american school can wear jeans or anything to class and work.. If come late to class = no commitment = stand outside and learn rclxms.gif .. long hair minus exam mark too tongue.gif

Btw, 18 yro is consider as legal smoker so u can smoke la, BUT at smoking area, depend ur school rules and regulations..

Not MIAT? lol

Nilai is probably the best in terms of campus life. But i heard they don't even have any study week before final exams over there.
*
who said no study week.. we've got study and revision week before final exam.. is not that easy taking easa course at NUC even i'm only doing the 1st sem (only 4 module, no+ malaysian studies) now i still can feel the stress.. we got test every 2 week time until final exam (30/40 is minimum passing mark, if u failed u resit till u pass sweat.gif )

campus life so so only.. u back frm class sleep, eat, revision then a day pass by.. Sem break also only 1 week but can balik kampung la wink.gif

Btw, i got test tmr doh.gif

hakunamatata, now you studying at Nilai right?

So what is the total cost for all. Can you tell us more about it. Cause I need more information about it.

If you can tell us everything. That will be great if do so.
*
Course fee is around rm40,000 - include a diploma cert fron NUC and EASA 13 module exam and EASA part-66 textbook from University of Perth.

Resit 1 EASA module = RM800(but the 800 is include textbook) 13x8=RM10,400

2 years study and half year OJT with NUC partners

Facility wise, teaching facility in class is the best alrdy i think and the hanger is 90% complete + new plane arriving soon.
Good quality lecturer, some very strict, some not that strict.
Assesment test every 2 weeks time, normal class usually hv quest, tutorial and practical.

Only got 1 small problem, NUC is lack of malaysian studies lecturer.. for my sem I'm suppose to take 4module EASA + malaysian studies but due to lack of lecturer.. we hv to take in at another sem which is very troublesome for us.. cry.gif

p.s. -not sure the course fee include the uniform fees or not. I think yes. uniform white colour shirt and black slack (only will be wearing uniform in 2nd sem)

Ok, thats good information.

About the resit, RM800 include the class or just textbook and the fees for exam?

Where you gonna sit for the EASA exam? in NUC?

How about accommodation? Hostel? or must rent? it cost around?

PTPTN max reach how much? and also other scholarship.

Why 2nd sem only wear uniform?
*
1) at NUC President hall.. EASA staff will handle it.. our lecturer is only allow to arrange us to sit for the exam inside the hall
2) Hostel for twin sharing off-campus is rm800 for long sem .. on-campus ard rm1k for long sem.
3) PTPTN max for diploma is 24k. Scholarship available also

abt the resit i'm not so sure only the paper or class also.. will cfm from my lecturer.

Maybe to avoid waste of uniform due to student quiting after 1st sem? hmm.gif

http://www.nilai.edu.my/images/courses/mod_DEngAME.jpg - course module.

For 1st sem: math, physic, electrical fundamental, basic aerodynamic

2nd sem onward, u can choose, but the 4 module at 1st sem are must pass in order to comply the requirement for advance module.

I also must agree with you. if you are a average family, if not direct join tame than you have no way to get in than go college with $$$.

Aviation is really interesting, but if you can achieved your goal. hehe
*
If u want cheap (I mean really cheap), u can study on ur own and just take the 13module paper. Each paper cost rm400.

Probably, u might need to resit many time.. is real hard. And u'll have problem in finding reading source since u dun go to sch and gv u a textbook.

Just done my 1st sem and 4 EASA module, real hard if u nvr study.. quite hard if u study hard tongue.gif

By the way, John.. i thougt u're doing msia airline TAME prog?

Category 'C' license for powerplant.
But for rotorcraft (helicopter) LAEs, they do not have that privilege, eventho they are 'A&C' license holder. Because starting an engine on a helicopter is considered a flying procedure and it falls within the pilot's jurisdiction (simply because the pilot has the license to fly). So helicopter LAEs needs the help of the pilot if they want to do an engine run.
