QUOTE(tanseehua @ Feb 3 2009, 04:12 AM) our TS like a bit LC type know a bit on GPS act like know a lot. dun make joke lah bro. Today i want to teach u our TS, no matter u use what kind of Gps apps, GMXT, UGLY NK MAPS, MAPKINK, PAPAGO,GOOGLE MAPS. The apps only take the gps data from ur tube build gps receiver only. To on and off AGPS is done trought ur phone setting. Be TS, be kind to forumer, dun laugh at newbie, tis is the attitude to have for TS. Forget to let u know im using GMXT since Dec 2007 with my n73+gps receiver. My shop also sell garmin gps product like Nuvi, corolado, oregen. Im sorry if i already offens u TS, but really 看不下去. Anyhow, turning off agps from the phone setting --> some packet data is STILL downloaded by GarXT (checking log)... Any cause to worry? Also, anybody find out how to cache GoogeMaps so that we DON'T have to download data every time we use it? *sigh* It's refreshing to just ask questions again without having to update stuff (with my unstable/unpredictable online times nowadays)... QUOTE(qwerty79 @ Feb 3 2009, 10:22 AM) I already ask this question in GPS section but no reply. May be not many ppl there. Ah... No wonder the little exchage up top... So, I post here, Anyone care to check? So, guess we're in the same boat... Lets wait for more sifu people to come with an answer... Turning OFF AGPS in the settings DOES REDUCE the packet data downloaded, that I could see (from around 50-100KB per connect --> 20-50KB per connect... Will have to check again to confirm)... It just DOESNT STOP it completely... This post has been edited by Eiraku: Feb 3 2009, 10:26 AM |

QUOTE(mugiwarabai @ Feb 3 2009, 01:33 PM) hey, im facing the same problem too. i dont have any idea how to make it work fast. No GPS coverage (is this EVEN possible?)?... I'm currently in Sungai Petani and it works fine sans AGPS (according to the settings) with 3-4 bars at least even in the fringes of the town, while being inside my 2 story rented house - no matter the weather (haven't been in a full blown thunderstorm yet lar)... so, i changed my method & tick the 'assisted gps'. it will be more faster. it wil be charged since its like using gprs to assist the gps. its ok for me since im not owez using gps (only when i lost Tall buildings tend to block GPS it seems, maybe that's the case? I get crap GPS reception in the middle of KL (around KLCC)... IMHO, AGPS only speeds up GPS lock, not improve the signal (although I'm not really sure, havta ask the GPS experts here)... QUOTE(mugiwarabai @ Feb 3 2009, 01:37 PM) actually its not that there's no GPS coverage. its just the phone hardly to be connected with the sattelite to receive signal. I estimate around 10kb-200kb per session, I've connected a couple of times myself (say, 5-15 times) and my packet data download rate is around 500kb, upload around 90KB (GPRS only as I've turned 3G off already)... Again, estimation as I'm no expert, and I might have done some other downloading through GPRS by accident... thats y enabling AGPS wil solve the problem. but it might be charged by network line we're using. i wonder how much it costs This post has been edited by Eiraku: Feb 3 2009, 01:45 PM |

QUOTE(Kopitard @ Feb 3 2009, 01:50 PM) Hmm why Nokia wants to use some "weird technique" on the tube to make the music volume loud?Something like put the phone on the table so the sound could reflect off the table IMHO, that's not 'weird technique', it's just smart design... People WILL put their phones on the table anyway, at one point or another... Why not take advantage of that? Louder sound minus the power consumption of physically louder speakers... One of the advantages of the SE W550i had vs the W810i is that the W550i was designed with this "table echo" in mind (not to mention it's external speakers were just darned loud to begin with)... And the fact that both speakers are on the right side - genius, if you take into account that you will be putting the 5800 on its side every time you watch movies, first really useful stereo speakers I've ever had on a handset... Great design touches BTW, if only they can improve a bit on the QC... This post has been edited by Eiraku: Feb 3 2009, 02:25 PM |

QUOTE(ridzyroo @ Feb 3 2009, 02:41 PM) I'm back...Sorry if I've offended anyone...I just thought the settings in the Positioning Methods was only for Nokia Maps not for Garmin...nvr used Garmin before for my Nokia...and anyway, if you don't want me to be TS next time round, just vote for some other bloke cause really, if u read the last few pages of V6, I was "forced" to be the V7 TS =) I'm sorry too if the "forced" part is due to me being EXTREMELY busy nowadays... BTW, you're doing a fine job, mate... |

QUOTE(AsuKi @ Feb 3 2009, 04:46 PM) hack 5800? depand what hack u want. Owh yes... Hacking... hack for install any apps without need to sign the file or hack firmware a.k.a custom the firmware to make ur phone more lighter than standard ( more ram, less crap apps ) First and foremost, killing of that USELESS search thingy in Standby... And killing off a whole lot of programs that I don't really use from the firmware... As for dictionaries, I'm using MSDict (Eng - Jap installed)... Works like a charm, except for the fact that I can't put any sort of Japanese characters into the dict at all... Maybe I could with SlovEd, no idea... There's a whole bunch of dicts available for MSDict (Collins Eng, Eng-Ger, Eng-It, Eng-whatever you choose lar), only problem would be input lar for the languages we do not have the IME for (Euro languages, Jap for instance)... Anybody here using Mobisure Plus+ insurance for any their mobiles? Or know anyone using it?
I've been asking around and it's quoted for around RM24.50 per month for our Tubies... Theft, damage full replacement + 60 day international coverage... That + GPS tracking... Great proctection, wouldn't you think? Although a bit overkill for anything less then a Touch HD / N97 / X1 class device, I really don't have the resources to get another Tubey even if it gets stolen... QUOTE(ksc_3688 @ Feb 3 2009, 06:38 PM) Check the attached PDF...
Mobisure_Flyer.pdf ( 340k )
Number of downloads: 54Anyhow, still bugging the person in charge for a copy of the Terms and Conditions for me to study first (aka. the infamous FINE PRINT), before I can even think of committing myself or pushing others to do the same... As for GPS tracking, thinking of buying, maybe even bulking and selling a certain S60 safety program... As even the Jackie Sparrows haven't cracked the latest version of it, and it works well enough to warrant a purchase! Although S60 veterans should be mighty familiar with it anyhow... Remember kids, Jack to try... if it's worth it, Pay to keep! Some of the devs really have a family to feed yo... EDIT: The guy at Tecprotec (the mobisure guys) just emailed back and said that the T&C will only be on the application form... Well, the Insurance companies havta keep their ricepot (jaga periuk nasi) somehow... Will update you guys more later... This post has been edited by Eiraku: Feb 3 2009, 07:10 PM |

QUOTE(ZeneticX @ Feb 3 2009, 07:45 PM) how is the sound quality from speakers and headset?im more to toward sq whn buying a phone,wn to choose between this and the w980 Isn't the W980i the flippy SE? Ur comparing apples to oranges here bro, smartphone vs stylephone... But i dare say sq from both are comparable, the 5800 wins speakerwise imho (it retains more detail), and in terms of inbox headphone sq, the hpm-77 that comes with th W980i wins easy... With better cans, the 5800 sounds a tad richer imho... And tcmean bro, thanks in advance for the scans...This post has been edited by Eiraku: Feb 3 2009, 08:03 PM |

Ayomaa, is this thread degrading into one of them flamin discussions? Adehai... Anyhow, anybody here bumped into a crystal case for our tubies? Been thinking of pairing it up with the mirror protector...Have more confidence in them cheap crystal casings - from experiance i found them to be extremely effective in negating drop damage...
