hmmm PS3 running where got cool...

will get warm... when i attach the fan... and when you put ur hands on the air out take it feels really warm..

funny tho... i setup my PS3 in its vertical fashion.. the back of the PS3 with all the other ports HDMI, Power port area feel warm.. (tats where i attact the fan) but at the top of the PS3 feels cool..
*
The PS3's top vents(at a verticl position) and the vents above the USB ports acts as vent-intakes for the PS3, not as a vent for air-dissipation.
Also, the PS3's fan design is not the same as the 7/9-bladed arc fans you see commonly on PCs.

The fan blades aren't curved, but instead they are made absolutely in a vertical form.

Here is how it looks like:
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

The fan draws in air from the top vents and bottom vents and then exchaust it out through the back. A much better design than the 360, which only places 2 fans at the back and exhausting hot air.

An extra fan at the back isn't needed at all, and infact can actually disrupt the optimum airflow of the PS3.

Vertical for me, because my TV rack seem to have no extra place for me to make it horizontally.
Besides, I would like to ask all the ps3 owner here, sometime, when I hold the PS button and press quit game, my ps3 perform abnormally which gives me 3 beeps and 'RESTART' the game. Curious enough to ask is it any one here encounter the same problem? What is going on actually?
*
Theres data still being done on the PS3 when you are quitting the game.

Mostly, when you are quitting during a Loading screen, directly after or before a loading screen, after saving a game and so on. 3 beeps like that means that the PS3 is still working on something, and automatically stops and restarts because you "requested" it to do so.

Will not harm your PS3 at all. Don't worry.

As I've said... the top vents acts as vent-intakes rather than exhaust.

Which is why in thermo-tests, horizontal position keeps the PS3 at a lower temperature. Its not a significant difference really, so in the end just put your PS3 horizontal or vertical as you see fit.

Japan has their own Home server.

Malaysia has none and will never have one.

HK and SG shares the same Home server the last time I was in closed beta. I don't know about now.

DVI is technically HDMI without sound.

So of course obviously, HDMI-DVI is the same quality as a normal HDMI.

Thats right.

Unless the monitor has speakers itself, and has a HDMI input of course.

Then set it till you feel that the colors become more vibrant.

Theres only so much you can do on a TN film panel LCD. Don't expect S-PVA or S-IPS color depths.

Exactly what "videos" are you refering to?

QUOTE(rhys86 @ Feb 10 2009, 09:12 PM)
well for most 22 inch LCD i think shud set to 720p setting...
unless the 22inch LCD is 1080p HDMI supported..

if with juz HDCP best is juz set to 720p.. if put 1080p as display the image looks pixelated and a bit weird...

benssj.. i edy set up my PS3 properly thanks to ur advice =)
*
HDCP is an image constraint token security measure, nothing to do with image quality.

Many 22" LCD monitors are on 1680x1050 res, any majority of them can downscale 1080p sources to their res. The reason why you are seeing the image on screen being pixelated when set to 1080p is because the game is locked in 720p res only(there are many PS3 games locked at 720p). So when you force the game into 1080p, it automatically scales down to 480i/576i, which looks like utter crap when it is then upscaled onto a 16x10 res monitor.

No problem, you need any help just holla me on MSN.

Today when i wan play my ps3, so i on the the ps3's power, when i press the power button, it turn green, and turn red immediately.
Why like this? But after i try few times until I unplug it out and plug in again, it only work as normally.
Is this a serious problem? Should i warranty it?
Thanks for help.....^^

There are a few reasons:

- The power to your PS3(from your wall socket/plug point) may not be "clean", causing interference with the PSU. Don't forget, the PS3 uses a universal PSU.
- May be a wrong setting somewhere in your PS3 system settings.
- Wrong display mode.

See if the problem is still there or not after this.

QUOTE(ronramka @ Feb 10 2009, 11:44 PM)
is there any diff between upnp enable n disable?
*
UPnP(universal plug and play) allows your PS3 and your router to automatically set a port for each other, so you don't have to manually port forward on your PS3 and router. Saves alot of trouble IMO if your router supports UPnP.

Thanks for help.....

Do you always have to unlplug and plug the power cord back in everytime then for it to work properly?

is a bluetooh head set recomended for enhance playing experince (conversation in game and all)? if so can i get any reference which model/brand is good? tahnks ^^

The best BT headset I've come acrossed is the recently released PS3 Official BT headset. Extremely high quality during coversations, and I love how you can dock it and use it as a microphone as well! Very comfortable too.

It depends if you want to play with voice or not, sometimes it does add experience to a game. Especially if you play in a team. RE5 has Co-Op mode, and I think it isn't much fun playing online with silence.

Actually, pretty much majority of the PS3 games aren't even running at native 1280x720 resolution. Many of them are upscaled 720p.

I don't think it is.

I once had that problem when I plugged in one of my former customer's PS3 into an unfiltered power-socket(the power socket is connected to a TV, 360, PC, Wii, battery chargers and so on). The PS3 didn't boot up correctly.

Hard reset your controller and see if it cures the problem.

Theres a button at the back of the controller right next to the top middle screw. You need a safety-pin to press it.

crap i juz relized that PS3 is DVD region coded too... cant play R1...

my 5 yr old crappy dvd player plays all Region DVDs.. wonder why PS3 like that????
*
And I assume your 5 year old crappy DVD player is some local-no-name DVD player. Of course it plays all DVDs then, hell you throw in a DVD-RW and it'll even play.

"premium" branded DVD players(in this its the PS3 we are talking about here) are always region locked. Thats just how the policy is.

Q: would there be a problem if i left my BD inside my PS3 overnight?

for example i am playing a game, later on got myself tired and sleepy.
turn off for mr.PS3 and to bed i go without taking out the BD game inside my mr.PS3.
it is ok?

Not really suggested.

As soon as your PS3 turns on, the Blu-Ray lens will start to emit its laser to read if anything is in the drive. If theres a disc, it'll read it and start the game if you have the auto-start game feature enabled. Even if you have it disabled, it'll still continue reading the disc for data to be displayed on the XMB.

In the long run, it wears the lens out faster. Its not significant, but just go figure everytime you turn on your PS3 you have your lens read something. It'll hurt.

How long have you been doing this practice?? any issues so far??

HHmm... I hate to say this, but being PS3 and all.. theres so many issues and sensitivity practice with the PS3. Are we being all that 'too careful / kiasu' practice??  sweat.gif

Coz I have an old 4yrs old Asus laptop.. nothing to be proud of.. left it on over night for at most a week, dvd inside or watever is inside, it drop a couple of times.. etc.. and till today works juz fine...  notworthy.gif

juz my 2cents.. what do u guys think?  hmm.gif

I'm explaining it theoritically, so.... its all base on theory.

How a PS3 blu-ray's lens die can be many reasons, infact you'd never know why it even dies today when it worked perfectly yesterday. Its electronics, it comes and goes.
