Just had a long discussion with the tech support from sony.
Those guys are amazing, very precise and knowledgable compare to some tech supports I've been through.

I suggest if you guys have a problem you can call them directly.

My issue was having some problem with bd games; intermitten crash during loading.

thats why sony japan are not firing them.

well if you remember to take it out then you might as well take it out. hahhahaha. i take it out normally because i got a lot of psn games. so sometimes just switch the ps3 on just to troll around the xmb watch anime. stuff like that so i dun want the disc to run every time i scroll over the game menu.

so far my experience is with 1mbps line and 4mbps line....both i sense no difference. doh.gif waste my money only. but in regards to psn. your lag will depend on whoever is connected to you. and their location. thats why everyone tries to play amongst malaysians for most games.

you take streamyx speed that they promise. divide it by 5. and that will be the speed you will get in a realistic senario.

QUOTE(primuslim @ Mar 4 2009, 07:46 PM)
Hi guys,

just want to ask some opinions here,

this weird strong lightning hit my house yesterday and pretty much fried my router, modem while i was at work. This was one of those few days i was rushing and didn't unplug my whole unit! and the next room of my router and modem consisted of my Sony surround sound system, Wii, Xbox360, PS3 and LCD T.V all connected together as well. As you can imagine my trip home was an anxious one.

Out of all those devices only my PS3 konked out! (xbox 360 survived! wth? and for 2 years already too!). When i on my ps3 sometimes it doesn't have any display.... when i soft restart it (hold power button) after a while the display will start working. But a even bigger problem is that it now won't recognise any of my controllers... even if i plug in the USB cables. When i start the PS3 it straight away says "Connection Error".

but the weird thing is when i press the PS button on the controller (unplugged just wireless), the PS3 will start up, just that it doesn't recognise it later. But if i keep trying (i.e. 20 mins of pressing the button) it will work. And when it work the PS3 runs fine. Even my rock band set or my street figher 4 fighting stick plugged in the USB port can't be recognised. The wireless Sixaxis controllers can't be recognised also.

I bought my pS3 when MGS4 came out (so less than 1 year) unfortunately for me, it was the Singapore unit. I'm just curious, does the warranty (if i go singapore) cover lightning strikes? i'm kinda guessing no... but who knows...

And if i want to repair my SG unit in a Malaysian sony center, telling them i will pay, will they do it?

Sigh my heart is broken.. especially two days after i've bought killzone 2. Anyway if anyone experience this before let me know maybe how mnuch u think it would cost me and if they actuall got it repaired in Malaysia.

Thanks for your help in advance guys.

since i'm here i my as well share my experience. I used to use the 512kbs and i had no problems there. Playing my xbox 360 (didn't have ps3 then) the only lag i encounter was due to playing with european or US players. This i think is pretty much unavoidable.

however my brother started playing world of warcraft at home, so we decided to upgrade to the 1MB Screamyx package.

With my brother playing world of warcraft and me playing online matches on my PS3, on games with local or ppl in the far east asia region, i have encounterd very minimal lag. The only time i encountered lag was becuz some shark or tortoise is sittign on the submarine line or some weird reason, therefore affecting everything i do like streaming videos. But strangely enough surfing was still fast.

So to answer your question without going into technical details, the streamyx package 1mb is pretty good for online gaming. you're bound to lag when playing with US or European fellas, but its not unplayable. So far for me playign with Far east asia people and Australia people has been fine. minimal lag. however when screamyx deciddes to play up (like last month 5 days unbearable low speed even watching prawn online was difficult) then you may get a little bit frustrated. But i guess its all part and parcel of living in malaysia.  So go ahead and sign up for one and enjoy ur online game time!

Just as a disclaimer... screamyx speeds also differs in different areas where you live. So if your area is really bad i hope you wn't blame me but all the school kids downloading the latest naruto episodes on bittorrent in your neighbourhood.

well the electricity will be distributed unevenly across your houses electrical lines and even the extension cable thing.
did you have a surge protector? i mean like a good one.

i suggest getting a high end one. some surge protectors even have their own warranty to replace your goods if they get fried. i use the belkin ones you can find at most IT stores. because they got really high voltage/watt whatever you call it protection.

it can on and you can play though? just cant shut down properly?

tripped over power cord? how ah.... last time that happened to me i was playing FF VII fighting sephiroth in his final form. my friend walked by the ps. touched the wire, stupid ol two pin plug came out. to this day im still traumatised. all wire must hide.

i think what you should do is probably do a soft reset of the system. not sure how to do it. something to do with holding the on button down for certain amount of time. it might be on the front page. but all your game data habis lah. everything gone. choose wisely.

Hi guys, can I use a save file from Region 1 with my Region 3 game? Will it corrupt the files?

Also, can i use DLC from Region 1 with my Region 3 games? Eg: LBP, Fallout 3, Folklore or similiar games that have DLC.
*
im not sure about the save file issue.

but in the case for DLC. in most cases if not all. the DLC will be region locked. so you cannot use R1 DLC with an R3 game.

guys if I purchase a used PS3 game, is there any effect of the Region code of the game to PSN? My PS3 is R3. I saw some PS3 games which is on R1 and etc... my concern is that the game will determine which region my PSN should be connected to?
*

But i think my HT don't have the composite in as well.. i checked thru the spec.. there is no input for component/optical or composite....sad.gif it only have component, composite and HDMI out only...do i really need to get a AVR for that?? sad.gif
*
QUOTE(msn83235502 @ Mar 12 2009, 03:41 PM)
wtf?? home theater dont have any input? waste of money. hahahaha...
if it doesnt, just connect directly to ur TV lah.. tv sure got.

i assume u are using the HT that comes with dvd player and speaker rite? the speaker connect directly to the dvd player rite? hahaha..
buy a new amplifier lah dude.. what to do.. that kind of HT is just have built in dts decoder inside the dvd player...it's not meant to handle inputs from multiple sources.
*
yeah i think he has one of those DVD/AMP combo HT. i never used one of those before. but i always thought it would have at least one input. what about on the front dude? impossible that there is no input. rclxub.gif you can get amps for quite cheap now if you got extra money. since you got the speakers already. i dun buy the combo sets because if the dvd spoil the whole HT cannot use.

Once again, does anyone know any way to record gameplay videos off a PS3 that can be done with stuff available locally?

video camera.... heheh. try get a good video editing software and hook the ps3 up to your pc, via whatever means. and there should be a way to record it. i never done it. but this seems like the most plausible way.
