Hi guys,
just want to ask some opinions here,
this weird strong lightning hit my house yesterday and pretty much fried my router, modem while i was at work. This was one of those few days i was rushing and didn't unplug my whole unit! and the next room of my router and modem consisted of my Sony surround sound system, Wii, Xbox360, PS3 and LCD T.V all connected together as well. As you can imagine my trip home was an anxious one.
Out of all those devices only my PS3 konked out! (xbox 360 survived! wth? and for 2 years already too!). When i on my ps3 sometimes it doesn't have any display.... when i soft restart it (hold power button) after a while the display will start working. But a even bigger problem is that it now won't recognise any of my controllers... even if i plug in the USB cables. When i start the PS3 it straight away says "Connection Error".
but the weird thing is when i press the PS button on the controller (unplugged just wireless), the PS3 will start up, just that it doesn't recognise it later. But if i keep trying (i.e. 20 mins of pressing the button) it will work. And when it work the PS3 runs fine. Even my rock band set or my street figher 4 fighting stick plugged in the USB port can't be recognised. The wireless Sixaxis controllers can't be recognised also.
I bought my pS3 when MGS4 came out (so less than 1 year) unfortunately for me, it was the Singapore unit. I'm just curious, does the warranty (if i go singapore) cover lightning strikes? i'm kinda guessing no... but who knows...
And if i want to repair my SG unit in a Malaysian sony center, telling them i will pay, will they do it?
Sigh my heart is broken.. especially two days after i've bought killzone 2. Anyway if anyone experience this before let me know maybe how mnuch u think it would cost me and if they actuall got it repaired in Malaysia.
Thanks for your help in advance guys.
Added on March 4, 2009, 7:54 pmsince i'm here i my as well share my experience. I used to use the 512kbs and i had no problems there. Playing my xbox 360 (didn't have ps3 then) the only lag i encounter was due to playing with european or US players. This i think is pretty much unavoidable.
however my brother started playing world of warcraft at home, so we decided to upgrade to the 1MB Screamyx package.
With my brother playing world of warcraft and me playing online matches on my PS3, on games with local or ppl in the far east asia region, i have encounterd very minimal lag. The only time i encountered lag was becuz some shark or tortoise is sittign on the submarine line or some weird reason, therefore affecting everything i do like streaming videos. But strangely enough surfing was still fast.
So to answer your question without going into technical details, the streamyx package 1mb is pretty good for online gaming. you're bound to lag when playing with US or European fellas, but its not unplayable. So far for me playign with Far east asia people and Australia people has been fine. minimal lag. however when screamyx deciddes to play up (like last month 5 days unbearable low speed even watching prawn online was difficult) then you may get a little bit frustrated. But i guess its all part and parcel of living in malaysia. So go ahead and sign up for one and enjoy ur online game time!
Just as a disclaimer... screamyx speeds also differs in different areas where you live. So if your area is really bad i hope you wn't blame me but all the school kids downloading the latest naruto episodes on bittorrent in your neighbourhood.
well the electricity will be distributed unevenly across your houses electrical lines and even the extension cable thing.
did you have a surge protector? i mean like a good one.
