Hello all. Im a new ps3 user here. Just wna ask something to clear my doubts.

1. Does a ps3 heat up easily? I played mine for 1 hour and it is hot already.

2. Does ps3 graphics lag slightly? Or is it depending on game? My re5 does not lag but my assassin creed lags slightly.

Any pro here can help clarify ? thank you.

psn cards should be availabe and applicable to all, like xbox live one... this dlc trend is getting ridiculous , after 1 month released, new contents r published, like it has been planned. sorry for my rambling xD

1. The console is still fine.. heat is normal for current generation console.... unless ur ps3 generate excessive heat like oven...

3. Gfx lag slightly depending on the game... ask assassin creed developer y ps3 version lag slightly... other than that some games have mind-blowing jaw-dropping gfx..

I'm 99% sure your PS3 won't get affected. Two reasons being:

1. The OS. At the moment, there are no open APIs for any casual programmers to write a nasty program to infect your PS3. Those APIs are only available to game developers at a price. Who would pay such a large amount of money to obtain the API just to write a virus to infect a PS3?

Another thing is the PS3 OS runs on a hypervisor mode. So, even if you could run Linux on a PS3, the game OS itself is actually seperated from other OS that is running, so this creates sort of like a sandbox environment which adds to the security layer of the PS3 system itself.

2. The CPU. The PS3 CPU is not the same as your household Intel-based or AMD-based CPU. It runs on the IBM's Cell Broadband Processor and it is not a tame beast to handle. Even if you got a Windows or Linux or Mac-based virus, it wouldn't be able to execute on a PS3 environment easily.

Hi there,

I intend to buy a PS3 but I have doubts about my monitor compatibility with PS3:

My monitor model is 17 inch Samsung Sync Master 732N plus. Its input is VGA but support DVI output with a simple adapter. Do I really need a VGA box for it to be connected with PS3? Or I just need to buy a DVI-HDMI cable only?
