The Bulgarian scored his 12th goal of the season in Wednesday's 3-0 victory over Fulham, which took the Reds five points clear of second-placed Liverpool.
Berbatov told MUTV: "This win was very important to us, that’s what the boss told us before the game. We maybe should have scored two or three more but in the end everybody was happy.
"We are pleased that we won and are now five points clear, but we have many games to play and it’s not the end of the title race."
Paul Scholes opened the scoring against the Cottagers with a sweetly-struck volley from the edge of the box, a strike which Berbatov could only admire.
"I don’t think there is anybody else in the world like Paul Scholes," the striker added. "He is the only person who can shoot with that accuracy.
"His passing and the way he changes games is brilliant. Every manager would be happy to have him but it’s our luck that he plays for us."
