We don't have that much defenders at that level. Even more so now a lot of them are out on loan. Was shaky first few games, but in the last game, look pretty good.

As long as we can maintain/pick up our form, I'm not too worried, not yet anyway. Right now we're grinding out results. But we can play far better than what we've shown so far, definitely. We're playing in 3rd gear.
Liverpool, could trouble us a bit if they hang on till the final month. If they can keep their main players fit throughout and in form, they would definitely be there. If they get a really good winger or two, then they will consistently challenge for the title. |

6 months, if players didn't fit in, the managers better sold them fast if not the player's value will drop like flies. Just imagine them having Vida and Evra, or Henry.. after 6 months, all sold off.
Added on February 3, 2009, 11:36 pm QUOTE(kobe8byrant @ Feb 3 2009, 08:07 PM) 1) Being serious and not knocking Liverpool just for the sake of it. Sure they have quality players, but they just don't seem to work ATM(Chelsea). Not sure Scolari is right for this league.. but he's still new and haven't had the chance to mold his own team. Liverpool are more settled and have a solid 1st 11(except the wingers) right now. But like you said, a few injuries, and they won't look so good.2) Post starts here: To be fair, as I've mentioned in previous posts, I still look at Chelsea as our main contenders. I have always believed that Scolari would have played a better brand of football if he had Robinho and Joe Cole on the flanks but given that one of them is injured fro the season and the other, isn't here, it's still rather quite impressive to see such a WEAK Chelsea (- Essien, Carvalho, Cole) team have always come back after being defeated by big teams (drawn 1 lost 5 against Big 4 teams)! Liverpool on the other hand, with Torres (I can't remember any major injuries or omissions) are playing shite and have had trouble grinding out results and when they do get a big one, they rest on their laurels rather than go on ruthless title-winning runs. And in an event where Torres gets fatigued or Torres doesn't work in a game, whom do you bring on? My point exactly...... We just need to maintain(improve, we can play far better regularly) our own form. If we do that we should be OK. Our squad seem to cope fine so far with injuries all happening at the same time. Now with almost all of them back, I'm hoping we would perform far better. Expecting a lot from Rooney, especially in the scoring department. Hoping he would get that scoring touch back, which seems to only happen for 1 month and a half for him every season. This post has been edited by Wan: Feb 3 2009, 11:36 PM |

Talking about West Ham, I don't like playing them. They always seem to take something from us.

True. But it's still fun to watch them lose. They have provided us really good entertainment in the last month or so. Starting with that rant, the draws, the Keane stuff(pity him, going from one circus to another), and now out of the FA Cup.
But they're a threat in the league still. And now with one cup less to concentrate on, you can bet they'll be concentrating really hard on reaching their 19, and stopping our 18 in the process. You really have to salute Rafa for the work he has done, with all the players he don't want at the club, since he has no control over their transfer dealings. |

Between Ronaldo and Beckham. Beckham was great for us, and a superstar outside of the pitch. But Ronaldo is our first player to be crown as the best player in the world. So it'll be Ronaldo.

Keeps Benitez in the job. Ain't that bad overall.
As for West Ham, twice they denied us winning the league before right? I don't like playing against them. They up their performance for some reason against us. Rooney on the bench hopefully. |

Anderson will score when Tosic fires in a really good and hard freekick in front of the GK, and Vida head it, but the ball bounce off the post and hit O'Shea's on the back of the knee and the ball roll on in front of the goal and the defender would try to clear the ball away, but hit Ronaldo's bum, and then hits Anderson on the back of his head and the ball bounce into the goal.

QUOTE(netcrawler @ Feb 8 2009, 11:39 PM) What makes you say that? Sure he doesn't impress much so far this season, but last season he was great, and this season most of the attacking players are still sleeping apart from a few! That's a cheap bench I have to say. |

Can't say he didn't see it coming. Should be doing far better, even though he's still new. Grant followed us all the way last season. With a bit of luck, it was them that won the double and not us. Wonder who they would be looking at. Rijkaard?

QUOTE(Hevrn @ Feb 10 2009, 01:04 AM) Kinell, this is surprising news indeed. Saw it coming, but not this soon. More evidence of an impatient board who're not hesitant in sacking their coaches after a short span of time. WHo's gonna step up to replace him then? Are they gonna beg Grant to take over again? Shouldn't have sack Mourinho in the first place. RA wanted them to play more exciting football, and then bought Sheva.. then he hired Grant as director of football. He tried to poke in, and now they're in this mess. Grant, a nobody who we all mocked, did great last season considering they went till the final day, on all fronts, and we just pip them. Seeing that, Scolari should be doing better than he has. But maybe on 2nd thoughts, he should maybe give till at least the end of the season, or maybe even another season to see his impact on the team. |
