sorry for resurrecting this thread, but i have a similar question regarding anti-ghosting. i'm not sure i completely understand the necessity of an anti-ghosting keyboard, as most ps/2 keyboards don't have this issue (at least all the samsung's i've used so far), and my chapalang rm10 usb keyboard which i bought for my laptop also has a max limit of 6keys (not due to the keyboard matrix, but due to windows' HID drivers), so it served me well for all my games except o2jam tongue.gif

i've looked at the SS7G and while the construction is completely sound and awesome (those switches are supposed to last like forever, and note that its a ps/2 keyboard), the whole anti-ghosting thing seems to be a gimmick and propaganda. any thoughts? i'd really like to learn more before i invest in a more expensive keyboard as i've used 2 samsung keyboards so far and they're still alive and well, and work just fine, the only problem being that if you go to a tourney at blitzone, you can't hook up your ps/2 devices since they've locked the boxes.

Tarantula ain't PS/2, but can press 10 keys at the same time, so play O2Jam no problem. Just that it has 2 USB ports, so be prepared xD

Not really gimmick if you ask me, just I really think 7G is way tooooo overpriced.

yeah, most of the newer "anti-ghosting" keyboards allow for more key rollover (this is the term for simultaneous key presses), like the tarantula which you mentioned has 10, and the 7G which claims that every key can be pressed at the same time. but what i'd like to know is is there any situation where you need to press more than 6 keys?

although, apparently you dont need to plug in both usb connectors for the tarantula, one is for the keyboard and one is for the inbuilt usb hub.

can you tell me why though? what makes you say that, other than personal preference perhaps?

case in point would be the razer arctosa's at blitzone. we were there for a tf2 tourney, and i have to say i do indeed prefer my rm20 anyzen samsung to the ones they had there, which i had no choice but to use.

If you say like that, means RM20 chapalang keyboard enough for you lor. If me lar, it's personal preference, can see bling bling stuff in front of my computer, good companion for my DeathAdder, and the most important when I play CoD4, I need press more like 5 keys or 6.

Because normal cap ayam USB keyboard only can press 3, and I don't like to use PS/2 because need to reset the goddamn computer after plugged in when go to LAN party or just go to LAN and that for me quite troublesome >.<.

So that's why I bought the tarantula. If you only play TF2, I don't think you need to press a lot of keys at the same time... And it's up to you.

haha, aight. i think i've got a much clearer picture now. "stick with what you know and like" is the phrase of the day wink.gif

although, i'm not sure about what keyboards you've tested, and i certainly havent tested that many myself, but my rm10 chapalang cap ayam usb keyboard is right on the limit of HID devices, which is a nice 6 keys. i'm just trying to verify the myth of the "3 key rollover" keyboard =x

okay, now THIS might be something worth looking into.

one last thing i'm a bit curious about. what 5 keys are the ones that you tend to press at the same time syNc?

I don't really think it's about how many keys you can press simultaneously. Like I've seen my friend play stepmania on a RM20 prolink keyboard, pressing all 6 keys at once. However, I think these expensive keyboards have something to do with the response time at which different keys are pressed one after the other. I could be wrong as games like stepmania also require it. So... =/

YOU WRONG. You pay for material, not for ghosting/imba hacks. Chaplang keyboards internals and expensive keyboards are basically different in the sense of the quality of materials they use. All razer products have gold plated usb connectors. RM 100 there... As for response time, so long as they are both USB, response time is pretty much the same. They only vary if :

i) your keyboard has usb ports, each port consumes power when used. Since a computer's usb port output is limited to 150 - 200 (not sure which measurement, but those are the values), each device connect to your keyboard, drains power from it. Although tentatively, your computer cuts supply off to additional devices first, depending on the device attached, the power supplied to it may fluctuate, causing response delays back and forth.

ii)you go through a USB 1.1 or USB 1.0 hub or a PS/2 connector.

iii) Your keyboard has backlights.. which are utterly useless in my opinion. These make your keyboard cost more, not more than that smile.gif

iv) consumes more power than it should or the CPU lacks the power to supply the keyboard.. which, in most cases render your keyboard unusable anyway (undetectable)

My keys from the Tarantula is fading. Not very durable if you ask me. Very soon I'll be typing from a blank keyboard <3.
