Try to fill the frame with the subject.
Here, I would have gone closer to the building and tried shooting it from a lower angle.

This one lacks punch in the colors.
Try vibrant film mode.
And again, going nearer and removing some not-so-important stuff from the shot (left hand side) would've made the photo look better.

i'm an olympus e-500 user...i was thinking of getting the new 9-18 ultra wide lens but then i heard about this camera...from the reviews i personally think this is an awesome camera...24mm f2.0 MegaOIS...video recording...

i wanted to get it but i have one question...how fast is the autofocusing? and how does the manual focusing work?

I think that 1st shot is ok.
Problem is it is"back lighting".
I m guessing "vibrant" or "dynamic" film modes would yield bluer skies and give the shot more punch.
Just my opinion only tongue.gif

europology and PCHo, yea I agree its a little underexposed. using a slower shutter speed might have helped. Havent had time to edit either, i think a little work in SilkyPix might improve it abit. I actually have a similar, brighter pic, lemme find it.

Took a similar shot of the KLCC, but it turned out grossly underexposed too. Not easy to take building shots with the sun in the background, it always turned out either over or underexposed.

thanks Sebastian, natural light shots are interesting, esp in the morning in a room with curtains laugh.gif

EDIT:

here's another shot of the church tower, using a wider aperture and slower shutter speed. The cloud formation arent as nice though and the sky arent as blue now. also, had included the tree and street lamp when I think it would've been better without. Ah well, still a looong way from the "perfect" shot!

and here's another pic i took from the opposite angle, with the sun to my back. The tower now gives out more detail due to the sunlight bouncing off it. It was taken barely 2 minutes later and you'll notice there's now dark clouds gathering from the other end. It started raining 15 minutes later, but hey this is Malaysia tongue.gif

Personally, I think it is quite obvious the 1st shot looks brighter n has more color than the previous one.
I would say the exposure is more precise.
Probably just +1/3 stop more than the previous one.

Please post ur EXIF data, this would help us analyze your photos better icon_rolleyes.gif
