what does proximity sensor do? i don't understand how it works.
need to learn something here...

maybe it would affect,just revive my 1 hour use only bought SP with Sellotape method..  originally full of fingerprint and dust but now clean like new  apply it on my screen but i notice touch screen sensitivity is slightly reduce compare to original zebra SP or it maybe just me 
btw just finish modifying my zebra SP,no more stripe now  but got some scratch..
i use my "carb and injection cleaner",alcohol or petrol can be use also i think. get a tissue or cloth then spray the SP with the solution (not the part that have adhesive) and wipe the zebra stripe away. let the unwanted solution dry then cut some Sellotape and stick your SP part that have adhesive on it with the sellotape this would remove the dust and restore some of the stickiness of your SP.
congratulation you now have a "new" SP 
for you guys that cant find proper SP yet or need a temporary one and find the zebra line + white thingy thing annoying u guys may want to try this.
*Edit: before spraying or applying the solution to the SP make sure you stick the SP 1st be it on plastic,mirror or anywhere that have smooth surface.

For those who had applied screen protector to the screen, would it affect the touch screen sensitivity? Any side effect?

lolwut moments i encountered.

music player + incoming call + sudden tilt = epic fail situation. The phone takes some time to sort itself out, especially with the accelerometer kacau-ing. Practically cannot accept call for like 5-10 secs.

earpiece problem. talking with loudspeaker set to lowest volume is abit funny, dont you think? i'll get it fixed at some ncc today.

depend on how much solution you use but the solution dry quite fast  ,if u press hard while wiping it off dont think it will scratch the SP but to be safe use lots of solution since it make it easier to wipe the stripe away with less pressure been use. mine already have scratch coz have been use for more than 2 weeks,btw use tissue or cloth that wont dmg your SP.

Actually it works by sending infrared signals. At least that's how most proximity sensors work, and it's compact, perfect for a mobile phone. It sends out low powered infrared signals and calculates the distance of anything that bounces the signals back.

Actually there are other proximity sensing technology but I think the phone uses this. It is the only explanation I can think of considering it's problems in bright light and screen protector covering it.

There was some truth in the light sensing thing but then I thought about what if the phone was in the dark and came up with that infrared thing.

Will it be possible using nokia map to connect to gps and calculating the route? I mean i dun need the voice navigation. But then will i still be able to let the gps calculate the route to reach my destination ?

while we r waiting for the proper touch version, just install the normal version and key mapping to use..............is okay...................
any question how to use the GMXT software can ask me, i use GMXT since Dec 2007 on my N73 till now, im decided to jump on Tube band wagon also becoz 5800 can use GMXT with key mapping, if no im still use my N95 now

I think those 2 sw are the ones I would put at the top of my list too. I'm very curious about all the hype over Myphone....the 5800 is a different beast altogether but here we are trying to emulate the iPhone...It's like having a Perodua MyVi and then changing the badge and looks to make it look like the Toyota equivalent. Want an iPhone, get the iPhone, that's my opinion anyway.

Instead we should be rooting for S60v5 to garner enough interest worldwide so that we get better software for our 5800.
