My car ETA is about mid june.

My company is in KL but now i am based in Kuantan for 2 years. I can come down to KL just to get the number, but can i do it? I heard only runners (with lisen) can buy the number? Im hoping for WTV2301. Can i ask friends to get it for me? Coz my friend told me the owner must be present to get the number.

@ the SA, if he failes to deliver the promise of getting my car in mid June, i am going to cancel the order in front of him and remake the order with another rep. If he thinks i cant cancel order due to booking fees think again. There's lots of ways to make things difficult for him - I am going to file 3 thick layers of complaints with all people i can find in Honda branch and HQ manager list, make a scene and put him on the stage. Try me.
*
If June, can tender first if you really want a specific number, but 2301 should be easy to get via open numbers also provided you go early. I think you can only tender for WTW now since it must be before those specific letters are opened. This means tender for WTV 2301 is not possible, but I don't think it's available anyway. The current number is already WTV 8356 today. So 2301 sudah lepas and is likely taken. Try WTW lah, quite nice also.

As for doing it yourself, not so sure, but I do think you need to. Otherwise, the runners would go out of business.

WTW 2301 - Sounds nice also. 2301 is a "lucky" number for me. But with my current SA i dont think he is capable of doing anything. Can anyone buy this no for me in KL? Im willing to give commission for helping!  icon_question.gif
Mr Choong is located in KL? Seems reputable. Maybe can do together and get better rates XD Do you guys have Mr Choong contact no and workshop address?  blush.gif

Dunno any runners lah, will see if my SA got anyone.

How is it compared to Shine N Shield?
*
I think Sierraglow beats ShineNShield hands down when it comes to cost. Sierra is 650 one time with no follow up required and guaranteed for 5 years. ShineNShield is 780 one time with follow up of 120 every 6-9 months also guaranteed for 5 years. So, some simple math and the cost of ShineNShield stacks up over time.

In terms of "glowness" and "wet look", I think both are about the same. ShineNShield seems smoother than Sierra due to Sierra having a sort of gum-like texture after application. I don't know how to describe it, but it feels almost "sticky" even though it's not (feels sort of like someone applied paste). This is not necessarily a bad thing as I think it will harden more and the Sierraglow layer feels thicker than ShineNShield. Difficult to describe lah, best if you pay both places a visit to see with your own eyes.

The only unknown factor for me is durability or how it performs over time. Since I saw only new cars at both locations, a bit difficult to decide lah. I suspect ShineNShield may have a slight edge in this area simply because of the requirement of follow up treatments, but this is of course a bad thing from cost perspective. ShineNShield also seems to have more comprehensive services as they also have interior treatment and some "premium" car wash.

Currently, I'm slightly partial towards ShineNShield, but the long term cost over time is a bit off putting considering if you do the 120 wash every 6 months over 5 years plus the initial 780, the total TCO is close to 2K ald!

If can afford... Ultra Glass Coating Neo still works best
*
Do you know where can this be done? Preferably around Seri Kembangan, Subang, USJ, Puchong or Sunway areas.

I heard it's quite good (I think even scratch resistant), but does it have the wet look, water beading and smoothness as the other PPSes? Is it really worth the money?

Accordingly, Civic 9th Gen will be launched in Tokyo auto saloon show in Q4 2011, the 9th Gen model may landed in Taiwan in 1st or 2nd Q of 2012.
Then Thailand, we are after. So the 9th Gen may landed here in Q4 2012 but most likely will be Q1 in 2013 as common new year period.

Sounds about right I think. Some info recently on Paul Tan ->

I heard that Autofoam is good since it's not just dampening but also increase chassis stability and car handling. One down side is that it will spread the impact differently if accident, possibly causing higher repair damage.

Another "removable" option is using those padding like Dynamat, Sikadamp or Soundblok. They reduce sound and heat, but usually don't offer any changes to chasis reinforcement or better handling. Good thing is that they are removable and has less chance of affecting wires, mechanical parts etc. So, depends on what is the purpose.

Anyone done any of these things? Please share experience, prices and contacts.

Been following this and I think my 2.0 also got some sound. Difficult to describe but like metal (kinda like a small bell tinkering except that it's only 2-3 times and then silent). It happens only during pressing the accelerator pedal (not hard, just normal press only) but not always can reproduce it. Sometimes only it happens which is why I am curious also how to show to the service centre. Don't tell me can't fix cos although it doesn't happen often, it annoys me very much when it does.

yes, that's the sound. i checked another forum and apparently it's cause by a metal plate that's located too near to the drive shaft. solution - sc move the metal plate slightly away from the drive shaft and it's solved. I'll post the link when am back to office on thursday.

you might want to send it to sc and ask them to check whether yours is the same prob. hb will be sending next mon and do the servicing together...

Ok, thanks, very helpful. Please do post link if you can. Coincidentally, my service is due on Thu. Hopefully they can do something about it. Kinda disappointing to know that the QC is done so badly until so many cars affected.

Terima kasih banyak banyak. After doing some of my own observation, I think mine a bit different from this one cos I'm pretty sure now it comes from behind and not front. So I think it's another common issue with Civic which is some gasket or rubber or something (yeah, I don't know cars that well) that is loose at the exhaust system. Annoying me that 130K car got this kind of sound, but I suppose I should be glad there's nothing else. Will see later as I drive if anything else crops up. The engine is excellent as expected. Drives like a dream and even when going at highway at 150 kph, it hardly breaks a sweat.

Actually, you don't have to lose the deposit la. Just talk to SA or Sales Manager or even the owner of the showroom to get back. Should be no prob one. Civic is a hot model, so doesn't affect them so much. Always they can find a next buyer who will be very thankful to receive car early.

I just did it not too long ago on my FD2. It's good, but depends on your expectation. It makes the paint smooth and easy to clean, but don't expect the same deep warm lustre of waxing and don't expect stone chip protection.

So, get it done if you want to make your life easier when cleaning your car, especially if you don't believe in paying RM 300-400 for a proper detailing session every few months.

Give Raymond at PPS a call if you want a demo. He'll be more than willing to explain and show you.

Any brother here can tell which is better? PPS, Sierra Glow or CARs(those in shopping malls one) ?

So far, i surveyed price for all 3.

PPS for civic is rm780, RM60-80 every 6 mths interval.
Sierra Glow approx RM1000
CARs RM535/year, RM39 wash n wax after become member.

Are the 3 same, or how?
*
You sure the prices are correct? I was told the following actually when I went personally to both places (of course, this is list price and what you get may depend on how good you nego ;-)

PPS - RM 780 one time, RM 120 every 6-9 months interval (1 year also okay if condition is good)
Sierraglow - RM 650 one time, no follow up required.

Both comes with 5 years warranty (depending on car paint condition before coating), so price wise, Sierraglow seems to have an edge. But when it comes to dirt resistance, I think PPS is better since it's really smooth.

As for CARS, I don't even wanna go there. They're okay for convenience, but will tend to leave swirl marks. I suggest if you wanna go down the wax/polish road, DIY it with the greatest care or get those pros to do it.

Hope this helps.

Bro, so which one did u opt for in the end?
How good is PPS and SG?
Is it really so worth the money?

My friend got his car done at CARs and it seems quite ok to me...
*
Did PPS cos my car is white and dirt resistance is important for me rather than just shine. I see the yearly maintenance as a plus actually since I want the coating to be maintained in good condition. I just did it for a few weeks, so I really can't comment on the "worth", but it does make the car much easier to clean and you can feel the paint surface smoother than non-coated. Can't really compare cos I haven't done SG before.

CARs is okay if not particular la. Swirl marks visibility depends on car color and lighting condition. Normally won't see, but on black cars under bright fluorescent lights, you might see a lot of small lines. Really, this depends on how particular you are about the car appearance.

Maybe you can try ZeroSP's suggestion. If Ultra Glass Neo can really offer some protection against scratches and stone chips, then I think it's very much worth the higher price. PPS, SG and waxing is only for appearance and maybe some UV & chemical protection, but not against physical force. Zero found a place with pretty big discount over list price, so do PM him.

Can I bring in my car to do alignment ?

Retards at old klang road service center cant even get alignment done properly

my fd2 steering needss me to counter steer to the left a bit if i wnat to go straight. knn.

irritating me like hell.
*
Since alignment doesn't affect warranty, tak payah lah do at SC. Some SCs don't even have the equipment, so they "outsource" to next door tyre shop also.

Might as well you go look for your own tyre shop that's reputable. I don't know your location, but some guys at 8GCC swear by QuickSave USJ 7. You can give them a try.

hello. need to check whether this is the case with other latest generation civics.

recently, i noticed that when i brake hard on uneven roads i.e potholes, manholes etc, i can feel the braking/vibration effect on the car's brake pedals. in addition, i get the feeling that the car will skid frontward if i continue to apply the brake to a stop (havent happened yet as i didnt yet to have to apply emergency brakes) and this only happens when i brake on uneven roads. (not emergency braking, just harder than normal braking).

Have heard complaints about civic's brakes. Is this sympton normal with the car i.e civic manufacturing defect or something is wrong with my car's brakes?
*
Difficult to say since need to experience, but it does sound like the ABS kicking in, which is a good thing. Normally got this kind of sensation if ABS activated, and I think this happens often over potholes and uneven roads.

Bro yaphong, really sorry for your loss. Don't think anyone can really empathize unless car having experienced car stolen before. If it's me, I will also feel bitter especially if new. Even now also I damn scared every time I park in office since it's open parking (not high enough in the corporate food chain to get a basement parking ;-)

While it's true the stock security is nothing to shout about, but to be fair, I think all systems are breakable especially if inside job where someone is familiar with the system. Honda does recommend the Cobra system as an add-on and I heard it's pretty good, doesn't void warranty also. Just that most people won't pay for it since it's quite pricey, but if you look at the compensation, it's not too bad actually with some special Honda-specific bonuses if car is really not recoverable.

So, a bit of individual risk assessment must happen when deciding on these things la. People who have secured parking at work and live in gated community may think not worth paying for it, but someone who travels a lot might need it. No difference than how you decide which health insurance to buy and what home alarm to install.

Very sorry for you. Every time I hear FD stolen, very scared for my own. Any lessons we can learn from this? What brand of alarm you were using? Do you have steering/gear/pedal lock or anything installed?

Guys, one question that strangely enough I can't seem to find online.

Does anyone know what is the largest memory size for the USB drive supported by a 2010 FD2 HU? My 4GB Sandisk one works fine, but it says unsupported when I plugged in a 16GB one. Although funnily enough, it seems to detect my friend's 16GB Sony drive. Weird, not sure if it's formatting or size that is the problem.
