3G is not called ROAM !!!
u can select the MY MAXIS 3G but ur phone will only appear MY-18 or umobile but there is no MY MAXIS (phone dependent)

but if 2G,
some phone will appear 2 operators' name, some only umobile, and
this is called ROAMING ...

My line still yet ported even though I've walked in to U Mobile CS in Sunway on 24th Feb to voiced out my MNP issue.
Talked to the service person and he claimed he'll use max 5 more working days to settle my case, but till date still an empty promise.

Well, finally my patience is running out. I've decided to cancel my porting to U mobile.

Good luck to the rest of user who's still pending for MNP application.
*
ou god, i also applying mnp to umobile from digi at 10 feb.
till now also hvnt been ported...
may i know when u request for porting?

I know. but still, I can't say that I'll complain to maxis because I'm using umobile's service(although internally umobile is using maxis's services) right?  laugh.gif
*
erm, like this... actually u are ROAM to maxis....
of coz u can complain thru maxis if not mistaken yawn.gif
as we can check all ur number information in maxis network if u log to maxis 2g network smile.gif
and maxis CS is way better than umobile rite? tongue.gif

Anyone know if Umobile is still riding on Maxis network (when umobile no coverage)? Most importantly, riding on both 2G and 3G data or just 2G?

Planning to switch to U48. Thanks.
*
i hv tested 2g speed and 3g speed at klang valley and out of klang valley location

2g can reach 250kbps (which is same as digi),
but most of the area is still edge
3g can reach 2-4mbps at kv and
1-3mbps at okv

for signal? no problem at all.
only no 3g under tunnel (kelana jaya line)

QUOTE(LostAndFound @ Mar 29 2013, 02:09 PM)
If area covered by Maxis and your U don't have coverage problem is your phone settings wei.... got enable roaming tak? U uses Maxis 2G AND 3G whenever out of U coverage area.
*
The statement abit inaccurate.
When you're out of U coverage area, you will able to "roam" to Maxis coverage if and only if Umobile rent the maxis tower.
For example, the umobile genting issue at other thread, although Maxis has 3G there, doesnot mean Umobile user can "roam" to Maxis 3G tower.
example 2 can be Seen from Umobile coverage map,
Umobile 3G only available on Sarawak 4 largest town, does not mean that Maxis only has 3G at these area.
bla bla bla...

Another point is... Umobile User only ROAM to maxis 2G network.... not for 3G

user posted image

Umobile 3G is only RAN sharing.... if user want to login to maxis 3g will be rejected and will attempt another login request to umobile.
3G sharing only share those sites that Umobile wants... not everywhere locations that umobile 3G doesnot exist
user posted image

set roaming doesnot help for the data usually, as I used to incharge of this RAN sharing before...
never set the phone setting to roam also....

are you 100% sure on the situation as at now ?

I only sure many U user cant get 3G while the Maxis subs beside him can get 3G at Outside u coverage.
3G roaming? not sure.... phone dependent is all i can say.....

Hey, just to check whether UMobile is using Celcom line? If it is, they should share similar coverage right? Then, what's the benefit of buying Celcom over Umobile? Celcom's web surfing faster?
*
Umobile 2G uses Maxis network

3G abit complicated ... maybe can google "multiple operators core network" for better explanation if you wanna know
3G using their own core network .... but coverage depends on Maxis at certain area ...
but Maxis 3G coverage =/= umobile 3G coverage
some ppl claims that umobile speed will be slower at these area

what fon you using ?

In Melaka, there is no "pure" UM3G tower, hence you have to select Maxis3G depending what fon you use  icon_idea.gif
*
went melaka at 1 june 2013. my umobile keep at edge only.
my phone doesnot have any mode to select, mean it is wcdma/gsm auto. and no option to select network.
so my umobile ends with getting gprs and edge as long as i at melaka..

Only UMi18 is able to renew multiple times within a 30days period, other Plans like Umi28/38/48 have to wait till the 30th day then only you can renew, but if you are short of data, then just buy Booster Pack @ rm10 for 3days [quota 1GB]
Funny though, what fon is that ?

erm, ninetology palette tongue.gif
never know it cannot select mode and network doh.gif

Some China made fones and tablets behave like that.
Next time, go for either  established Android like Samsung/Sony or HTC.

smile.gif
*
I tot Ninetology is a Malaysia product/brand? wink.gif
Anyway, there must be many other phone models have similar problems like this
which cause umobile losing its customer/make ppl confusing their area's 3G availability ...
so .... sometime sharing network is not good as you can see/foresee ohmy.gif
