Wah-lau...better not update anything now until they test their thing thoroughly. At least mine is still working at the moment, it might get KOed immediately if i update with a not-so-tested firmware released in a hurry. sweat.gif

i didnt unplug my the other seagate hdd and the hdd i updated is on esata connection...when update..make sure u choose the correct disk then it will tell u the other hdd is not seagate product and update the model u choose.
then the update will roughly take 1-2 mins and then it will power off ur pc...just wait a while (make sure u unplug all the power source to ur pc) and then on back ur pc...u will see windows detecting new drive and dang dang dang...ur hdd now is with new firmware!..
*
ur sentence i dun quite get... if u turn off all power source to pc, how u on pc??? rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

haha! true.. USD299 (should be retail price) for 2TB ain't exactly cheap.. maybe malaysia will have cheaper "Installer" pricing..

Added on January 30, 2009, 7:14 pmtoday I went to buy 1more WD 1TB but, instead went for a new stock (datecode 09XXX) Seagate 1.5TB.. couldn't help it..

went to check online... it says below.. (dunno true or not, new stock end dec/early jan09 also not affected??.. I tot they only fixed the firmware on around 21-22nd JAN?? )

SNo  Serial number  Result  Action
1  9VS0XXXX  Drive is not affected.  No action required.

Added on February 4, 2009, 12:54 amFor those of you who upgraded to the SD1A firmware, you're not out of the woods yet.

Apparently there's a problem with the fixed SD1A firmware (v2, the one which fixed the auto bricking of 500GB barracudas). Read on here:

http://forums.seagate.com/stx/board/messag...&thread.id=8569

http://stx.lithium.com/stx/board/message?b...cending&page=10

What can I say, back up your data now.
*
You mean to say the SD1A firmware is still causing problems? and its not a permanent solution to the firmware? Heh, time to buy another hdd, u guys and back up sweat.gif

are these 2 graphs for the same HDD? they were taken 1+hours between each other.
meaning before and after the firmware update ar?
or both graphs represent different units of the same model with SD15 or updated firmware?

Added on February 10, 2009, 8:53 am

Aiks! what kind of signs?
*
What do the graphs mean - someone explain... ? izzit better or worse after upgrade to SD15 firmware?

still send you Seagate?? change to WD lor.. haha!

Seriously, Seagate really should have known better than to release faulty firmware with the hdds... until now some say their hdd is ok, some not after updating to the SD15 firmware
