what's ur mboard make/model?

if u have an onboard soundcard, i believe u need to disable it first in BIOS. disabling it in device manager wont make a difference.

take out the card, clean all the golden contacts with alcohol swabs. also clean the pci slot for any dust or foreign materials

if that fails, get a replacement card. the card itself is faulty

Its possible that you need to re-install the Microsoft HD Audio patch. The driver CD (also check the motherboard driver one) should contain this program.. hmm.gif

a lighted up led doesn't mean the card functions properly. perhaps a damaged caps or two somewhere

restart and re-look back in your bios setting

Ensure you have th eparticular pci slot enable and set the hardware IRQ setting to automatic.

I do encountered the same problem as yours. Same motherboard but with prodigy hd2 soundcard. However after a month trial and error installed, I managed get in on. I can't recall back how but if i'm not mistaken is the OS culprit, try to update your XP/Vista or visit their Q & A. That's how I did it. Sorry pal, nothing much can help.

You should have multiple PCI slots on your DS3L.
All PCI slots fail?

Try again enter bios then disable the onboard sound (make sure the soundcard (pci) connect the slot firmly. then check ur device manager and click twice sound, video and game controller to see the list drivers, make sure there are no yellow question mark otherwise u have to uninstall the yellow driver.(make sure the driver listed under sound, video and game controller is the same driver as the pci soundcard(not the onboard sound driver). remember before install the pci soundcard driver, please remove the old sounddriver.
as highlander says 'There only can be one' so make sure turn-off the onboard sound. shocking.gif

Sorry for digging up this old thread but I promised the forummer to try to replicate the problems and correct it.
TS: I'd recommend that you reset your BIOS to default and re-plug the soundcard to a different port (PCI?) If that doesn't work, try to reformat and update your whole computer. Once your computer has done a full reformat to NTFS and fully updated in Windows. Then only install the soundcard driver from the disc/driver source installer and then restart. It should work that way. Just my 2 cents. Btw, sorry for making you wait so long for this such short reply.
WARNING!: Remember that when you reformat you must REMOVE the soundcard.

hmm.. i beg u try this way, seat the soundcard to the above PCI slot. PCI-0, what i mean is, the first PCI slot, then try it. Sound uncureable? but try it, it got few percentage to make it work.
