How many have read non middle earth books by Tolkien? I happened to pick up a collection of Tolkien shorts titled 'Tales from the Perilous Realm' a long time ago. I wanted it for the Bombadil stories it had, but found those to actually be poems and fairly dry and boring.
Luckily, the book also happened to contain several other stories: Farmer Giles of Ham, Smith of Wootton Major, and Leaf by Nigel. These were great stories. Farmer Giles and his blunderbuss going after giants and dragons, Smith with his faery star, and Nigel's lifelike leaf painting all tend to get overlooked as people focus on LOTR, which is a shame really. If you can find these books, you should pick them up for some light reading and see what Tolkien is like beyond middle earth. |

Nowadays bookstores are only interested in selling Tolkien's LOTR and Middle Earth books. |

Read and own LOTR series and finished The Hobbit awhile ago. I thought The Hobbit were a bit short to my liking. Bilbo's adventure is a walk in the park compared to Frodo's. Lol!

Oic, at least filling in some of the blanks about LOTR series, like the infamous sword "Sting".

Guys , just want to say something.
Do you know that C.S. Lewis , the writer of The Chronicles of Narnia and J.R.R Tolkien were really good friends? |
