I don't really get your question. What I did for my Trekbuddy maps was to 'tar' them and copy them over into the memory card. The Klang Valley map isn't really complete though.

blurjoey:
Still ain't working. The most it got was bout 10% and the bar simply disappears.

Yea, I've checked previous posts written by you, but the Malaysia Map is about 82MB now.. unless I've selected the wrong map.

So far has the Wayfinder been satisfactory for you? I'm planning to get 36 months (not much of a price diff compared to 12 months). Sheesh.. if only I could get it to work now.

I downloaded the maps using the internet line at work (TimeDotCom really fast to European countries). Maybe it's the connection problem. Wayfinder is in Europe I think.

I'll try downloading tomorrow at work the new maps and upload somewhere for you to download.

The price is different on their website and in the C905. Last time I also thought about getting 3 years.

Anyway the wayfinder is good if you don't have or don't want a Garmin GPS which is a lot better.
*
I guess it's the connection problem too. Line's been real unstable lately mad.gif
Ah that's fantastic. Would really appreciate the effort, although I understand uploading 82MB of data isn't easy at all. Thank you, nevertheless.

You mean the subscription price for C905 is cheaper or more expensive? So 1 year subscription is more worthwhile then in your opinion?

QUOTE(mADmAN @ Apr 15 2009, 08:07 PM)
i totally gave up using the wayfinder or the trekbuddy.....

after my bro in law showed me how easy it is to use google maps on his iphone...i decided to use google map on my phone oso...

pay oso pay la....dun care already...at least not much headache compared to the other 2 laugh.gif

besides....i dont use it often... so not really a problem la biggrin.gif
*
Even if you don't use often, a short period of downloading the maps on the fly drains money like crazy!

QUOTE(blurjoey @ Apr 15 2009, 08:14 PM)
Wayfinder got navigation and Gmaps don't.

Anyway if you are using Maxis postpaid, you can subscribe to the 5MB data pack for RM5-8 per month (can't remember which). Before I subscribed, my 3G/2G usage was RM80+ for downloading 5MB data for that month from using the Wayfinder and Gmaps sweat.gif  sweat.gif  sweat.gif
*
Owh, another great finding. I didn't know it's that cheap to subscribe a 5MB data pack. But how long could 5MB last anyway?
Exactly my point, my usage was approximately at RM30 or so now from using Gmaps alone sad.gif

Here is the link for the maps of Malaysia & Singapore 82MB for Wayfinder Navigator in a zip file of 21.6MB

http://rapidshare.com/files/222252109/other.zip.html

Please delete your old maps (*.wfd files) in your M2's other folder and replace with the above.

Anyone can download and upload to somewhere permanent? Can only be downloaded 10 times.
*
Thank you so much bro! biggrin.gif Much appreciated. Finally downloaded after trying a couple of times (streamyx is really getting on my nerves lately, with 3-4kb/s dl speeds). Would mirror them as soon as my line stabilizes.

I think the link is broken, thanks for the effort though. I'm sorry to hear bout your earpiece problem. They sure take a long time to repair.. perhaps the component is not readily available? Look on the bright side, at least they did not rush through your phone smile.gif Something occured yesterday with my phone midst conversation though, suddenly couldn't hear the other person talking. But it wasn't permanent. Hopefully nothing is wrong, probably network interference or something like that.

It is zip'ed (compressed). So the file size is reduced significantly. You'd nid winZIP to unzip them smile.gif

Anyway, I can't find a way to load the maps o_o;

blurjoey: I'm still in doubt. I've turned off A-GPS but it still is connecting via GPRS. Anyway after copying the maps into the 'other' folder, do I have to load/locate the maps using Wayfinder? Doesn't seem to automatically load the maps for me.

No need to load the map. It will load automatically.

I still see the globe once in awhile when the GPS signal is lost. Maybe the the 5MB data pack I subscribed from Maxis made me feel the usage is not that heavy and expensive tongue.gif  tongue.gif  tongue.gif

Anyway I can't use wayfinder anymore as it has expired cry.gif  cry.gif  cry.gif

Added on April 18, 2009, 8:19 am

Yes but we can't talk about pirated software here. Better go to the forum that can.
*
Oh, cool. I see the irritating globe once in awhile too, still feel that it's actually downloading something..although the consumption is no longer that much. I've read in the manual that the downloaded map requires to be 'activated', but I just can't find the option to do so.

I've read bout the package on maxis' official website, but there's no instructions on how to subscribe the package rclxub.gif

Any plans on subscribing bro? Or u plan to crack it right away? tongue.gif brows.gif

QUOTE(y_owez @ Apr 18 2009, 01:32 PM)
whats the current price tag?

hows the camera>
*
Bought mine about RM1720, Midland set two weeks back. Atlantis SS2 was selling about RM1600 that time for original. I could imagine the price would've dropped slightly by now.

Camera's awesome. (Is it just me, or I've a dejavu that I've answered this question before.. hmm.gif )
But, in the wrong hands (such as mine).. it still could produce ordinary pictures easily surpassed by lower camera specifications.

vmad.gif  mad.gif damn angry of what they said about c905 there. is either they dont do enough research on c905 or when they got hold of their camera phone, they just got cocky.

thumbup.gif c905 is the top seller in UK for camera phone. from what i read last time.
*
Chill, they haven't really see what C905 could do. Let's prove it to them in due time. I've read about the same thing. Anyway have you figured out how to utilize the Trekbuddy maps?

hm... so far i dun think they've made cam drivers and acoustic drivers for C905 yet...
if im not mistaken its diff than previous A200 phones... dunno y. =p
anyway, gonna go look it up.
i think any changes wif the internal software of the phone voids warranty...if they find out la... lol.
if they dun find out then good lo.
*
They are available, there's one camdriver by DarkMagician from the esato forums that's reasonably not bad. Would try it out soon. Can they trace whether there have been any modifications? Like, a log or something in the system unsure.gif

QUOTE(pakhusin @ Apr 19 2009, 12:57 PM)
Camdriver: how bout this one on this thread
Acoustics: usually ppl don't mod it, but replace it with modded ones from walkman series.
*
Yup, that's the thread I've been reading biggrin.gif

On a side note, a test shot with the original camdriver. Not what I'm expecting. Auto mode, Macro, No Flash and Fluorescent lighting. Man, I'm one lousy photographer. Any tips on good macro shots? notworthy.gif

In my opinion the volume isn't really low at all. I myself didn't set the volume to the max. Worth a comparison with another phone as mentioned by pakhusin. Luckily your phone is capable of self recovery biggrin.gif

bro, some of maistora's photos looks like its edited to look like HDR photos (correct me if im wrong). Not a really good indication of how good the camera is
One method that i always use with SE is to focus on text that is the same distance as the object. Eg: put a paper with text in front of the object, focus it, then take the paper away and snap. depends on what u want to focus la actually
I see, no wonder la the pictures so cantik... haha.. tongue.gif
Oh thank you, that's a nice trick. Im gonna practise the paper trick soon enough.
And, thanks for the link, I'm sure many would appreciate it.

pakhusin: You can 'tar' the Trekbuddy maps if the maps are lagging your phone. I'm positive ian90 has posted the methods, try searching through older posts.

On second thought, here:

Put the "untar version" folder in the same place as the maketar.bat then only double click it.

After successfully converted, copy n paste the whole "tar version" folder into your mem stick into the trekbuddy/maps folder.

then...launch trekbuddy and select "options -> load atlas" then go to the maps folder and select the file there.

Credit goes to ian90.

It has navigation possibilities. You'd have to install/copy the CMS theme. I haven't started exploring around it though.

I agree. It's sad to read bout such a news. Don't let it mess you any further, bring it back to the service center. Seems whoever repaired your set didn't do a great job. More like they messed up the tactical response of the keypad.

quite handy application there, but there's a flaw in it. If ppl really have intention to steal data from your phone, they can just change the extension of .lck back to the original extension tongue.gif nevertheless, useful  icon_rolleyes.gif

*Added into the recommended application list, as well as the TrekBuddy msia+sg map, added into the TrekBuddy map list  cool.gif

The map's not Trekbuddy's. It's a Wayfinder Navigator map bro. Might cause some sorta confusion there.. smile.gif

QUOTE(equustel @ May 5 2009, 09:20 PM)
After finding some time off last week to visit the service centre regarding my battery problem, I got it back today. The whole motherboard's been replaced, "so it's like a new phone", according to the officer who'd handled my collection.

Um.

Nope.

When I got home, I turned it on in the evening (around 5:30 PM) as I was busy with other things. Now? The battery's gone down by more than half, and all I've done is just send a couple of messages and add some contacts.

I've emailed Sony Ericsson to see if I can get them to exchange my phone for a new unit because this constant back-and-forth between my home and the service centre (which is at Orchard, Singapore since I'd bought it there) is getting on my nerves. Gah! rclxub.gif

It's seriously spent more time at the service centre than in my hands since I'd bought it in late January.
*
From what I've realized, the phone's battery depletes rather quickly after the 1st charge. What was the battery % when you first turned it on? Give the phone a day or two, probably they've replaced your batteries to a new one. New batteries do have the tendency to get dry after several hours of normal usage. On a side note, I personally think C905's battery couldn't last very long even after several charges. shakehead.gif

It was 100% when I'd turned it on. One thing to note is that the back of the screen, when you slide it up, is very warm. I'll try giving it a full eight-hour charge tomorrow, see if it persists. (But I guess if they did give me a new battery, they'd have told me, right? sad.gif)
*
So they've fully charged before returning it back to you, I've initially thought it wasn't tongue.gif Warm? Haven't really ventured into touching that area during heavy usage. But on normal usage (on 60% brightness) it's rather cold. Normally the back of my battery cover is warm if I utilize GPS applications, or during charging. Were there any applications running in the background?

And have you turned off the 3G detecting function? If you're not using 3G then it's wise to turn that function off, by going into Settings > Connectivity > Mobile networks > GSM/3G networks. Then select GSM only.

On a side note, I think the back of the slider shouldn't be warm at all. I'll try running under 100% brightness today and see how things turn up if I leave the screen light on upon extended period of time.
