I updated mine too! But via the hardway. SEUS wasn't really successful. It stopped at 98% permanently and nothing can be done to get pass it. And I was left with a dead phone. In the end I had to send it in for firmware flashing which was done in about an hour.

Anyway I notice one discrepancy. The Wayfinder application is still named as Wayfinder 7 but the version is now 8.1.13. So I got the Wayfinder 8 or its an older version?
*
It's wayfinder navigator 8. I think everyone has it showing 7 in the applications folder. But you can see the new icon and a bit of interface change.

My 2 key don't have the mentioned above.

demmit! i just got my maxis bill. rmbr i was saying last CNY that sending many smses will convert into MMS? I keep getting the "sending failed" msg even after I tried twice.

Now my Bill says
167 MMS = RM72.25

filled with 1KB mmses ranging from RM0.25-0.50 each cry.gif

Have you set the correct settings for SMS?

Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Message Settings > Text message > Service Centre > +60120000015

I've have sent out 185 SMS and it's charge in the SMS section not MMS.

All this is already known here. And why are you just focusing on the cons? What about the pros?

how to diy??

These are the cons of AP.

Wait for the reqion your C905 is from to have the firmware update and update then lor.

Or if you dare to take risks of your phone becoming a paper weight, you can try the steps DavidMak found and mentioned in the last few pages.

If original can use SEUS to update. Or if scared then bring to SE service center and get it done FOC since under warranty.

I think the China firmware is part of the APAC firmware for the chinese language for the phone. So just because China is written there doesn't mean you got a C905 from China region.

So I don't why you guys are making such a big hoo ha for what?

Anyway the phone is made in China! So it's your other electrical gadgets!

guys, i was about to get the C905, until a fren's fren who's a phone seller in SG Wang claims that 10 out of 10 AP C905 he sold all got prob and returned to him... so he highly NOT recommend this phone...

but what I see is that most ppl in LYN here been using the phone happily right?? Any problem/issue you face so far?
*
I got the same remark from my cousin who work in a handphone shop but that is for AP C905s that manufactured before 51w08 production week that has the most problems.

Make sure you check on the sticker near the sim card slot what is the production week before you buy. It will look like 51w08 which means week 51 for year 2008. The battery also have a production week.

Those here who got original is mostly after week 51 2008 onwards. But I do remember some members here using AP got no issues.

Anyway which handphone is 100% problem/issue free?

Actually AP is also originals in other regions. It is because of the first batch of C905 that have all these problems. Especially those manufactured before week 51 of 2008.

But there are pros and cons to buying AP or Original. So that will depends on the person who wants buy AP or Original.

Hi. Can someone help me with my wayfinder?
I downloaded the wayfinder maploader.
Restarted my phone as mass storage and tried to download the map for malaysia.
But, it keeps staying at 0%.

Help?
*
I think it's a problem with streamyx when downloading the 55mb map of Malaysia. These few days streamyx is so slow or not moving at all. Tried other providers.

I've downloaded at my work place much faster than streamyx. Also you can use a thumbdrive instead of the phone to download the maps from maploader. Then just copy into the M2.

Better you tell the pros and cons of both to let him decide for himself which to get.

Original is better and safer in what sense? The statement is too brief. whistling.gif whistling.gif whistling.gif

All handphones are made in China. It could be from Taiwan region.

You can find the manual in english on the SE website if you're looking for it.

Then yours is the branded phones? Like Vodafon? I think those you have to debrand first to update with the latest SE updates. Or you have to wait for the provider to release the branded firmware update.

I've read through some of the Vodafone forums and there isn't much update from Vodafone with the new features and fixes the SE have for the C905.

hi guys,

just wanna ask.. my c905 have software version of

R1BA042

I found out that there is new software update version of R1DA032..

Can i proceed to update my phone?
is there any problem with this version? Or is there any more newer software update version?

thanks,,,,
*
If your C905 is AP then there could be some problem of detecting the latest version as it is from a different region. You could wait till the region that your C905 is from to have the updated firmware then update. Or you could change the CDA to make SEUS detect the new firmware like what Mr. Green said.

There is no problems mentioned above for original C905 to be updated.

This the latest and major update which actually fixed a lot of issue and there is new features added.

Here you go. Found it easily using google.

http://forums.se-nse.net/index.php?showtopic=36503

There are risks to change the CDA. So the decision up to you. Have fun!

MOD - Not sure the link is legal or not. But do let me know if it is then I remove it. Thanks.

Is there other way to upgrade the software version instead of changing the CDA?
*
Um... Wait for the region to have the updated firmware. Or bring to SE service center/the shop you bought the AP and pay RM40-60 to update the firmware if not original.

They do have authorized SE service centers. Found this list:
http://forums.se-nse.net/index.php?showtopic=1287

Anyway his C905 is Vodafone branded. Means it is using customized SE firmware. Usually they need to bring back to Vodafone for warranty not to SE.

Found an issue with the display of contact name:

I saved my contact in the format,
Surname(Last Name), Given name

e.g. Tan, Ah Meng

in the contact list I've set the names to be sorted by Last name, which everything is fine.

but in the calling screen and the call logs, the names are shown in a weird format
e.g. Meng Tan, Ah

do you guys have this problem? anyway to configure this?
*
Don't have such problem in my C905. All my contacts are saved as Jane Doe Foo See or Sor Chai Ming will display the same thing in the contacts and while calling.

You got put the comma (,) in the names?

See this reply in the Vodafone forum dated 3rd of February 2009:

QUOTE
Hi roadrunner32000,

I completely understand your frustration over this, but it's likely there's been such a delay because we want to make sure that the update genuinely does fix all of the issues. There'd be no value in us rushing an update out which didn't fix everything either- ultimately we want all of our customers to be happy, and so as soon as there's something we can do to enhance the experience you're getting, we'll do it.

As there's nothing more we can add to this thread at present I'm going to close it. If there's valuable information to be given to you all once the firmware is available, we'll reopen threads like this, or bump them with a link to one central thread with all of the useful information in them.

Thanks,

Tom
