I have a cheaper solution smile.gif What I normally do is to use some soap + water and carefully clean it off from the IHS/Core. After that, rinse carefully with water and try not to touch the bottom part (pins) with water. Leave it dry for a while and you're done. Make sure it's really "dry" and water free.

I've been doing this since my AMD times and never had problems. You just have to do it right. If you're worried, go for the alcohol method smile.gif

At some point back, people that uses water cooling and soldering resistors on their motherboards are also considered using "brave" techniques/methods smile.gif Many people don't do things right so you kill something in the end. Hence, the problem is with the "implementation", not the "method".

yeah .. thats the right word to use .. "implementation" ..

other people might use the same method as him .. but how they do it might be different .. so as you can see, same "method" different "implementation" laugh.gif

Use zippo fluid for the hardened brick thermal grease, <== this melts any grease except coollaboratory's liquid

Use alcohol for semi hardened thermal grease

Tissue for wet thermal grease.

Use the search function next time please smile.gif
