I have a cheaper solution smile.gif What I normally do is to use some soap + water and carefully clean it off from the IHS/Core. After that, rinse carefully with water and try not to touch the bottom part (pins) with water. Leave it dry for a while and you're done. Make sure it's really "dry" and water free.

I've been doing this since my AMD times and never had problems. You just have to do it right. If you're worried, go for the alcohol method smile.gif

brave method, indeed

At some point back, people that uses water cooling and soldering resistors on their motherboards are also considered using "brave" techniques/methods smile.gif Many people don't do things right so you kill something in the end. Hence, the problem is with the "implementation", not the "method".
