I did my Ecotint in Taipan. So far no complains about the workmanship. Quite satisfy about it. With your budget you could try the Ray Barrier range. 10 years warranty.

Yup, V-Kool is not Smart Tag friendly. Have to go extra slow, OR I take it out of the window. So far, for GPS is okie. My GPS can work on V-Kool.

Give more preferences to the workmanship of the tinting. Not the tint item itself. hmm.gif Tint item can go so far. I would rather have a master who puts second best or third best brand rather than have noob put best brand hmm.gif

From personal experience, VKool does have some issue with Smart Tag.
Since the "reader" is somewhere at the middle of the Smart Tag lane, you have to directly put your Smart Tag near the rear mirror. Doesn't work if you put on the dashboard. Alternative is holding it out of ur car window.

that means such tint will block some sort of frequency in & out of the car.

no matter it's GPS, touch & go, auto-gate & i wonder how about handphones?

i think it won't effect radio reception coz the antenna is outside gua...

is it the darkness, thickness or paper quality that effects? thanks thumbup.gif

Not really sure about radio reception because my antenna is like bee-sting style.
So far, I've tried SmartTag, GPS and auto-gate remote.

its from 3M so yeah.....the quality is superb. i've been using 3M tints since i owned a car. the difference with having no tint and having the crystalline 70 is heaven and hell.

but as for smarttag, unfortunately it's not friendly. so i have one part above my rear view mirror which is not tinted. so i'll hold my smart tag there when i need to use it. not so much of a big problem to me.

i myself using solargard for my whole car.for me is not very heat reflective.my fren using vkool is much better.all i noe is solargard is from korea and vkool is from US as my cousin is working at vkool at PJ opposite ferrari, bently and masserati showroom( if u noe whre is it. for smart tag issue, i hv to go very slow, coz it will appear 'Tiada Smart tag' for a second den only can detect it, only den the gate will raise up.

thanks. was thinking vkool earlier, but afraud it'll get 'rusty' + not smart tag frenly due to teh metal substance.

of wat i gathered, wingard is best in security but not on heat. eco however gd on heat but not security. arghhh. so diff to decide now sad.gif

not sure about other brand, was told wingard uses special glue which can form something like a sec and thats the reason they can do 2 in 1. wall. eco however dual layer, heat + security, where the security is fully rely on the security film. correct me if i m wrong. smile.gif

yup. was told ecotint fully rely on security film (another layer on top of RB) to protect the car, whereas wingard uses special glue + 2 in 1 film for both solar and security protection. not sure if this is true, can any bro here verify this pls.. smile.gif

I just got my car tinted yesterday at Carekool Uptown..friendly and good service..they have a special offer now RM528 (original price RM1.1k) for 82% IRR.

Highly recommended because the price is reasonable and affordable.

Hello, I'm new here.

Here is my survey for my car after I searching around for the best tint with the best price.

(1) 3M Crystalline 70 (ws)/60 (side/rear) - RM1800 (3M authorised dealer) - 5 years warranty

(2) 3M Crystalline 70 (ws)/60 (side/rear) - RM1500 (green cool tint shop) - 5 years warranty

(3) Carecool Max (ws/rear) / Maxcool (side) - RM1750 (Carecool tint shop); Maxcool is security film with high heat protection (UVR shocking.gif 99% ) - 7 years warranty

(4) Ecotint Raybarrier (all windows) - RM1500 (Ecotint shop) - 10 years warranty

(5) V-Cool Elite (ws) / Safegard security film (side/back) - RM1888 with free GPS navigator or RM1350 w/o GPS navi (Tint Shop) - 5 years warranty

Still blurr which one to choose. Consider to have security film with high heat protection as Maxcool but too pricey.
Going to survey another shop.

I went for the Ray Barrier at the USJ 9 Taipan Ecotint Shoppe last Friday (26th June), the Sales Assistant, Ms. June is chatty, helpful and her level of personal service is amazing. I am very happy with the results of the tinting.

(4) Ecotint Raybarrier (all windows) - RM1500 (Ecotint shop) - 10 years warranty
- good specs, good price.
- if you want the 4 mil security film, it's additional RM100 per window (4 windows so it's RM400), they will stick it first, then the ray barrier film goes on.

first, there was a pre-check to determine if there's any problems with your car before they do the job. And when the job is being done, there's a viewing gallery of them working on the car. You can sit there and view all the sifus at work. At the end, they drove my car out front and didn't let me leave yet, 10 minutes to let the film settle in and Ms. June helped me to check around again for bubbles. Her trained eye was a lot better than mine and picked up some loose film, some bubbles and immediate told her guys to rework it on the spot. notworthy.gif Total installation time ~ 3 hours.

The installation went without a hitch, though at the end there were some bubbles when my car was pronounced finished but they assured me after baking in the sun for about 3 days, the bubbles would go away. Sure enough they did. thumbup.gif

I'd recommend everyone here to go for Ecotint's Ray Barrier, because of the extended warranty, no nonsense service and did I mention the heat shielding is amazing? I drive around at noon time with aircon at level 1 fan set at the lowest cool setting. How amazing is that? The price is right, the product is good, what more can you ask? Oh can pay with Credit Card too, haha!

Best of all...! I was lucky enough to be served by Mr. Tan the boss of Ecotint as well, he saw me waiting and then asked me if I wanted something to drink, he immediately sold me on some air limau kasturi from the restaurant opposite and brought the drink to me, he said it's on him. I was blown away... a bit later as I didn't know he was the top guy at Ecotint. rclxms.gif

so do give them a call,

Ecotint Shoppe
38-1, Jalan USJ 9/5Q, UEP Subang Jaya, Petaling Jaya Selangor 47620 Malaysia
Tel : 03-8023-1612
ask for Ms. June

If you want a more relaxed environment ASTRO etc while you wait, you can go to their other branch in Sri Hartamas. Well, if you don't know what tinting will do for your car, take the demo... you'll be impressed!

for heat rejection, v-kool done good job

not safegard..it's solargard. Shop is TintShop at Kepong, nearby Aircool tintshop.
In another area, at Tmn Fadason, Kepong, the AcroTint offer me RM1370 with 99% heat rejection with security 5mil film. The color looks nice too. Will survey to EcoTint later.

Hey people, sorry for reviving such an old thread.
Planning to tint my saga. Main concerns : Heat & blocking of UV rays.
I got a quotation from a VKool shop in Uptown, RM988 for VKool elite.
Haven't come across a 3m shop around my area yet, but how much would it roughly cost for the 3M - heat tinting? Thanks

in today's car tint... UV rejection is almost a GIVEN, and it has been a simple standard that UV rejection is expected.

if you noticed, most car tint on the market today have 99% UV rejection (with the exception on those colored plastic used to wrapped easter eggs!)

car windshield, being made of glass, are natural UV shield by itself.. so expecting more and more UV protection from a tint is almost "unnecessary" to most people (unless you have a symptom which you're allergic to UV rays)

the quality battle today falls on workmanship, visibility and heat rejection versus cost. alot of people always have this "default" idea/mentality that expensive = good.. and that's how expensive brands are able to retain it's exorbitant pricing strategy for so long..

regarding this tinting, i also having problem which tinting brand, type should i get... ranging from cheapest to expensive and why the price range difference? is it because of the won't tear? "calar"? and else?

...and what to take into consideration when getting a good tint film? biggrin.gif

Just applied V-kool Elite and window shield on my car, been using V-kool for a number of years, applied on 5 cars (family cars) and have always enjoyed it's great effect. Very effective and most of the time the car is parked under the hot sun and it isn't that hot.

Should go back to the shop and get it replaced. Last time I had to peel out the Vkool to pass puspakom inspection. After that go back and they put back a new film for me.

its only 5 years and cover the first owner, example u tint your car, then u sell ur car to me after 1 year, then the warranty is void. its only cover first owner.

nowadays, security film not helping much. even 6mil film , robbery can use knife to cut, or use something sharp to make a hole then the film will break. security film juz protect u from smashing from outside. good film producer dun produce security tint. vkool and 3m not encourage customer to do so, but of coz if customer insist want it they will place 1 more clear layer film 2mil or 4mil as security film, which is useless lar. if your car sink into water u cannot go out by breaking the side windows. and front and rear windows is tempered thick glass lol. so better buy more insurance rather than buy security film. juz my humble comment.

I was interested in getting a 3M tinting, but was reluctantl to use a crystalline series due to the cost. But instead opt for the 3M 50HP series.

Does anyone has any idea on this series of 3M? I was told it rejects up to 80% of heat. How true is it?
