There is one emulator that can play PlayStation 2 right on your PC (I don't know if it is true), and the emulator is called PCSX2.
Taken from Wikipedia about PCSX2: PCSX2 is a PlayStation 2 (PS2) emulator for the Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems. With the most recent versions, many PS2 games are playable (although speed limitations have made play-to-completion tests for many games impractical), and several games are claimed to have full functionality.[1] The main bottleneck in PS2 emulation is emulating the multi-core PS2 on PC architecture. Although each CPU can be emulated well, getting the synchronization and timing between them to be accurate is very difficult.
Just want to ask, is anyone already tried PCSX2 on PC and playing PlayStation 2 on it? Might you don't care if you can share about it?

yeah it can play, but you need to have a display card which is more expensive than a set of PS2 to run smoothly.

The emulator works, but not with all games. Plus you'll be needing at least a Mid-Range Graphics Card and Core 2 Duo Processor in order to play games in good speed. As long as it has been for PCSX2, it's still W.I.P and if you count the overall costs to play PS2 games on the pc then you'll understand why Zeroize and alwizbthere said it's NOT WORTH IT. That still doesn't count the numerous compatibility problems you have to deal with. Get the actual console already. Unless your PC is already quite damn powerfull or you just want to test the emulator. *I doubt it, most people only want to play* You may PM me on how to get the stuff, but i'll never post it here as the PS2 BIOS needed to use the PS2 EMU is illegal to be shared. And i'd probably won't bother teaching so much about the settings as it is a bit troublesome. The current Branch version of PCSX2 is now known as PCSX2 Playground and is much faster than the old official version. This post has been edited by man3k: Feb 2 2009, 03:39 PM

QUOTE(badaboom666 @ Jan 15 2009, 02:20 PM) is this how u get all ur stars? now wonder... 10k club my arse i did not earn my stars from spamming meaningless for stuffs unrelated to the topic if you dun like it, feel free to go report my posts i might be crass, but as a former tester of the emulator, i can say you are better off playing on a consoles dun be starting a flame war when there's nothing to start off with. if TS had to resort to using an emulator to play with ps2 games, the time spent solving the problems might as well be spent on his books which will be beneficial to him in the long run

It running. But take this example:
a pc with single core and a couple of gb of ram only runs FFX less than 15fps.
AND... I think the graphic card don't really helps much. But it sides more to RAM and CPU. If you OC your CPU and RAM, I hope they don't burnt running PCSX2... LOL

trust me, it not worth your time to change configuration here and there just to play a PS2 game with an emulator.
If you used the time to earn money, you can earn the money to buy a PS2 and the game u want.

pcsx2 was still in WIP status. but i tried myself a GTAVCS and it work around 20-30fps with my current rig. i see some Quadies and 8800gt can play smoothly with that game.
and just now i played Shining Force EXA, and it worked well and not so smooth la. but still fun to play!

at the current performance of the software and the price of ps2 hardware though, i doubt they'll want to complete it unless its more of a personal satisfaction thing.

Dont waste time on emulator if you really want to enjoy PS2 games. No emulators ever works flawlessly.. comparing to the real thing. But if your PC really fast and you hav plenty of time to try then giving it a run, do no harm.
