Here is the drawing for the power supply, pardon my drawing tongue.gif

urm, where did you get this schematic? This isn't RC supply.

If RC, the R must be in series to get a "low pass effect". This way it just adds inductance and ESR to your capacitor.

I drew it myself based on reading from here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snubber

Do you have any suggestion?

Snubber bukan liek dis oneee.

In your case, you should read up on CRC supplies. The way it works is to have a small amount of V drop before it hits the capacitor. Which in your case, if V+ is taken in between the R and C instead would form the correct RC supply.

Now CRC is a tricky thing in terms of management. You'll need to know what currents you're pulling.

Better to tell us what you're driving with it.

I dont understand a thing about crc supply.. tongue.gif

I want to drive 2x 15W speaker and a 30W (sub) woofer using TDA2050. Based on datasheet absolute maximum rating, output peak current is 5A

EDIT:

This is my simulation for active bandpass filter for sub(woffer) 15Hz ~ 200Hz, unity gain

malas mode 100%. later if I'm rajin again i'll post some calculations.

For passive filters, you'll have to know what levels of ripple is acceptable as well. What is your target ripple and bandwidth?

One finding I would like to post about OPA2227 and OPA2107. I din have time to test OPA2107 in the PCB CMOY, just now sawped it, to my surprise, the sound is much clear, not as laid back and dark as OPA2227, bass are more accurate. I tried to put OPA2107 in my stripboard version of CMOY, surprising, I cant hear any different between OPA2227 and OPA2107? Why does this happening.

One more thing about transformer hum:

OPA2227: Very load hum at full volume.
OPA2107: No hum at all, just faint "white noise" at full volume.

EDIT:
The stripboard version uses Panasonic FM cap bought from jalan pasar, the PCB one use Panasonic FC(bought online).

Chances are, the op-amps are oscillating. You'll need to stabilize them. IMO properly done, op-amp makes very little difference from each other.

What do you mean by level of ripple?

Can the power supply schematic in the link can be used: http://www.shine7.com/audio/pa100_3.htm

I dont have oscilloscope to test sad.gif

Edit:

LT1083 is freaking expensive : http://malaysia.rs-online.com/web/p/low-dr...lators/5454862/

You can try this link. It has good basic info.

Basically, you have to find what bandwidth you're targetting. For audio supplies, I would target somewhere around 20-30kHz. This is passive supply so ripple will be higher. Ultimately you have to find out what level of "distortion" is acceptable. I'll post some spoon feeding calculations if you're still confused after work if you're interested.

To get an oscilloscope, our lab at MMU has a TDS1001B IIRC. You can use it to troubleshoot your op-amp oscillations. Try to inject a 100kHz square wave at the input and check the output. Make sure the square wave looks good with little "overshoot".

Greetings fellow nerds/bastards,

I will be buying The Wire Boards (google "the wire amp diyaudio") from opc soon (just added my name) anyone who wants to share shipping and purchase as well lemme know.

These are some of the best designs on the planet. Pretty much designed for the least distortion and highest performance. You can't get anything better than this for now.

i have this tripath TA2024 class-T amp. looking for a nice pre-amp.
since i am using a smps 12v/4A for this amp, it's best if the pre also share the supply.
any recommend? CKD version also ok. biggrin.gif  i can DIY my self. biggrin.gif

you have a pot in front already.

Just get a stepped attenuator for the upgrade (passive pre-amp, although the word "amp" is pointless in this context)

Save the money you'd spend on preamp for upgrades later.

Is stepped attenuator a kind of vr? where can i get it and roughly how much for a stereo one?

This is a pretty good buy.

I use the DACT CT-2 for my speaker amp tongue.gif

Just assembled a cmoy amp using the JDS v2.03r PCB, does anyone know where to get a recommended charger for the amp?

I haven't stuffed the device in a tin yet but I'm getting noise when adjusting the volume knob, and there is some noise at loud volumes as well. Is this expected from cmoy amps, and are there any suggestions on how to fix it?

take pics of your build, and list down the components you used.

JDS v2.03R board with all the stock JDS components. May get some opamps from my.element14.com later for comparisons with the OPA2227PA.

Take close up shots, the top and bottom.

I need to see how the work looks like.

How about 2 units of 18650 or 16650 3.7V Li-Ion battery ??

Google for them ...

LI-ION is explosive.

Not recommended for those with little to no experience in electronics.
