The weather is shit these past few days.

I went to Royal Melbourne Show @ 6-8 degrees with horrific winds and caught a minor cold. Blah.

How bout staying in the inner suburbs? Rent is much lower. And you still can get to uni in 15-30 mins via trams.

Hey mates. I'm back in Msia from Australia.

Problem is, My Samsung F480 can't be used coz its from "3" and so... how do i deal with it?

Friends said call or go to "3" and unlock it before getting back to Msia. Yeah. Thats a big help. Doh, I'm already BACK!

So, they said go to "3"s website which I did, but theres nothing about phone unlocking.

Any experts in this area? I really need that phone, I got no other phone here.'

Thanks heaps mate.

Hi all.

I'm studying in Australia. I got my Samsung F480 from "3" from over there.

I'm here for 3 months holiday, and want to use my phone here.

Problem is, I was too kan cheong to use it, i inserted Hotlink SIM card inside and when requested for a code... I quickly typed in my PIN code.

...
...
...

Actually the phone was asking for an unlocking code. I kept entering my PIN code and kept wondering "WHY IS THIS BLADY THING NOT WORKING? DON'T TELL ME I FORGOT THE CODE!!!! ARGHHHHHHHH!!!!!" *press press press*

Then I failed 3 times. Then I called my Australian service provider and they said "Uh oh, you have just permanently locked your phone. You should have called us and asked for your unlocking code. Now you are GG-fied, we cannot do anything, your phone is PERMANENTLY LOCKED."

WTF.

I wonder if anyone can rectify this problem for me? I'm not sure of handphone terminology here. Is this considered Unlocking a phone? IF SO, can my phone be unlocked by anyone here? AND ON TOP OF THAT, will I be able to use an Australian SIM when I go back in Feb?

*My Australian service provider claims that only Samsung will be able to do anything with it and the matter is out of their hands now*

What should I do? *cries*
That phone is my baby sad.gif

They said after 3 tries, the phone permanently locked wor? And then they said "After that happens, we cannot do anything". What kind of bull is that.

I didn't take on the $69 cap for 24 months to be told my phone is equivalent to scrap metal now. And calling them from here, cost me RM50+ already cause they always ask me to hold the line. Btw their service personnel all outsourced to India. Indian operators greet me, their accent is so distinct.

Printers are dead cheap over there. Like really dead cheap. Australia is not some ulu place... they have competitive prices and latest stuff all over too.

Btw thanks for the replies on my phone problem. I'll have to give lowyat a try.

But I'll be at a lost to explain to all the chinese speaking lala-chais who won't understand my predicament. Gah.

QUOTE(Lemonfish @ Dec 27 2009, 06:13 PM)

I am not quite sure what it meant by permanently unlocked but I do have the same problem as you last time. I subscribe for a phone from optus and unable to use Malaysia sim card. So I went to Lowyat PLaza and pay RM 10 for people to unlock it for me and they did that in 5 minutes. Maybe you can just go and try your luck in Lowyat Plaza and any Mobile phone shop.

CHeers, don't worry. I think it is just the software issue of the phone. No big deal

Thanks for the heads up man. Mine is a hardlocked phone and not softlocked. Means only the manufacturer, or somebody who is able to re-set the locking codes can do it. I think la. That's what a professional phone unlocker guy told me @_@

Anwyay, looks like i'll have to spend a few hundred bucks.

Guys, never ever try to unlock your phone without a code lol. After 3 times, your phone becomes scrap metal like mine :s
