hmm my vote goes to both altec and logitech..
my subwoofers sort of complement each other as altec's bass is very deep and logitech's sub's slightly higher.
gotta say i love my setup:)

any suggestion to a decent or perhaps i shud say premium speaker?
prefer 2.1 as i din reali watch movies or wateva, dun reali nid 5.1 oso..

budget is around rm200-300++
sonic gear is out of my list as for d quality..
altec lansing is nt so good dy for new model nw? cz i see d spec macam nt so good la..
hw bout logitech? ok onot?
or any other nice n cheap brand to introduce?

thx.. smile.gif

Added on June 13, 2011, 4:49 amohya, is the RMS power output bigger means d speaker is powerful?

as i listen to songs alwayz, pop songs, r&b, etc..
n i do hear orchestra pieces also,
so decent bass n treble n mid sound are needed, "true" sound is required, which means no lack of bass or lack of vocal voice or etc..

Vorador - how much you pay for the Companion 3? It is listed at USD229 at Bose website.

Anyone using M-Studio Studiophile speakers?

well all the speaker price rocket shoot up when export to other country... sad.gif and then 'speaker' is an prohibited item to be exported from US doh.gif

anyway I bought it from Sg, during great singapore sales, at SGD 349. + the creative sound blaster ex another 80, so total 429.

Planning to buy Z5500 tomorrow. Or should I wait for Z906?

Better go for Z5500, try google around you'll find out only downside of Z906 from users.

But if you do have a good soundcard and proper equipment to tune your Medium range(not low-end) multimedia speakers, almost all of them sound very decent no matter if the satellites are full range driver or separated with tweeter and midrange drivers.

I already purchased Z906. It may be inferior but it is slightly cheaper. Furthermore, I haven't really see the real argument of the Z5500 except it has bigger bass.

In my opinion, common brands like Sonic Gear, Altec Lansing, Creative, Edifier and etc. Are cater for average buyer at affordable & reasonable quality. Fair enough.

However, serious Audiophile will opt for high end renown brand like Naim, B&W, REL couple with an amplifier to boost the experience.

Currently I'm using Bose Companion 3 which is above satisfactory:)

Thank you!

Vorador: My sound comes from on-board sound card. Bose amplifier and mechanics will do the rest to produce quality crisp sound:)

Thanks for the cheers mate.

Added on June 29, 2011, 1:33 pmBack in those days my first high quality desktop speakers was Altec Lansing 45.1 and followed up by 48.

Honestly speaking 45.1 was a good speaker compared to Altec Speakers produced in this era. Due to cut cost, cheaper material, R&D etc. 48 was a big bang:D
