QUOTE(gogo2 @ Jan 24 2009, 12:23 AM) yeah... i agree... Malaysian tends to forget... that's why its good for market close during big drop after the dj drop to below 7000, ci should be detached from dj market. because the dj above 7000 is happen after year 1997, and that time ci is boom till it burst after 1997 from about ci 1300. so dun "too over react" with the dj market after that. i felt the m'sia market is still not bad with the spending on quality products even after the ci crash so long. my 2000000 cents. QUOTE(Singh_Kalan @ Jan 24 2009, 02:05 PM) our KLCI index is somewhat being 'pegged' by the Valuecap fund which is from our EPF. That's why u see the index looks pretty stable even tho the Dow are dropping like crazy. Once its used up, and the world economy still not recover, u can expect it dive. KLCI can never detached from US (its largest trading partner) and the world. What u mean by "quality product" ? ? the quality product is mean, ppl still choising the branded products for their necessary rather buying the lower price product with less quality, example like home product (water filter, electrical prudcts and so). wat i mean is the buying power is still there as the economy slow down only those who lost hundred thousand of ringgit in bursa who invest during 07/08. who buy maybank at '08 with normally rm10 and now only about rm5.30. how about rm1,000,000 and now become rm530,000. Whose really felt the financial difficulty is due to they are unable to manage their financial properly and not because of the financial crisis, even in market boom also there may lost all their wealth with wrong decision making. so, i hv mention even economy good or bad, $$ is still very important. greedy or not greedy is very individually and should not discuss in public. QUOTE(aurora97 @ Feb 5 2009, 10:52 AM) i think merging its plantation & property division is a really bad idea, it makes the company look like SIME. Whilst the property market is not doing very well, its sucking up all the money generated by the plantation side. It's like a marriage between brother n sister for crying outloud! At least Sime did it differently Sime (husband) and 2 Wives (Guthrie & GHope). My 2 cents worth, right about now Foreign Funds (same goes for local S/H) r feeling they got screwed by IOI. that is good, as we can revise the price for ioi to below rm3. ioi is still consider plantation stock after all.

QUOTE(aurora97 @ Feb 5 2009, 11:10 AM) to be on the safe side, i think the correct price would be Rm 1.8 - Rm 2.2. its just too risky to have the property wing being dragged along with the profitable plantation wing. Which personally i feel penalizes the plantation wing very unfairly. the merging of ioi is to rescue their property sector (if not it could be another mkland in the future), as the development in puchong is almost saturated. no new township will be build in this economic condition. Mr. Lee is very clever, by doing that he can save billion.

QUOTE(chyaw @ Feb 6 2009, 03:26 PM) You RM2mil can only generate 7-10% income if you invest (stocks , properties etc). You maybe able to quit your work, but you can't close 2 eyes and sleep all day long! Neo was saying he won't be around (I guess is in stock market) anymore, then he can't retire with RM2mil unless he switch all this cash to properties and ask agents to collect rental on his behalf. Then, he can travel around the world for the rest of his life! dun also think invest in property is the smartest way, it is just optional, i got 3 houses for rental and like nightmare. Everytime I see the stock market re-open, I feel excited dun over excited although stock market is the cash generator, but at the same time it also can help others to generate the cash from ur pocket. Wealth transition, but the company directors is the one gurantee to win. This post has been edited by sampoo: Feb 6 2009, 02:47 PM

QUOTE(eltaria @ Feb 6 2009, 05:56 PM) I was on the LCL bandwagon too, but cut my loss dee, moved to lionind which is moving upwards now.. recovering my losses. Looking at LCL's 5 years AR, noticed their operating cash flow is always negative, and more worrying is their AR is actually higher than their revenue!! How can your AR be higher than your entire year's revenue?? Means u didn't collect anything for the entire year work you did, and then some from last year's work too?? They've been heavily financed by the banks... their interest alone is worth 10 million ++ maybe their profit is use back fro investment for larger project.

QUOTE(eltaria @ Feb 6 2009, 06:08 PM) Even if they use back the cash for investment, their cash from operations shouldn't be negative all the time right? while their cash from financing are always positive... They're getting new loans all the time yet their cash from operations are -ve at the same time?? Is this something normal in this industry? Even I look at construction companies (which requires a lot of initial upfront investment) their cash flow also not like this best person to ask is mr low, he holding 30% of the share.

i think why ppl/research house interested with LCL is because of its growing business in the oil and gas countries. and important is the company itself know their weekness, transparant and not just close the issue and cheating the investor like transmile and megan did. http://biz.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?f...55&sec=businessdun expect a company can perform good in current economic condition, i dun think the company will close shop, although nothing is gurantee in this world, but they must be flexible in project management. their business model is unlimitted in the world, as there are involve in internal design/renovation, as long as the prospect need to start new/upgrade their business and there is the project come from. This is wat i remember the business model of VADS. This post has been edited by sampoo: Feb 7 2009, 01:00 AM
