The main advantage over iphone would be the keyboard if user interface is almost as good as iphone.
for me personally, prefer to get a phone with keyboard.

market already been "dominated" mostly by Apple???? iphone only sold around 14 million units up to date. how many people in the US? 400 to 500 million people. Apple is just at 2nd or 3rd place in smartphone market recetly. check the graph below, iphone is almost on par with RIM (blackberry), but iphone user base is still small compare to other smartphones.

Think you might be able to anticipate, somehow, that the feedback here will be more or less slightly biased. Don't take any offence, guys, iPhone user speaking here too.

Just a thought, might not be the ideal section to seek justification for your purchase. wink.gif

Can Palm design better speaker holes on the Pre? Look at the back, the speaker holes make the device looks like portable radio on-the-go. shakehead.gif

Added on January 18, 2009, 6:03 pmlcwei85, the Multi-Touch UI is not patented. Only the iPhone OS is patented so others cannot use it.

Oh..I thought whole iPhone including multi touch is patented.Because past 2 years, non of mobile phone manufacture produce multi touch for their phones.I thought US tech field is more or less same like medic field. In medic, just like vigra, the "original"manufacture can apply patent for their products for 2 years. After 2 years, they will announce to public the content, which means other medic manufacture can do almost the same medicine but cannot name the medicine with "vigra ".That kind of medicine called generic medicine.Has the same effect with lower price without compromise the quality.

It's like Apple representing a whole new user interface by multi-touch technology with the intuitive and beautiful OS of their own. The OS is what makes it cooler to operate with multi-touch technology. This technology is already on the surface even before Apple introduce the iPhone.

Same as UNIX foundation OS which was developed back in the 70's. Apple use it as their foundation for Mac OS X and polish it to be more user-friendly, stable, and secure.

Yeah, thats what I saw too. I bought 'Sony Erection' P990i and I must say I will never buy another Sony Erection nor Sony's product anymore. I will boycott their products for life.

If you was to talk about iPhone killer, the nearest contender will be Android based phone, and definitely not Palm Pre. The Pre is just another 'Sony Erection' story to me.

Not to mention, there's already a successful linux based phone OS installed onto the iPhone and that Android being an open source phone OS can even be used to replace the iPhone's unix based OS in the future.

Talk about Google not needing to produe their own hardware to win the phone war. tsk tsk tsk.

well i agree with the fact no.2 in the video: it is built for multi-task, and this is the very reason i amaze by Pre,

of course having multi-task mean consume more power doing it... the battery life is better be good and long for this

fact no.1 ... nah... i see dozen of better multi-touch system than this... this is just a minor leap by using none screen area with multi-touch input, but still having the shortcut bar is indeed some good shortcut

keyboard is a good thing... which i used to having something solid to press tongue.gif

We have to see the actual unit. Just like the HTC HD touch. it looks very smooth on the demo but in actual it is not.....

So.. touching the real unit is the best..

Even though they came up w/the new smartphone I will still stick w/the iPhone. It may not possess all the functions that a smartphone has, but I still love it - the iPhone. To me it is unbeatable.

(:
