QUOTE
There are signs that this is happening and the mainstream media have failed to pick up on it. For instance, when Liverpool or Aston Villa don’t perform particularly well but manage to pick up the victory, it is a quality to be admired - they ‘ground out the result’ and, especially in the case of Liverpool, ‘this is evidence they will make a title challenge’.

When Arsenal don’t play very well but beat Bolton 1-0 at home, a fixture they have traditionally had many problems in winning, it is a sign of even more concern! If you look to the early part of the season that is the type of game the Gunners would not have take three points away from. This is something that should be seriously noted by those that love to criticise Arsenal.

i agree with this part. when a certain team wins by 1-0 scoring in the 90th minute, its called determination. when we score 2 late goals to beat hull, we 'struggled'... bias

Btw,A.Young got a red card that day which means he'll not play for 3 more matches.I guess Villa will suffer without him and here's our chance to grab the 4th spot. biggrin.gif

He will be missing only 2 BPL games btw. 1 of them will be this weekend's FA cup matchup.

QUOTE(angel82 @ Jan 19 2009, 11:46 AM)
Do wenger really need arshavin so much? Eduardo will back soon and nasri looking good shape if no injuries

paying 17 milion euro for this untested player in BPL really a risk  shakehead.gif
Where is the CDM or CB that wenger promised to purchase?  hmm.gif
*
Did wenger say he's gonna buy CDM ? I know we'd all like that but he said he'll strengten midfield and defense.. but havent specifically say he'll bring in a midfield enforcer... did he ? I do agree it's a risk, but so are risks of getting "proven epl" players. I guess it also depends on squad system. Good thing is our team plays very continental style so foreign players may adapt better than in other teams i guess =) thats what we can hope on !

QUOTE(sickx @ Jan 19 2009, 02:34 PM)
well..that's uk number..let chronic_blade do the calling.. tongue.gif

*
Yeap, i saw it and was quite tempted .... but like what the others say.... die weih if start playing... =/ lol

QUOTE(Nostalgia @ Jan 19 2009, 07:13 PM)
I agree. Chronic, can you please call him up to get the latest updates on the Arshavin transfer?  laugh.gif
*
Yeah i just texted him to ask him to lower the wages demands so arsenal would be willing to shell more money for transfer to seal him through. He also said no one else wanted him so zenit no choice ady hehehe... plus he also say arshavin is impressed with arsenal who have fans like me so concerned =P

and yeah.. as you can obviously tell... im like super "dead" serious... laugh.gif

QUOTE(kaka91 @ Jan 19 2009, 07:50 PM)
lol, what chronic gonna say to him? "hey, can u tell me when arshavin gonna come?" i dun think the guy understands english anyway.. which brings me to: can arshavin speak english? i wonder what he gonna do in training since he cant speak french or english(i think)
*
I ask him buy be agent for kaka91 ... not as good as the original kaka but very close and so young sumore, sure be world player of the year in few years, also ask him give me comission for spotting such a talent =P

QUOTE(StarGhazzer @ Jan 19 2009, 11:08 PM)
It's getting hotter and hotter, if you know what I mean.

First it's the agent himself giving hints, now Advocaat himself has let out more news. It's Tuesday tomorrow, so we'll see what happens by Wednesday. Every article online is saying 15M and I repeat that any amount beneath 20M would be a great bargain considering today's inflated market.

Looking at the table now, we're in a good position to push for 3rd spot, and even possibly 2nd place if Liverpool stutter against Everton tonight. Let's take one step at a time, shall we?

Some stuff from Tommy:

And why being frugal is the way to go instead of spending crazily like Citeh is planning to do:

Last but not least, has anyone checked out Traore's assist for Nugent's goal vs T'ham? Our French lad is THE reason why we don't need to waste any resources on N'Zogbia.
*
i read the goal article, summs it up nicely, i mean all the doom and gloom and we're in this position ? i'd take it =D Good thing AW is the manager and not us fickle fans and other managers who want short term gains.. those managers also ended up short term managers and shown the exit.. even jose mourinho ended up like that.. (all the boardroom and owner issues) we've got a god environment for AW to work in. The shrewness has helped us immensely for stability as we don't have to deal with issues like roman affecting the team...leading to jose mourinho leaving, liverpool owner scuffles... man utd fans protest at take over etc... We don;t have those kind of issues.. perhaps only boardroom issues which i think is normal for every club. Our manager has all the support and even power to do as he pleases unlike some managers (only SAF aside) dun have control over transfers, youth system etc. The whole basis is to provide a long term stabiltiy. We don't see the benefits now or it seems so small the benefits.. but seeing the club run so stable so long, challenging at the top 4 positions for so long and the past decade fighting top 2 places consistently... even chelsea now may face trouble as they can't spend as much as they did to replace their squad now esp in this economic situation. Is spending few hundred millions to make a new squad every 5 seasons say sustainable for the club ? no way... AW has done it..

and you know what, perhaps at times like this when we do need it the most, we can splash the cash... AW won't flung any cash at any half decent player mentioned (think spurs) and he won;t be held to ransom. Our club is in good hands. =D

Now for a bunch of kids with so many out... not bad to be 6 pts off the top albeit they have a game in hand. The race is as tight as ever with the lower teams catchin up, but the top 4 hasn't change much really and thats why all 4 clubs are finding it hard to demolish teams like before..then again thats what makes EPL exciting also..the small teams can spring a surprise too.

i think this is our chance to get on a run now... i hope we take this opportunity, Liverpool n everton just resulted in the best result for us... 1-1 draw meant that liverpool dropped 2 pts at home and we pull away from everton below us a little further.. next month we'll see aston villa v chelsea which either way would be good for us and draw would be great for us as well... i just hope we can capitalise on this as slip ups don't come around often now. I still maintain we take it game by game.. but im getting more optimistic now, we may not catch man utd, but if things go on like this we may still have a chance to finish 2nd place... i hope =)

come on gunners!! just hope we make the needed signings, get our players back... plus our players finally starting to hit some form.. i hope we'll do a good run for the rest of the crucial part of the fixtures.. we need to get maximum points before the crucial last 4-5 games of the season where it would be toughest for us... meeting big teams. If the league is as tight as it continues to be ... these games between the top 4 will be monumental..

being realistic i think we will drop points as well... lets make sure we make our games count so we drop a little as possible least in this part where the games are slightly more forgiving for us now and let us build on our run. If we can do that then our crucial end comes in the last 1 or 2 months..

With players like Bridge costing 12M as well, you just can't help wonder how beautiful it is should we manage to get Arshavin for 15M. Heck I'll even accept a 20M offer if it means the arrival of the Russian. Add that to the crazy amount that T'ham spent on their strike force - 14M for Pavluchenko, 16M Bent (lol when Titi costed Barca the same), and 14M for Defoe... Defoe's the only one which I think is worth the money and would consider having in our squad. Oh well, at least they got an income of 50M from Berbatov and Keane... that's some consolation biggrin.gif

But I'll have a 3M Robin van Persie thank you very much. Or a Dudu that costs less than 10M.
Shows how shrewd Arsene is at buying players.

The Merseyside draw is the best result for us. It prevented Liverpool from pulling away, while it gave us some breathing space from the chasing Everton. Love ya, Cahill... Aussie power !!

This season's table looks absolutely interesting. From the 11th position onwards, not one team seems to be safe from relegation as only 4 points separate them.

Finally, Noel Gallagher craps...

LOL... drunk Brit rockers... Kaka snubbed your beloved Citeh, ne neh ne neh ne neh, hehehehehehe Cartman style!!

Dudu's return is imminent, but let's be patient. I don't mind not seeing him for the rest of this season if it means he'll be back in top form for the next.

Rosicky would return the earliest by early march the last time i heard of him.

However , returning early wouldn't be a bad thing huh?

Considering our revised bid for arshavin had been rejected =(

Do you actually look at the numbers anymore when it comes to Man City? They have infinite money rite? So what is 14 Million/infinity? From my understanding it's 0 rite? So Bellamy cost virtually nothing to Man City. The only thing we can wish for is for the owner holdings --> 0. And that is the time when oil runs out.

It would be a bonus if we can win the title. But let's not put such high expectations on ourselves for the moment. Let's just concentrate on the new few games. I would be happy if we can just perform well for the remaining months. After all that happen, I nearly even gave up on Arsenal. So i would be happy if they can do well for the next months. That would be enough
