QUOTE(waynewong79 @ Jan 24 2009, 11:10 AM)
I’m ready for first team return, says Arsenal’s Eduardo

LONDON: Striker Eduardo da Silva has told Arsenal he is ready to return to the first team 11 months after suffering a horrific leg injury during a Premier League match.

The Brazilian-born Croatia player completed 90 minutes for Arsenal’s reserves against Stoke City on Wednesday, having a goal disallowed late on.

“I am ready,” the 25-year-old Eduardo told Arsenal’s website (www.arsenal.com) on Thursday.

“It has been a long time since I’ve played 90 minutes and now I feel better knowing that I can play a whole game. I feel much stronger than I have and I am very happy now.”

Eduardo’s return to fitness will be a massive boost for manager Arsene Wenger as fifth-placed Arsenal try to make up ground in what is shaping up to be a tight title race.

“I think I am ready for the first team but you would have to ask the boss,” Eduardo said. “I feel very well and I’m training hard every day. Of course I want to come back quick and strong.

Now, every game for me is a big step.”

He said the injury, a fractured fibula and open dislocated ankle that was so bad television replays of it were not shown, had had no lasting psychological effect.

“In my head and everything I am ready,” he said. “I am happy with the 90 minutes I played on a very hard pitch with all the hard rain. But playing my first game for the first team, I am ready now and I am just waiting for my chance.” — Reuters

I watched the 2-2 draw in our reserves game against Stoke and to be honest he looks nowhere near ready for the first team just yet IMO

Finally someone else apart from me who actually recognizes Denilson's contributions. I absolutely love the bit "I don't think many people have gone down and deeply analysed his game." Pretty much sums up everything. notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

Wenger - Why Denilson deserves more credit

No LIVE for our match against Everton which is just shocking.

Btw its the same for the rest of the Big 4. No midweek live matches for the Big 4. Portsmouth vs Aston Villa has been picked ahead of West Brom vs Man Utd tomorrow morning our match has been ditched for Man City vs Newcastle the following day.

Unbelievable. shakehead.gif

Guess we have to stream on Thursday morning sad.gif

Astro are tossers.

End of rant.

I still believe we can get Arshavin but probably only on deadline day IMO.

Anyway regarding Arshavin's price tag, wage demands etc, for those bashing Zenit and Arshavin, whether unreasonable or not their demands may be do bear in mind that:

1. Zenit has every right within themselves to put whatever price tag they think is appropriate on their best asset. What Arshavin is to Zenit is like what Cesc is to us and heck if Barca or Madrid were to come in for Cesc and he wants to leave we will be doing the same as Zenit now and so do every other team with one of their best if not their best player IMO.

2. Arshavin has every right as well to negotiate the amount of wages he thinks he should be getting. You have to take into account that he is 27 almost 28. This could very well probably be the last big contract or offer he is going to get in his career if he stays at Zenit, signs for us or for any other team. I can't personally blame him for rejecting us if we offer him less than he is getting at Zenit, if he has to accept a loss to play for us (if the 2.5m clause in his contract is true) or accept a better package from elsewhere.

If he was right to demand a very-high amount contract then he have to become a proven player. And he is not younger anymore, he is already at the peak of his career, so it is risky to sign him for a huge transfer fee. He has to perform consistently and i hope its not like giving him another 2 or 3 season to perform at his best if he failed in his 1st year. However, its all only my personal opinion, and in Wenger, we trust. Wenger knows the best for the team.  cool2.gif

I did not say he was right to demand the amount he did. All I said was he is well within his rights to negotiate the amount of salary he thinks he should be getting. Huge difference there bro. Read my post again. wink.gif

Simply not good enough. Overall it wasn't really a bad performance in the 1st half but not good enough to win today IMO.

The lads will simply have to dig deeper in the 2nd otherwise a goalless draw is on the cards.

The comments on here are getting worse and worse by the minute. Wishing injury and was actually glad that a player (Diaby) got injured. Absolutely shocking IMO. I know you guys probably didn't mean it (well I hope so at least) but wishing injury upon a fellow human being no matter who is just plain wrong and sickening.

That aside

Shame we didn't score at least a goal. The only stand out performance for me last night was Denilson. An absolutely defensive masterclass from midfield that reminded me of Gilberto. Read the game really well, breaking up West Ham's play countless times whenever they tried to hit us on the break along with so many interceptions as well as applied good pressure on many occasions forcing players to turn back.

Denilson's defensive side of the game is maturing through every game now and I can't wait till Sex Fabregas get back. I'm confident we will be seeing an all different Cesc/Denilson partnership compared to the one at the start of the season. Hopefully by then it would not be too late as far as our season goes.

I'm confident we will get Arshavin.

Like I've predicted before that this transfer saga would go to the wire. We are no stranger to last minute transfer deals, the Lassana Diarra transfer and Cole/Gallas swap are testament to that.

I hope so too. Btw I'm glad Arsene did not sign a DM. I'm happy to give Denilson more of a chance to further prove himself. He has improved tremendously on his defensive side of the game and was excellent against West Ham as a DM. I'm actually looking forward to seeing more the same from him.

Not to sound pessimistic but Denilson is a poor player. Average at best. He only did well against Westham because Westham were horrible themselves.
Not a half-decent chance to speak of. But remember Everton, Denilson was marking Baines before the Everton goal and as I remember Baines was in acres of space
before sending in a pin point cross Cahill's way.
We can't make judgement from a single game and has been shown overtime, Denilson isn't the answer.
*
To be fair Denilson was played out of position against Everton. Once moved back to the center of midfield against West Ham, instant effect.

I beg to differ. West Ham looked horrible and hardly had a sniff at our goal because Denilson was fantastic defensively with his interceptions and reading of the game.

Yes we can't make judgments over a single game yet I still believe its too early to say Denilson is shit and will never improve. In fact IMO he has improved a lot and he is now a much better and accomplished player than he was at the start of the season and I am confident he will continue to improve. Not every player is a Fabregas or a Sagna that can come straight in and do the job. Even the likes of Pires and Henry needed quite a number of games and months of a sustained run of regular football before becoming the players we know they are. Just have to wonder what would've happened if Arsene was as impatient as some of you are and had branded Henry and Pires as "not the answer" and sold them off because of a handful of poor games at the beginning.

Its still an uncertainty at this point. For all we know negotiations might still be on. The FA have after all extended the deadline.

extended deadline for agreed deals but player unable to sign due to bad weather. since arshavin is in london this is not a valid case..

i feel disappointed. afterall this attempt is known since 2-3 weeks ago so why last minute? i am disappointed we did not show we are serious to get back on track.  shakehead.gif

The FA received a fax from Arsenal for the extended deadline but I guess its irrelevant now as the deal is all but off. Zenit will be making a statement in about an hour.

Gooners watching Sky Sports Live in the UK said Arsenal has just announced that the deal is still on but Zenit is saying the deal is off and will make a statement at 7.00. God knows what is actually going on. Bah no choice have to wait then.

How sure are you sure that they requested an extension?

I mean come on, we all know the deal itself is ridiculous. 15m for a euro 08 star? Hell, no way. We might be over-paying for a player. AW should be smart enough to be patient. Zenit is asking to much. They should really go look themselves properly in the mirror.
*
It was confirmed earlier by Sky that the FA had received a fax from Arsenal regarding a deadline extension.

15m is just about right. Arshavin is class and if you have been following Zenit's games through last season's UEFA Cup and their UCL games this season on a regular basis then you would know. Too good a player for a team like Zenit.
