hey bro jind86, how much does it roughly cost to shorten the sleeve length of a dress shirt and shorten the length of a short in Ruth's tailor? and how long it normally takes?
*
er.. 30 bucks for sleeve? takes bout a week? their really busy..

for shorts i'd rather just send to the lady down my house who does it for 5 bucks =D

aww great, went to see my ready shirt from de-catano.. i wanted my monogram to be "D.T.", somehow it ended up with "D.T.D" sweat.gif

hmmm sleeve length was short.. collar was too tight.. left sleeve was too small that it was not able to cover my watch.. noticeable roll on the back behind my collar..

he said he'll get them fixed, so i'll wait and see..

other than that, fit was great..

I just don't see how they can change any of those after the fact. They would have to make a new shirt.
*
he told me there's nothing he can do about the monogram, i don't know how the hack he could get that wrong, but apparently he said he will fix the others..

neck probably needed to be larger by .5, sleeve length was significantly too short, probably needed to lengthen about 3/4 inch..

well if they did a entirely new shirt for me that would be good..

QUOTE(kotmj @ Dec 23 2009, 10:20 PM)
You didn't ask him HOW he's going to do it?

When I ask someone to do something non-routine, I want to know how he will proceed. How will he do it? I need to have a solid conversation with him to make sure he is in a position to deliver what I need him to. The both of us need to sculpt a clear bilateral picture of how the deliverable will look like and the means to do so.

Maybe he can. But I have no basis of knowing without that rigorous conversation.
*
nope, as i mentioned im not really knowledgeable in the technical and structural side when it comes to clothes.. i know the specifications, i know how i want it to look, i know how i want it to feel.. so even if he explains to me, i would not get it..

so for me he said he's going to deliver the results, so i'd wait.. if he does not fulfill what he promised, then i'd have to complain and demand a new shirt to be made..

there was basically still a small pucker on the shoulders and he will still attempt to get rid of it..

the sleeves were a little too short, needed to lengthen about .5 inch, and i wanted the left cuff to cover my watch when buttoned..
the tailor said he'd redo the entire sleeve..

so its basically still a work in process..

do leave your comments smile.gif

can i know how much is this? hmm.gif

RM180.. gotta ask for a discount though since he monogrammed my shirt D.T.D instead of D.T. which i requested!! mad.gif

QUOTE(kotmj @ Jan 4 2010, 11:45 PM)
This is how a dress shirt should fit. I won't get this from Fit&Match either. I will get something very similar to yours. AL is my only resort if I want something like this.

he definitely looks great in the shirt, but then again he has the model-type body which further enhances the look of the silhouette on him..

I dunno whether to laugh or band with you to complain the tailor. But the former is making me snicker for some reason. doh.gif
*
i'd laugh too if it wasn't my shirt blink.gif

stupid mistakes..

QUOTE(crapoccur @ Jan 5 2010, 01:28 AM)
Is your right sleeve abit longer than your left? Or is it just at photo time..
*
no.. its because the left sleeve is held up by the watch.. which is why i told the tailor i want the left cuff a tad bigger, so it would cover my watch..

*
i'll judge the shirt on the final outcome..

QUOTE(FusioneX @ Jan 6 2010, 08:49 AM)
The outcome's pretty nice overall. I think I would most definitely give them a try in the future. How long did it took, by the way?
*
3 weeks and still waiting lol.. i went there like twice already and there were few things which were off and needed adjustments..

i may not know much bout tailoring considering im not a pro like u guys, but thats one place which has served me well..

and at least im open to sharing so others who are non-pros like me can get some sort of help in finding a tailor (although it may not be up to high standards).. beats coming to a forum simply to brag and criticize..
