Thanks Terrorsquad, yes it's a william halstead. thanks for the input... after much thinking i will go for a 2 piece, since 3 piece is cool but not very practical for me. Im planning to use for business presentations and some casual/formal meetings n dinners.

Well, if you have enough material for a vest, why not? I got myself a 4m fabric, and didnt wan it to go to waste, so made a vest as well... sometimes u can even wear the vest by itself! biggrin.gif

I suggest.

You walk into a shop that actually have 60 mohair/40 wool, FEEL the fabric first. I have frens who was shocked out of their socks when they found out how coarse 60% mohair can be.

Although I HAVE seen 100% mohair suits... its.. kinda... well u gotta go feel it, the good point is that its pretty wrinkle resistant tongue.gif

what if i stretched to a max of RM950? really wanna keep it below RM1K..

it doesnt have to be perfect, but i guess as long as it fits better than those ive tried in padini/seed/g2000/zara.
*
Yes. U can. places like ALT should be able to do it, prepare to use house fabric. My only (and last suit there) was under 1k, fit was good... that's about it

damn....i bough a jacket off the rack that has working buttonholes...or what is known as surgeon's cuff....and i didn't know it would be such a hassle to alter them? Anybody has any experience? urgent!
*
U wanted to do what to them? Shorten it?

Its... messy... just to share my experience

With one of my suits, they mess up the buttons (I wanted slight overlapping, they didnt) so the boss came and offered to re-do the entire sleeve for me. You just cant just "fix" the button holes.

So the saying is right, Gals spend rm1o for a rm20 worth of something she dont need, while guys spend rm20 for a rm10 of something he needs. like a boss

And im pircturing this, me and my mom rushing into a 90% clearance sale warring with 3000 other crazy woman while my father walks peacefully into a montblanc shop, pays thousands for a freakin pen!!! and walks out queitly...  shakehead.gif
*
Um... we do need a pen.

We spend 1k for a shoe we wear, compared to a girl who spends RM100 for 10 shoes which she forgot she had.. tongue.gif

hey guys, i read a thread here somewhere saying that its better to buy your own material to make a suit, as they would charge you premium price for a decent quality material. Some of u guys suggested to get them on ebay, but im would like to know how many meters should i get to make a 2 piece suit.

Im fairly big size, 6'0 height, Chest is around 54" and waist is around 36" (at least thats what the pants say), should i just get 4m worth of fabric.?
*
I'm about 175cm, waist 33. A solid 4m makes me a 3 piece...

Its way much easier to alter the length of cuffs without functional cuff buttons. About ruining the suit, i doubt any tailor could ruin it. But ask M&S if they do alteration first. Its probably free if they do.
*
I doubt they alter the sleeve length. Anyway non-working cuff sleeve length is easy, no rocket science there.

This shop is one that was supposedly be a hidden secret.  laugh.gif

But its not. Just the facade of the place did not make u think about it. Its pricey too. But they probably have what you want. Kotmj says they do not do modern suits cuts. You have to go there to know if their style works for you.
*
since when is KFW a secret? blink.gif

ANyway... i find lots of these "old timers/small shops" u need to know what u are lookign for.. and be able to TELL them... if u want a decent suit. Otherwise stick to more commercial ones...

During the canvasing time.  laugh.gif  laugh.gif Like hard to find shops that do canvasing instead of fusing.

Oh yaaa.... i remember there was once camvassing seems like the holy grail lol

anyway these days I get mine done at Wardrobe, they do canvassing @ +500 if i remember correctly.
I dont do suits anymore (one only needs that many suits in msia), i only go for shirts.

Well, I guess I will know soon enough how such a shoulder looks like on a real person. I'm thinking of doing a concave shouldered tuxedo (among other suits) for my next photoshoot. Thinking of getting this guy to model it:
[attachmentid=9532738]

In the meantime, this is how the shoulder looks like in entirety.
[attachmentid=9532740]

This was last year's shoot. I just met with the model, Dominic, today to discuss the next shoot. I'm using two models this time.
