QUOTE(wintzen @ Feb 3 2009, 06:43 PM) Guys, I have just received my Casino Royale today. Is it me or normally Amazon UK's bluray are not sealed? mine is like a 2nd hand bluray. Hmmm... was your disc locked on the centre spindle when you opened the case first time round? Maybe it got loose & moved around inside like in a washing machine during shipment! Mine happened many times... but only with dvds, never before on my blurays (bd has better locking spindle device & the case is smaller & compact). But in your case anything can happen because it's not sealed! Just email back Amazon for a replacement set and I bet, you don't have to return the faulty set. I'm pretty sure they'll reply with something like: "...as the cost of return shipping is prohibitively expensive in this case, you do not need to return the item." Yup, dat's what I get on few occasions. Oh.... but dat's from Amazon US |

QUOTE(wintzen @ Feb 4 2009, 04:43 PM) on a separate note. cdwow shipping is quite fast. they dispatched my item on saturday, and i got it in the mailbox today. but i have waited about 12 days before they dispatched the item. Yup, cdwow is not bad given their price a bit expensive & all, but it's FREE shipping to M'sia & you can choose which currency you prefer when making payment! |

I received my 9 CD's ABBA collection from Amazon US just now...and best of all, the disc are made in Germany sent out 21st Jan, Kastam cleared 31st Jan, pos malaysia delivered today, so it took 14 days (and in between it's CNY holiday) if everytime like that, I no need to use fast shipping liao |

Dats bladi reasonable. Y wait2 & watch dvd instead... pre-order now!! US$59.99 from Amazon is very reasonable: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001PPGAKS The Bourne Trilogy is the one that's pricey, US$64.99 for only 3 discs. |

Have just finished watching UniSol & I'm pleasantly surprised on how good the PQ is.. especially for a low budget, 16 years old movie like this one.

QUOTE(arj @ Feb 8 2009, 01:39 PM) For those of you who hate grains in movies like Black Hawk Down or 300, where it was done so on purpose, try looking for calibration settings on the AVS forum to eliminate them for your particular TV model. After applying those settings on my tv, the grains are barely noticeable from 5-6 feet away from a 40" TV. The trade-off is that the picture looks slightly soft, loose a bit of detail My take on grainy effect on BD movies...Black Hawk Down - Acceptable 300 - Acceptable Transformers - Not Acceptable!! |

Wah, tdy very quiet one... either everybody still in holiday mood or too busy, work all piling up...
Managed to catch Lara Croft: Tomb Raider yesterday. Almost the entire movie was covered with grain even though the print master seemed to be in good condition. At this point how I wish that the 'avoidable' DNR technique should be applied on this one! I'm not sure whether this grainy effect was intentional or the film stock used was of low quality. It could've been a good sight, this movie... because the cinematography of Peter Menzies Jr. was quite good (I like his work on Incredible Hulk PQ: 3 out of 5 (AQ is nothing to comment, the DD 5.1 is pretty norm to me...) |

QUOTE(horray @ Feb 10 2009, 05:20 PM) Agreed with you, the PQ for this movie is so crappy that you might as well just watch the DVD version and won't notice difference. AQ is also a major disappointment. Probably it was released many moons back at a time when everyone was just beginning to experience HD. You're right. Maybe I might as well follow your footstep... I bought it in the first place because I wanted to upgrade my old featureless JackSparrow dvd... & there's this Amazon 3-for-2 deal... |
