that animal is commonly known as waterfish as well.
btw, my Mr.Ip has arrived Added on March 5, 2009, 2:00 amthe picture is indeed very grainy.....hey...please take a look on Chapter 12. starting at 1:22:30 and last about 7 seconds, the scene where Ip Man is using the 6.5 Bo and the camera is behind him. I think that is a stand-in to Donnie Yen. This post has been edited by rthj: Mar 5 2009, 02:08 AM |

I want to ask a general question here: Putting aside filmmakers' artistic intention, is grainy really ok to you on a hi-def presentation (like bluray on full HD tv/pj) ?
If grain appears on a lower reso medium like dvd on CRT tv, it won't be so intrusive... meaning it won't matter much but through a high reso medium like bluray on a big scale full HD screen especially, it can be so obvious and tends to be annoying |

There's only some grain in P2
but the PQ are soft in many scene, did have some pop up/3D like scene and the lighting are way too bright, and the colour a bit pale also...maybe they want us to see more clearly overall PQ to me is 3/5 |

The problem is when DNR is applied, the pic tends to be very soft and lot of details are sacrified eg skin texture. So I think I can live with grain. QUOTE(ar188 @ Mar 5 2009, 08:56 AM) Of coz I DO MIND! hehe... but I doubt there's any 'grain' in most cyan movies, dun think so... they're usually "spotless", kikiki...QUOTE(fentanyl @ Mar 5 2009, 09:15 AM) The problem is when DNR is applied, the pic tends to be very soft and lot of details are sacrified eg skin texture. So I think I can live with grain. Ok, I can understand the softness, lost of detail and oso the waxy-like skin complexion when DNR is applied but I prefer that if not done too much, of coz... than some annoying grain. Don't get me wrong, slight grain is fine (low-light scene shot on film stock, how grainless can you expect eh?), but like Tomb Raider is unacceptable at least to me. Dark City & Face/Off bd are good example of DNRed transfer, but nevertheless looked awesome! |

I notice it alot on previous Sony LCD TVs.. dunno about 09 versions how they perform... |
