Best, if u read around first really..too many to point out. But the usual things, Springbrook, themeparks, byron bay, lamington national park, glasshouse mountain, etc
Again, depending which kind of tourist u are, budget/average/lavish. but aud 2k is sufficient. pls check my previous tips/sharing...all there la
*
Actually I did some research on ur recommendation. It does seems pretty extensive. Thanks a lot for sharing ur itinerary. Mine not yet cfm due to most hotels not yet open for booking for October 2011.
Anyway, it bothers me that most of the websites i went it, there's a sold out notice for most of the hotels even 1 year from now. I believe its not open for booking yet the sold out notice or is it really sold out sweat.gif
Btw Kucingfight, how long in advance did u book ur hotel?

Yes, i booked mine tis may, during the promo fair. Yup, mainly accommodation around GC is not cheap. I had my itinerary changed, as i'll be flying straight to Sydney for a few days, then back to GC, then renting a car to move around @hinterlands
*
so u booked the accommodation 1 year in advance? I try to book since November but most hotels in most websites stated sold out.
I'm presuming its not yet open for booking, or am I wrong sweat.gif ?
Its for October 2011 btw

afaik, nope, GC is not affected. i'm goin in march too

From the route, it doesn't seem to stop somewhere near Surfer's paradise. All the stops seem to be in Brisbane.
Just worry might miss the flight sweat.gif

to be honest. nothing much really. Shops= usual touristy stuffs, which i didnt bother much. Woolworths is there. Unless if ur the beach/surf kind of person, then it's ok. I juz went for the sake of it...for the light house
*
How do u commute to airport on your last day? The buses there operate early?

tx kucing.. noted on the advise. Will try to book a ride first but hv a major concern since we going to arrive early Saturday morning and afraid their "kedai" not yet opened.. hehehe..

anyway, we was offered a stay at Grand Chancellor Surfers Paradise, with  daily breakfast and return sit-in-coach shared service transfer in Gold Coast.

errr... what does "return sit-in-coach shared service transfer in Gold Coast" means?
*
Was recommended this hotel by a friend but too pricey for me. Very near to interesting spots as well.

QUOTE(10&Counting @ Jul 18 2011, 09:08 PM)
It means you get seats in a coach and they will be other passengers too going the same way, either to surfer's paradise or the airport. It's NOT a private transfer( just your family)
*
Since the AAx flight to M'sia is early, what is the best mode of transportation from Surfer's Paradise to airport? Is their coach to airport easily available at the time which I plan is ard 630am?

Is diffrent type of socket. You all can the converter from the hotel biggrin.gif
*
Ok, but heard from ppl that it required some kind of transformer as well cos the current in M'sia & Aus is different.
Anyone can clarify whether use the converter is good enough or need the transformer to lower the voltage? FYI, I'm charging only phone + camera,

I don't think the voltage transformer is required. I tried the below to charge my phone and camera and to operate my hair dryer:
1. Connect directly to power socket on the wall via converter.
2. My friend brought the Malaysian type of power extension over there then used the converter to plug it into the power socket on the wall, then we all happily charge all our stuff from the extension.
*
icic, thanks for the clarification. Cos I remember I need adapter only but then someone told me about low voltage there, so I was confuse & seek clarification. Thanks a lot, save me from headaches

You could try this.

http://www.groupon.com.au/deals/gold-coast...land-/715866127
"Last Chance to See the Whales -- $79 Full-Day Whale Watching and Island Adventure Cruise with BBQ Lunch and More from Whale Watching Gold Coast ($184 Value)"

I'm still waiting whether they do serve Halal food for the BBQ lunch. If yes, then I'll be grabbing 2 vouchers.

Btw, when is yr trip to GC?
*
Thanks for the link. I'll be there 26-31 this month. but only 5 full days to utilise. Got myself 3 day tours from hinterland (2 tour free1) & so left 2 days to explore, regret din book additional day. 5 days seems not enuff.
I have to cramp in Movieworld, Harbourtown, Pacific Fair, jet boating & hopefully whale watching in 2 days laugh.gif
Anyway, anyone of you know that is it possible to spend a day covering Movieworld, Harbourtown + pacific Fair? If it is, which place to go first? I'm thinking of Harbourtown-Movieworld-Pac Fair on Thursday since that the only day it open till 9pm.

BTW, have u done ur visa? I've done mine thru travel agent, but there's just a email printout indicating my passport details, but no physical visa that I can see or hold. According to her, its like that since the visa edi link all airlines, so there wont be any problem.

Anyone can share their experience? Cos first time travelling to a country that need visa blush.gif

I am going on the 25th so hopefully it wouldnt be too cold!

@vreis: Yup, same here...i book my visa thru agent as well and it is just a print out...this print out is more for msia airport as aust airport just need to scan our passport, n voila! all the details are there : )

Anyone else bookin thru msia harmony tour? i book the ground arrangement with them and hopefully it turns out alright!
*
25th nite flight? tongue.gif
I google the temperature, its hovering ard 18-25C. So I imagine it shouldn't be too cold, just cooling, great for outdoor activities thumbup.gif
I booked day tours direct thru the australian company as recommended by a forummer. Buy 2 free 1, so quite ok for me. Cant wait.
Anyway, thanks for the opinion/reassurance on the visa thingy. Hopw we all have loads of fun there rclxm9.gif

the weather should be great during this time of year... enjoy it guys..

have to skip the whale watching as it gonna cost my family over RM600+ (even after discount) for a full day whale+eco island activity... - cant afford that much for 1 day activity..
*
I found some half day whale watching @ AUD80-90/pax for half day (4 hours) like paradise whale watching since I dont have time for whole day. Its a bit pricey but we cant get it in m'sia mah. tongue.gif
Anyway I'm still thinking about it since I spend more in my ground arrangement to Tanglooma edi and also the time contraint hmm.gif

Yup, nite flight with Airasia^^ just thinking on how to pass 8 hours in the flight!! >_<
ya, really looking forward to the trip!! : )
The ground arrangement is focus on paradise ranch (koalas!! ^^), sea world, movie world and half day tour in city with hotel & transport included.
I booked during matta fair so its quite ok, around RM1.8k? ya, quite ok, better than those tours outside which can roughly cost about RM3k per person!
Hope it helps^^
*
Me same flight. Normally just sleep or rather take nap for most of the flight time.
Else can share some info & notes for GC as well. tongue.gif
Your ground tour included accommodation? I DIY whole package myself though its quite costly after factoring everything in.

Yup, my ground tour includes accomodation as it is much more convinient...
Really? Usually I thought DIY would be quite ok since you already set your own budget and all...Amounted to how much roughly?
*
oh My flight + accommodation edi amount to 2.5k. My ground arrangement to currumbine+tropical world+tanglooma+brisbane cost ard 2k. All the cost for 2 pax
The tanglooma trip alone cost ard 800/pax sweat.gif
but the upside is the sand tobogganing & the highlight is hand feed wild dolphin. Hopefully the dolphin comes that day laugh.gif

QUOTE(Blueberry @ Oct 13 2011, 12:49 PM)
It may be quite rush to cramp Movieworld, Harbour Town & Pacific Fair in a day. It's best to get to Movieworld early as the ticket booth can be an extremely long queue. And there's show times which if you want to watch a specific show, then you have to wait. Also, for the rides there might be a queue which would delay your time. Harbour Town is about shopping smile.gif (which you can speed up the shopping process if you only plan to spend 2 hours here for example). What do you plan to do in Pacific Pines? Cause it's a big shopping mall but nothing spectacular (in my opinion).
*
I see. Actually after did some googling, the average time to get from the 3 places is ard 1 hr each. So I may have to forgo Pac Fair. I actually just wanna have some feel/look on the Oz shopping centres.
Thanks for the info though, much appreciated.
