yes we have been gold coast some times

we think this works well for us but we wonder that maybe try and go to tamborine mt  www.discovertamborine.com.au/ it is very rainforest, pretty and high up
instead of blue mountains as that is sure a lot of driving

sydney - boat on harbour is good if weather is really good, ferry is cheap and views are the same, ferry terminal is just on walk to opera house

Gold Coast
Day 1
Beach hopping is worth going early in morning, very funny locals to watch and no shade after 10am, + town sight seeing

Day 2
morning we did balloon ride over the mountains and wine tasting at the oreillys vineyard, we recommend this a lot, it is $A100 cheaper than in sydney and they did return transfers and breakfast included in ticket, we were going to do sea world park and they said they would do free transfer to that in tour also but we changed our minds www.hotair.com.au/goldcoast

Wild life sanctuary - is good in the afternoons i think there is more than one but we really liked www.currumbin-sanctuary.org.au/ and we were very adventourous and did the adventure parc walk on ropes up in the trees we amazed ourselves

Day 3
Springbrook national park - we didnt do but we hear its nice

Brisbane
Day 4
warehouse shopping is ok at Harbourtown but we like shopping at brisbane city mall and then we did casino for lunch and botanical gardens, car parking is behind hilton but many streets in brisbane are one way so listen to your gps, we did not like driving in brisbane

+ travel to sydney (sleep in car) you know yes that its 12 hours of driving from brisbane to sydney? parking in sydney is v expensive, one way fly is $88 maybe not drive

Sydney
Day 5
Opera house, Habour, city tour then to blue mountain check in

Day 6
Blue Mountain tour. Drive back to Bondi Beach, Sydney.
Day 7
From Bondi Beach, drive to Gold Coast (sleep in car)

Gold Coast
Early day 8
Depart.

we hope you have as much fun at gold coast as we did, we make mistake and only go for 3 days to gold coast first time

There are quite a few nice towns along the coast from GC (OOL) to SYD, eg Ports Stephens. The drive along Pacific Highway should take about 10 hours from BNE to SYD (from memory as I used to travel quite frequently some 15 years ago) and should be around 800km plus or minus. Don't know if they have upgraded the highway, but the killer zone should be between Newcastle and Taree. Back then at least 90% of the highway is single carriage way. I would do a continuous drive with a singular pit stop at Ports Stephens. Never stayed overnight before there but have quite a few classmates who was born and bred there and swears the fact that it is not commercialised, you will get a true aussie feeling there. It is supposed to be a getaway town for Sydneysiders nowadays.

From your travelling plan, it seemed quite pack. Almost like wanting to do everything in a short period of time. Australia is meant to be taken in slowly. Like Bondi beach is not even half as nice as GC unless you know the history of the place. One place which a lot of outsiders would not know is the South Head. It has some of the best Pacific Ocean view yet on the other side, the entire Sydney harbour (complete with the mandatory opera house and harbour bridge) at your feet.

For wine tasting, the best would have to be Hunter Valley which is located near Newcastle. Some of Australia finest wineries are located here. In fact I believe in near future it might even win Barossa Valley in South Australia. Hunter Valley wasn't that popular just a while ago.

The hot air balloon is quite nice. Just wondering, why did you give all the theme parks in Gold Coast a miss? Also did you manage to sample some of the best dim sum in Sydney?

Nonetheless sounds like you had a whale of a time. Cheers matey!

From my last year's experience travelling 2.5 months in Australia. I would say if possible take your time, go to a place with more time rather than going to a lot of places with a short amount of time.

Reasoning is that travelling time might really take quite a while and it's not worthwhile that you drive all the way to hunter valley for 3 hours yet only spending like 2 hours and go back. After wine tasting do you really think that you are fit to drive? Getting a fine in Australia is probably the last thing you wanna encounter.

Also secondly when you drive, especially if you are not familiar you might ended up getting lost and please come up with a contingency route / plan if you drive somewhere wrongly (I ended up driving 7 hours from Hunter Valleys to Blue Mountains which suppose to only take 4 hours due to my decision to take the "Scenic route" which is not that scenic anyway..

In Sydney City, basically it's the shopping and eateries district. I would really recommend Dim Sum over there and even Dim Sum back in Malaysia cannot compare at all. I personally tried many Dim Sum and especially recommend "Deng Tai Fen" near the Chinatown. Other attraction includes Sydney Tower, Sydney Bridge Climb and etc, the harbour bridge and Opera house is very photogenic and you can easily spent a full day trying to shoot them in different location / angle if you are really interested in photoshooting.

For Gold Coast, basically the Harbour Town in Gold Coast is the cheapest shopping place in the entire Australia I have been. The Raulph Lauren Polo T there was going on 50% sales during a normal day during my visit, I bought a Lewis Jeans at 50AUD which I think is very cheap. The price is actually on par or even better than Christmas Boxing Day sales minus the crowd and chaotic.

For the beach.. Well what I can say it's just another beach, nothing too special about it. Compare to Bondi, it's just that a super long beach which really a lot of tourist. I been to many many beaches in Australia, from the Gold Coast Coast, Sydney Bondi, Manly, Coogee, Melbourne's St Kilda, Tasmania Wineglass bay and even the beach in New Castle. All of them were very nice beach due to the Crystal Blue Sea water and nice sand too.

Well the Gold Coast Theme Park is quite nice too.. after u been to movie and dream world u feel boring in Universal Studio Singapore ..

Singapore Universal Studio is a joke of a theme park. A total waste of money. The service staffs are rude, rides faulty and made us wait in line while they fix the problem. It is truly a joke.

Frankly, I don't fancy Harbour Town. In the past (going back some 20 years ago), Boxing day sales in Australia is like the craziest thing ever. I remembered when I arrived at Grace Bros (now Myers) door stop at their elizabeth st HQ, I was already some 300-400 ft back and this is 7am, and shops don't open until 9am. This is worse than any of the iPhone or iPad launches. Now, that's what I call a sale. Timberland goes for A$50 a pair, RL polo shirts going for A$35, GA jeans for A$70. All crazy prices. The best beach? I would have to say by far Cairns. Less populated but a little too commercialised.

Cheers, mate!

I dont think Universal Studio is that bad for me, their staff is inexperience (cant blame them).

Yup from what I heard from my friends, the boxing day sales is getting less exciting each year and so.. But it's good experience that you wake up 4am in the morning to shop.

Cairns is like hardcore 7 hours drive from Brisbane.. I heard very good feedback on it but it's not possible to pack on my journey previously

In fact some of the best beaches are away from civilisation, eg monkey mia and esperance in western australia.. both are beautiful..

A less touristy place in Sydney would be the South Heads where the harbour view would be extremely fantastic..

Sunshine Coast of late has lost its lustre, property prices have been dropping like mad, and yet it is still beautiful.
