i wrote an email to georg jensen bond street last week, requesting for a quote of the rubber strap. instead of charging me, they sent it to me for free! now, this is what we regard as customer service excellence.
it is the rubber strap for my ellipse keyring. for more info: http://www.georgjensen.com/uk/living/accessories my apologies for the low-resolution images; they were snapped in my office using my out dated cell phone. ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by attacusatlas: Nov 30 2019, 07:30 PM |

QUOTE(CHiNO730 @ Jul 13 2011, 07:23 AM) kotmj, while I respect your wisdom and opinion, you aversion to the values represented by Lacoste and RL must certainly cover FP as well. In nearly all cases FP offends on your points more than the others. not all fred perry are made in china; M12/2010 world cup series/fred perry x asos limited edition/100 years collection are made in uk, F1153/F1102/M120 are made in japan, about half of fred perry laurel, blank canvas and fred perry x raf simons collections are made in portugal. there are also made in scotland and italy fred perry polos. The point of a polo was function. Anybody with a brain can put stripes, use different combinations of materials, and come up with a creative logo. You make it sound like what FP is doing is something terribly unique that RL and Lacoste cannot hold a candle to. Lacoste has over 300 product SKU's for their polo style alone. How many does FP have? "You start with a stock standard white polo worth maybe 50 ringgit retail. You stick an alligator/pony logo on it. Now it is worth 400 ringgit retail." This is precisely what FP is doing with their Made in China polos, except w/a fancy crest instead of an alligator/pony. At least Rene Lacoste can be credited with bring the polo into the limelight, with which hundreds if not thousands of fashion labels have been influenced by this in some way or another. To you such sartorial significance may not be worth the "400 ringgit retail" but by that same token, adding stripes and colours does not in any way make FP superior. ![]() "We were the first to put lines in our collar." I'm not against FP at all. Simply put, if I had a choice between the two, I'd choose Lacoste for the reasons above. Added on July 13, 2011, 7:49 am i think history is incredibly important. fashion is one part history, one part art, one part function, and one part style. quality wise, you might be right, although FP's are made in China and Lacoste's are made in Peru. btw, fred perry doesn't merely produce twin tipped polo. fred perry knitted polos: ![]() fred perry x raf simons collection. the material of grey/back is a mixture of cotton and copper: ![]() ![]() fred perry laurel (left and right) & stussy blank canvas (middle): ![]() ![]() please don't get me wrong. i do own a fair bit of lacoste polos; i am just sharing some info so that ppl won't misunderstand that fred perry are all made in china and only available in twin tipped. QUOTE(CHiNO730 @ Jul 14 2011, 07:23 AM) atta, Screw those who cannot agree with your style; we don't live in a communist country. Style is really a matter of preference and it is very much personal. Just buy and wear what you like the most and comfortable with.yes, i am completely aware that FP produces more than just collar tipped polos. I was just commenting on the ad itself - and yes, my apologies for generalizing that all FP's are made in China. I do concede that there are other regions where the fabric is woven and the shirt is put together. regardless of what my opinion is on with FP vs Lacoste, I salute you sharing your posts as our forum readers may not share my opinion and would love to see the huge store full of FP's polos that you have. in the end it is about sharing, and many would not agree with my style, choice of products/brands, etc. regardless, i still post away. take for instance a recent acquisition. my good friend with a fine taste in fashion says he'd prefer a fine example from Carmina vs what I have chosen below. ![]() |

QUOTE(adkins981 @ Jul 20 2011, 05:32 PM) nice fred perry shirts u got there... can i know where did u buy them? How do u feel about the quality of the shirts compared to polo ralph lauren? ty Thanks heaps. i got most of my fref perry whilst i was travelling. some from online stores. With my limited knowledge in rl, i would say that both fp and rl are almost identical in quality, and are better than lacoste. |

I was on shopping spree, mainly to get ready for my Bangkok trip this weekend. It is hot and humid there and I realise I need to pack some t-shirts and shorts. Ended up getting 4 Ts from uniqlo and 2 shorts from philosophy. I like the corporate collab Ts very much. At rm39.90 per piece, it is a steal.
![]() Picked up a new samsung galaxy s2, samsonite cosmolight and some products from crabtree and evelyn on my way back. I finally can dump the very much out-dated blackberry. ![]() ![]() The lightest and strongest samsonite so far. You can't go wrong with german. I picked the silver, size 28. ![]() Be using these for years. Very masculine and yet not too overwhelming. Those on the left (wooden box et al) are for home. ![]() My apologies for the long winding story. I am just bored at home. Now back to my itinerary planning stage. QUOTE(sembilan @ Jul 28 2011, 03:30 PM) Mine is rm1990, size 28'. The largest is 32' at rm2590 if I am not mistaken. Not like the other samsonite models, there is no size 30' or else it would be perfect. FYI, some airlines would refuse any luggage that beyond 30' especially when you are entering the states. |

QUOTE(sembilan @ Jul 28 2011, 03:47 PM) Ah, thanks for the explanation. Initially i tot it was quite within the same range as rimowa topas (at least thats what i thought when i saw the cosmolight's prices in China). How much is the rimowa topaz for the same size? I am contemplating to get one in cabin size. |

QUOTE(sembilan @ Jul 28 2011, 04:33 PM) if i am not mistaken, it goes for around 3500 here. i was told a cheaper alternative of getting it is in germany, a friend paid around 500 euros for his. 28 inch model. I won't be surprise. My fav is the classic flight in cabin size. Oh well it may only happen towards the end of this year.Just for comparison, in Singapore the same cosmolight (28') is being priced at sgd870, which translates to rm2088 (with exchange rate of 2.4). If you fly back to Malaysia, you wil get about 6% vat rebate at the airport, which is rm125.28. Now your cosmolight will cost you rm1962.72. You only save about rm27.28 but you have to drag the luggage bag and show it to the customs |

QUOTE(CHiNO730 @ Jul 28 2011, 04:59 PM) Seriously? Damn! Never dream to become one! I am, in reality, very meticulous with my spending. I only spend on those that I regard as 'investment'. QUOTE(CHiNO730 @ Jul 29 2011, 04:32 PM) sounds like a rich mans response. i saw one exactly like yours the other day. i quite like it but too bad only black was available. your definition of meticulous = well thought out products with good style, features, appearance and most importantly brand (you will probably disagree with that last one)= expensive. I have the older version of your Samsonite that I acquired about 5 or so years ago: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « These things are incredibly durable. It has a strong aluminum frame to support the ABS plastic shell. I could literally sit on it and roll myself ever so slightly while waiting in those long lines. I think mine was about RM 500 less than what you paid for a 28" brand is a plus point, if you ask me. if both articles have the same features and almost identical in style and appearance, i won't mind to fork out a little extra for the brand but my priority will always be on its functionality and features; will it serve my objective of procuring this article? for instance, i have these don't-know-what-brand keychains that have been serving me well for the past few years: ![]() they have a unique screw-in mechanism that not only secures my keys but also allows me to take keys out without any hassle. unlike other conventional ring-type keychains whereby you will have hard time getting keys in and out, and if you repeat the same process for more than 3 times, the ring will 'expand' slightly (if you know what i mean). ppl told me i could get a designer brand keychain for the amount of money i paid for one of my keychains, well, i can't blame them...... don't get me wrong, i do like, to certain extent, designer brands. just fyi, i will be using a gucci holdall on top of the newly procured samsonite later this afternoon. Added on August 4, 2011, 11:23 pmI just touched down late last night. It was indeed a relaxing vacation for both my wife and I. Procured some handkerchieves by Naraya and silk pochette by jim thompson. At 40 bht and 350 bht respectively, these are a steal! ![]() ![]() As always, my trip to Thailand will not complete without a visit to boots pharmacy. ![]() A cheap thrill from Bangkok. For home. I missed pan puri, thann, mt sapola and prann. ![]() Last minute shopping at the airports - jo malone vetyver cologne and, dunhill cuff links and tie bar. I don't understand why jo Malone can never make it to our shore. There were so many ppl in its shop. I had to wait for a good half an hr before being served by the shop assistant. ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by attacusatlas: Nov 30 2019, 08:41 PM |

QUOTE(JeffxMatt @ Aug 14 2011, 10:45 AM) Very cheap stuff I have to tell you, and its brandless. Bought it at Brands Outlet in Ikano. It is alright if they are brandless. this thread is not about expensive and branded stuff; it is about what you had procured recently. so pls feel free to share with we all.2 pair of ties for RM50. 2 pair of jeans fro RM100. Cheap stuff but im happy with em. I have seen numerous times whereby ppl spent a fortune but the effect after putting on those stuffs doesnt portray any style and taste. |
