![]() ![]() ![]() So far it work well, the air gushed out is warm and the disc is luke warm after 2 hrs of test run. in case you didn't see it, the side gap is covered with cello tape. This post has been edited by navigator: Jan 3 2009, 07:36 AM |

Great job there ! And you inspired me to do the same... only to fall flat on the... items...
I search high and low for unused fans, and I could only find my old AMD processor fan. Then I tried searching for the power source... and could not find any... Anyways, I was thinking of getting those 'PC modders fan' - you know, the large ones that light up when they work... hmm... This post has been edited by defaultname365: Jan 10 2009, 02:13 PM |

QUOTE(mddl_fngz @ Jan 10 2009, 02:32 PM) nice work navigator, what's the size of those fans?60mm?are they loud?and what is that white adapter you using to power those fans? yeah, they are 60mm. they are louder than standard but TV sound will easily overrun it. That white adapter is RM15 iPod charger. QUOTE(pakcikkantin @ Jan 10 2009, 10:29 PM) It's primary function is to calm my pathetic 3RRoD phobia. The air gush out can be felt by hand, the vent at the back no longer warm and the hot spot (There's a marking already on the hot spot) is no longer hot. It works for heat dissipation, I dunno if it works for 3RRoD. |

OMG I will never do that. Even bringing a scissors close to my beloved console, my heart races... total cost = RM 4 (plastic connector), AC-DC adaptor (RM20), Notebook cooler (RM25) = RM49. It was my little project. I had time over the weekend and decided to do it. QUOTE(navigator @ Jan 12 2009, 01:21 PM) One BIG tips for you. Hmm.... 'touching' the top of the hard disk enclosure, I dun feel any heat, and you say the air enters here ? Nevermine... putting a fan there would just make it super ugly... The 3rd fan beside the console should be located at the vent holes infront of the HDD enclosure. after measuring the wind speed by using a small cloth, the vent has the strongest wind entrance. Blowing that sopt directly and the air will not even reach the heat point..... I put it by the left-side coz that is where the area gets really warm (GPU area). Lol... the air from the cooler is is not 'directly hitting it', it is blowing outwards (like the back of the console unit fans)... when the air blows that way, the temp where there is warmth becomes less warm = air leaving an area (where heat builds up) -> area cools down quicker. The warmth keeps coming in this case from the GPU. It might not be effective, but at least I know, the heat there is being vented 'away', not blown away... that is as far as I and my brain can go. You only cool the external shell and not the board itself.....I wonder the heat variance will cause faster 3RRoD problem if the heat variance internal & external too high...Yes, most of the cool air entered through that part. It might be super ugly but if it helps...who care???? and Tech2 told us that Jasper set still have 10~15% 3RRoD cases in short period of time. |

Not in a million years I would waste my time again 'tweaking the design' I don't even know would work. Adding the fan at the top will not automatically get rid of RRoD. I understand the so-called 'air flow' but who cares. Yes, who cares. Unless someone comes over and does it for me, fine.
Not too sure why I should be concerned at all.... I'm not... This post has been edited by defaultname365: Jan 13 2009, 03:16 PM |

wah~! btw....how strong is the air flow?
RM140 I can get a game already.... i tot wanna get it @ RM70 or less... however, this is Intercooler TS or EX? My urge & adranaline rush to get one is over.... bacause I've known the ultimate root cause of 3RRoD which is related to heat but it has no way to cure except re-engineer the GPU chip. Anyone who want to know what happened to our GPU may search google for nVidia G70 GPU failure. The problem is the same scenario to our xbox360 GPU failure.... nVidia repeated the failure that happened since year 2005 to M$. Someone told me that a batch of PS3 Malaysia /w 65nm chips somehow suffer the similar problem by a symptom of "failed to start after certain time interval", anyone to clarify this? i've heard that Nyco Intercooler kills the console, something about the intercooler steals some power from the console hence making some part of the motherboard's unit don't receive enough power..
is this true? |

According to Amazon, the reviews are quite good.90% say is really effective. After all it comes with its own power. SO no need to worry of intercooler sucking out power from 360

QUOTE(wilsonjay @ Feb 26 2009, 09:58 PM) woahh... for real? anyone can clarify about this?oh, one more thing, is there any electrical/electronics wizard out there who can really explain on how does a fan sharing the same power with the console can damage the console? The explanations that I've received thus far are all assumptions.. Maybe the console is kinda faulty from the beginning and M$ is just using that intercooler as a scape-goat for such issue, right? (of course, this is also just an assumption) |

guys, i just bought myself a Intercooler TS yesterday. Being waiting for this thing for quite a while, it's expensive, but i kinda like it. Here's my findings so far :
Pros: - It's a quality product..the materials and packaging used are of quality...and the Intercooler fits perfectly - Powerful fan..it moves lots of air, there's no doubt about it. My whole room smells of the innards of the Xbox - Nice design, in my opinion Cons: - Tempsmart is a gimmick..it only have 2 speeds, which are OFF and ON LOUD! I was hoping for a auto variable speed thingy. - It's expensive (in Malaysia) . I guess it's a non-issue for the US - It's LOUD (but that is expected) So far i'm quite happy with it |

QUOTE(kane_WWE_07 @ Mar 1 2009, 08:24 PM) So how cool is it? like when you touch at the bottom of the xbox 360 do you still can feel the heat or room temp? ok, let's say my room (ambient) temperature is pretty warm, with no air-con on, then the xbox's left side (if it's vertical) would be very slightly warm to the touch. It does feel SLIGHTLY cooler than without the Intercooler. The question remains whether it is really effective in the long run, if you can stand the noise it generates |

QUOTE(kane_WWE_07 @ Mar 2 2009, 02:14 PM) ok thats great! when will it start to spin the fan?and will it continue until you finish your gaming time? or will it stop once in a while? it will start around 3 minutes after i turned on the Xbox (it depends on your ambient temperature)...then it would stop a few minutes after i switched it off. I heard from some people on the net that it continues to spin 10+ minutes after the Xbox had being switched off! but it, again, depends on a lot of factors Added on March 2, 2009, 5:19 pm QUOTE(kane_WWE_07 @ Mar 2 2009, 02:14 PM) ok thats great! when will it start to spin the fan?and will it continue until you finish your gaming time? or will it stop once in a while? oh yeah, forgot to answer one of your queries. yes, in my case it will continue to run during the gaming session, at the same full speed, hence the noise. i guess if your room is really cold it will shut down once the temperature in the xbox equalizes with the ambient temperature, but it never happened to me so farThis post has been edited by Alphawolf: Mar 2 2009, 05:19 PM |

QUOTE(defaultname365 @ Mar 2 2009, 05:25 PM) I might get it, but I am so unsure about how effective it is or just continue using my own custom fans... For me it's loud, because it's very close to me, beside my pc. My LCD is being shared by my PC and Xbox. But when i am playing games i would not have noticed the noise. However, if you put it somewhere far in the living room or in a cabinet, it shouldn't be much of a bother. But during the quieter moments the noise would be noticed.it's effectiveness is debatable..but it does extract a lot of air...so it should be doing it's job . If i were in your shoes, if your custom made fans are doing it's job, there's no reason to get this. I bought it because i don't have any custom fans and had being waiting for this product for quite a while How loud is loud ? Is it loud as to "need to increase sound volume of TV?" |

well,i am using jasper and using this intercooler ts.(bought from GH,can get little discount maybe coz my brother bought 2)well,this cooling fan really make the differences.it really does cool my 360.u can feel it if u touch the 360 casing.i pair this cooler with my stand n cooling 360.long ago i read an article from internet that said if u can keep an idle temp for ur notebook about 70 deg,it can tahan until 2 years,if the idle temp is 65 deg,it can tahan up to 5 years...i think the same goes through this 360.(correct me if i am wrong).so thats why i use 2 cooler even i am using jasper.i am really hope this 360 can live 7year + like my ps2 that still running strong until today(never have any problem).

Speaking of coolers - I'm letting go my Nyko Intercooler EX for RM60. It's the improved version over the original, with metal power port instead of plastic (http://www.nyko.com/nyko/products/?i=71). Was used it for approx 2 months or so, PM me if interested. Thanks.

from my opinion...if some of you wanna use intercooler..for the safety of your console...make sure that intercooler used another power source...dont take it from the console...maybe it can make ur console unstable....if you dont want used intercooler...just used CoolerMaster cooling pad...
