I am looking forward to getting my iPod Touch in a week or two, but contemplating whether should wait for an update. I am in no hurry to get it, so I don't mind. Just wanna get some opinions from owners here.

Looking at the average cycle for the iPod Touch, update should be out in a few months time the most. However I don't think there will be any major update, probably firmware or similar only? Which can still be activated on current iPod Touch?

Anyone can update whats the promos on iPod Touch? I am getting one anytime now (no hurries though). Just wondering where to get it. Not very confident with getting from forumers though, prefer resellers.

My first choice now is Machines, cause I can redeem my MBB Treatpoints for cash value.

My iPod Touch.. Just arrived.. Took me 2 days to get it to work on my Mac, because of the STUPID iTunes connection problem.

Oh my problem wasn't iTunes Store, it was the iPod-iTunes connection problem. Read all over the web with so many people having the same problem, but no solution even from Apple. BUT finally found it over a small discussion thread.

My brand new iPod Touch just wouldn't connect with my iTunes, keep getting unknown error message on iTunes, couldn't not connect. Restored the iPod at least 5 times, reinstalled iTunes at least another 5 times, downgraded iTunes to version 8.1 then 8.0, changed USB ports, removed USD hub, called Apple and the same bla bla bla.. NOTHING works. BUT I was able to connect it to another computer (which was ironically on Windows) which was a relieve, cause it means there's nothing wrong with the iPod.

Then after almost 2 days searching, FOUND it! I logged into another user account, tried connecting, and it works! A folder called "Lockdown" was created in that user library folder and all I had to do was copy that into my user folder. Thereafter the iPod connected to my iTunes happily.

I have BeejiveIM for all my messaging needs. Pretty good and stable.

Other than that, I am loving Remote and Burning Monkey Casino.

Recently got another few apps, and very impressed so far with them:-

VLC Remote - Controls VLC playback via Wifi, even browse and play video files on the Mac.

Pointer - Controls Keynote / Powerpoint presentations and also the pointer cursor.

Air Sharing - As mentioned above, very useful not only to transfer files to the Touch BUT mostly it's ability to view most files.

One question about the Touch, is there anyway to sync WITHOUT charging? I would love to be able to use up all my battery before charging BUT still sync in between.

The problem is to sync WITHOUT charging.. Very surprised that no app would allow wifi sync. I can control Powerpoint, Keynote, VLC etc via wifi but can't sync? What a waste..

Charging all the time will weaken the battery. It is best to use up the battery before charging. With a built in battery, it is better to be safe than sorry.

Even my Windows Mobile allows syncing without charging. But I think it is safe to leave it connected for long period, the only concern is charging when the battery is not even low. The same thing happens to most mobile phones, charge as you like even when it is not low, and soon enough you will experience poor battery life.

I was going to get a 8GB but ended up with 16GB and i am GLAD! It just takes a few movies and 8GB is gone!

Is this only recent? Cause Apple updated their agreement, and you will need to "Agree" to it before you can buy or update your apps. In my case, the agreement only appears when I try to buy a song.

It's regardless of credit card. Just try to buy a song (from iTunes Store on your Mac, NOT your iPod Touch, and it comes along.

Don't think you can pay with your credit card anymore if the address doesn't match. Why not just register a new one? Use gift cards perhaps? Anyway, those planning to use US address, check out which state is tax free to avoid being taxed every time buying something.

You don't need to jailbreak for BeejiveIM to run in background. You can set it in Settings-BeejiveIM-Session Timeout.

I bought LogMeIn and it works flawlessly, but you should know that LogMeIn can be accessed via browser (tried Safari on iPod but cant work though). Another thing is it requires adequate bandwidth.

No didn't try, my Touch no battery for more than a week already and didn't bring my cable along
